Reminder that ātradwifeā is not a synonym for āstay at home mom.ā Itās specifically a part of an antifeminist, white supremacist, antiblack, antisemitic, lesbophobic, transphobic hate movement. The concept comes from Neo-Nazis who believe that Jews are trying to get white women to have children with Black men, stay single, date other women, or be trans men ā instead of what they believe is white womenās ānaturalā role of being subservient to a white man. They believe this is because Jews are trying to orchestrate a white genocide by lowering white gentile birthrates and creating more mixed-race kids, and that they can fight this by marrying tradwives who will have lots of white babies.
Yes, I understand that language changes and that this word has shifted, but I think we should think twice before casually adopting Neo-Nazi terminology. I do think most people who use this term are describing a concept that is specifically regarding the gendered power dynamics of conservative antifeminist couples where the wife stays home, and is ideologically probably genuinely a descendant of the Neo-Nazi concept. So I understand, but I also donāt think we should be doing white supremacistsā work for them by normalizing their ideas even more.
Makes me headdesk when people talk about āJewish tradwivesā or āBlack tradwives.ā Definitionally neither of these can be a thing. Yes there can be conservative SAHMs who homestead in any community, obviously. But they are not tradwives.
And like, yeah, maybe at some point I will have to accept that the definition has shifted because I am actually a linguistic descriptivist, but that will just be a sign that Nazis have successfully normalized one of their concepts. And in any case, people should know where this term comes from.
And it's anti-science!
These chucklefucks support the notion that birth control is harming women. Can it be harmful? Sure, talk to your doctor about that. But as a whole, birth control has enabled women to stay in school longer, to have higher paying jobs, to have better economic status, to keep from unwanted marriages, to keep their health in many cases, and, most importantly, to not have unwanted children. This has led to a declining birth rate, and white supremacists are convinced that white people not having babies is allowing people of color to "out-breed" and overtake the white population. Tradwives and their supporters push the idea that birth control irrevocably changes your brain chemistry (it doesn't), makes women manlier (it doesn't), makes men into women via trace birth control in the water (it doesn't), and causes sky rocketing rates of heart disease, embolisms, and cancers (mostly untrue... Birth control can sometimes cause clots but that's a rare side effect. Again, talk to your doctor).
They also push the "all natural birth" bullshit. At its least dangerous, that means forgoing epidurals during labor. On the other end of the spectrum, that means having a baby and receiving NO. NEONATAL. CARE. At all! Not a sonogram, no vitamins, no genetic testing, no glucose testing, nada. There's a big push to have no medical care and then do a home birth. So if the baby is breech, there's no way to know about it beforehand.
Did we lose the term housewife somewhere?
If you want to refer to a stay at home mom who runs the house but isn't ideologically aligned with the neo-nazi tradwife concept, could you not just call her a housewife????
The tribe wife movement which is part of the larger "traditional family" movement, and that's important to know, is not just anti-science when it comes to birth control, obstetric and neonatal care, it's also anti-science when it comes to vaccinations. The anti-vaxxers immediately found common cause with these people whose goal is to reject modernity.
They also reject basic and well settled science on nutrition and food safety. It should be no surprise that the raw milk movement is directly connected to the traditional family movement.
There is nothing wrong with wanting to be a stay at home mother. There is nothing wrong with wanting to have a piece of land where you can raise some chickens and a nice sized kitchen garden. There's nothing wrong with wanting to live as naturally as possible and avoid unnecessary medicine or medical treatments. But that's not all this movement is, and they take it all to the worst extreme and for the worst reasons.
And let's be really truthful. Convincing young women to discard higher education and personal development to undertake this extremely labor intensive, health eroding, intentionally isolating and fully dependent lifestyle within a year or two of graduating from high school is setting them up for physical, emotional and financial abuse that will also be meted out to their children.
And when their husbands tire of them because they have put their foot down about no more babies or because they have complained "too much" about their workload or simply because a middle aged woman with life experience isn't as enjoyable to a "traditional husband" as a naĆÆve, nubile teenager, they are left with nothing. No skills, no income except whatever support they are ordered, (which will be paid begrudgingly, slowly, or not at all) and no good way to start all over again with limited money and a bunch of kids they'll still be primary parent for. And that's a part of the movement too, keeping women compliant, agreeable and silent through fear of what happens if they are left.
Nobody wins in the traditional family movement except men.
Remember all those cartoons and sitcoms where a dad tries doing chores for the day to give the woman a break? They are always shown to be incompetent with incredibly epic failures.
Let's not go back to those days where it was normal. Goofy didn't get kissed by the mailman for this shit.

Let's not beat around the bush: Children's author JK Rowling sexually harassed someone. In some jurisdictions, this would count as sexual abuse. JK Rowling has committed a sex crime against a woman and fell back on the old rape apologist standby of "she was asking for it".

Hey can you guys reblog Cheeseburger so he can take a sunbeam nap on lots of blogs. No other reason I just want you guys to see him.
So, Cheeseburger died on November 21st after an unfairly short battle with an unfairly rare cancer that is rarely seen in cats. I only got to spend a month with him after his diagnosis, and losing him has been the greatest heartbreak of my entire life so far. He was my best friend and my soul cat, and he was there for me when I was completely alone, for twelve long years.
I made this transparent PNG the night he died in preparation for one of the many ways I was going to memorialize him--a surface rug in his likeness that I planned on laying directly in the line of his favourite sunbeam. And I uploaded that PNG here, because this is the website where people post their cats.
I was not expecting the reception I got. Many people have pointed out that this post has more reblogs than likes, and how insane that is in 2025 when reblog culture is at an all time low. I didn't even talk about the fact that Burger passed away in the original post, it wasn't a tearjerker reblog bait or anything like that. People just loved Burger that much, in the same way I fell in love with him at first sight. He was such an ugly kitten.
Anyways, it's really special to me that so many people have reblogged my best friend. I made this PNG to memorialize him in a completely different way, and you all wound up doing just that in ways I never even imagined.
Thank you. Wherever he is, I know the sun is shining.
āPratchett went back to older throwaway jokes (like dwarves being apparently unisex) and used them as metaphors to discuss social change, racial assimilation, and other complex issues, while reexamining the species heād thrown in at the margins of his world simply because they existed at the margins of every other fantasy universe. If goblins and orcs and trolls could think, then why were they always just there to be slaughtered by the heroes? And if the heroes slaughtered sentient beings en masse, how heroic exactly were they? It was a long overdue start on redressing issues long swept under the rug by a parade of Tolkien successors who never thought of anyone green and slimy as anything but a notch on the protagonistās sword, and much of the urgency in Pratchettās last few books seemed to be related to them. āThereās only one true evil in the world,ā he said through his characters. āAnd thatās treating people like they were things.ā And in the last of his āgrown-upā Discworld books, that idea is shouted with the ferocity of those who have only a few words left and want to make them count. Goblins are people. Golems are people. Dwarves are people, and they do not become any less people because they decide to go by the gender they know themselves to be instead of the one society forces on them. Even trains might be people, and youāll never know one way or the other unless you ask them, because treating someone like theyāre a person and not a thing should be your default. And the only people who cling to tradition at the expense of real people are sad, angry dwellers in the darkness who donāt even understand how pathetic they are, clutching and grasping at the things they remember without ever understanding that the world was never that simple to begin with. The future is bright, it is shining, and it belongs to everyone.ā

I think this might be one of the most incredible, unsettling and symbolic photos of todayās America Iāve ever seen. I canāt stop looking at it. Itās perfect.
stop calling it a girl dinner and call it by its formal name: Fend For Yourself dinner in an ingredients household
We call that "catch"
We call it "scrounge."
"Oh yeah, we have an outdoor Corgi, he just gets so bored cooped up inside all day. He knows to stay off the road. Don't worry, he's way too smart for coyotes and the neighbor's know to look out when they drive past."
"Us? Oh, of *course* our Dachshund sleeps inside- we just let him out in the morning and make sure he comes back for dinner. He just does his own thing, no worries."
"Um, you know it's not humane to keep a chihuahua confined to an apartment? They're dogs, they're natural predators. They need to experience hunting behaviors or they get depressed. No we don't leash ours, he absolutely hates it, we just let him come and go whenever."
Yall get how fucking stupid that sounds, right? So stop letting your goddamn cats get eaten and attacked and infected and hit by cars
A toddler would probably love full unattended access to the neighborhood too, but we don't do that either, do we
It's 2026, "keep your damn pet in a house or in your view" should not be controversial
I had to go on a hunt for this but it was worth it. 100% agree
ppl are so annoyingĀ āyou canāt paint ur bedroom pink youāre an adultā i did not spend my entire life waiting to grow up and control my life to paint my bedroom beige
I had a sales woman in furniture store try and tell me not to buy a hot bubblegum pink loveseat because she wanted me to āthink about the futureā
Bitch, I am thinking about the future. I already got a hot bubblegum pink couch at home and now I need a loveseat to go with it.
when I first bought my house, I announced my decision to paint my bedroom purple. I had wanted a purple bedroom for thirty damn years, you fucking bet I was gonna have one now. My friends decided, for some reason, that I meant what one of them referred to as ā14 year old girl purpleā (through whatās wrong with the colors a 14 year old girl chooses, I donāt know, even if theyāre not what I want as an adult). They didnāt believe me until they saw the color on the actual wall, even thought they helped me pick out paints. My mother, meanwhile, decided to get worried that if I painted my bedroom a ādark purpleā, it would be ādepressingā. As if, with an entire house to live in, I would spend all my time in the bedroom, which I wanted to be dark because I would be sleeping in there. In the damn dark.
I had like one, maybe two friends who were all like FUCK YEAH YOU PAINT IT WHATEVER COLOR YOU WANT, PURPLE BEDROOMS ARE AWESOME.
But when they actualy saw the finished bedroom, every single one of them was like, āOh yeah, thatās really pretty.ā (Well, the ones who supported me from the beginning were more like WOOHOO.)
And the moral of the story is: Fuck āem, please yourself. Either theyāll come around, or you can safely ignore every question of taste they opine about for the rest of time.
This applies to other adulting activities, too. When I was a kid, I decided that I wanted to have a wedding cake made of doughnuts. When I got older, I figured that I would be āmatureā about it and get a traditional cake, which the older adults approved of. Now that Iām 25 and facing the possibility of actual marriage in the near future, Iām just like āmarriage is a social construct but it comes with tax & insurance benefits, so just give me that goddamn doughnut cake.ā If they donāt like it then they donāt have to come to my wedding.

I would like you all to view my office. Iām thirty and my rainbow room is awesome, people can fight me
Iām thirty and my first big furniture purchase was a custom coffin shaped coffee table that opens up and is lined with purple crushed velvet. I would have loved it at 13 and I love it now. Growing up doesnāt mean you have to abandon what makes you happy.
GROWING UP DOESNāT MEAN YOU HAVE TO ABANDON WHAT MAKES YOU HAPPY.
GROWING UP DOESNāT
MEAN YOU HAVE TO ABANDON
WHAT MAKES YOU HAPPY.
Beep boop! I look for accidental haiku posts. Sometimes I mess up.
I have told this story before, and I will tell it again, because I am An Old now and repeating stories forever is our prerogative:
When I bought my house, the kitchen was multiple shades of dingy white. It was dismal, but it was now mine! So went to the hardware store for paint (well, several trips, painted swatches on panel, etc ā Iām very picky. But this was the final, ārealā trip). It was a busy day in the paint section. There were at least five people behind me in line.
Now, remember, latex paint is slightly lighter and brighter when wet than it is when dry. And Iād decided to paint my kitchen candy-apple red. The hardware store employee took my gallon off the Paint Jiggler and cracked it open to put a dab on the top, revealing the most incredibly deep pink, and behind me I hear the entire line of people say,
āOh my god.ā
ā¦in perfect chorus.
I did not realize up until that moment that shocking a crowd of strangers with my paint color choices was a life goal, but at that moment I felt an absolutely overwhelming sense of achievement.
This is the door to my garage. It used to be white. Live your best life.
Mischief the cat says āWho goes there?ā
Every visiting friend says āThis is so cool.ā
If youāre looking for an excuse to do some decorating that will make your soul sing, this entire thread is your sign to do it and donāt look back!

Iām 35. I have been told my place looks like maybe a LP fan lives there.
Not sure what they mean.
When I first moved into my place, I painted the spare room, that eventually became my office, lime green, the kind of lime green that glows down the corridor when I open the door - The colour was only available as an āaccent colourā in the section of paints intended for childrenās playrooms, and in the shop I got a lot of āOh your son will love this!ā And from people I knew I got a lot of āOh well, youāre 21 now, youāre basically a teenager, this is a terrible idea, youāll hate it and need to pull out all the furniture to repaint it.ā And I have to report that I am now in my forties and my office still looks like this, and it makes me smile every time I see it.
this is such a modern idea, too
not decorating trends; those have always existed. but the idea that color and decoration is inherently childish
this is the dining room at the Eustis Estate in Milton, Massachusetts, from 1878 (where I used to work, briefly). the walls are TEXTURED MICA SHIMMER on a green background. Adult Space For Adults!
A jewelry shop in Paris c. 1901. kids canāt buy jewelry!
who can forget the classic 1950s colorful bathroom? Iām not a huge fan, but still! adult space! bright colors; decorative designs!
meanwhile āyouāre immature if you like Art Nouveauā is a hot take Iāve really, seriously seen on this webbed site (only once, thank the gods). I donāt know who started this, but Iām going to kill them
I think a lot of it stems from the ubiquitous Waterhouse prints that were sold on college campuses for 20 years. like why would I get a free pass if it were Monet instead Western culture is stupid. The entire point of being an adult is breakfast for dinner and cake for breakfast and dying with the most toys.
instantly decided to reblog when i got to GROWING UP DOESNāT MEAN YOU HAVE TO ABANDON WHAT MAKES YOU HAPPY.
The examples of decorated homes above are both either modern or upper class, which makes it easy to dismiss because āsure the rich people have beautiful homesā and āsure, modern middle-class people have lots of color in their homes.ā
So hereās two examples of traditional Norwegian farmhouse interiors. You know. The kinds of places peasants live in.
This type of painting is called ārosemalingā and today you usually find it on, like, carved wooden bowls and such that are only used for decoration. But back two centuries ago, it was very common to find the interiors of homes covered in it, in projects that were painted little by little over the decades. Because itās beautiful to look at, paint is the cheapest way of decorating your house, and what else are you going to do on the long winter nights when itās too dark and cold to work outdoors?
But mostly, they did it because it made them happy, and it was beautiful.
Those old peasants were on to something, I think.
I painted rooms in my house these colors and some people had doubts:
I have been SO HAPPY.
My wife painted the walls of my studio ORANGE. Glorious sunset orange.
I have always wanted a room that was an amazing color and this one is mine.
Everytime my partner wants to do something Weird to the house, he says something like "but that might lower the resale value" and like, I mean maybe? But my go to response has become "We're not renting from future owners."
There's very little you can do to a house that you can't undo if you want to sell it, and a lot of those Weird things are either neutral things that we don't even need to undo (e.g., tile in the living room instead of carpet) or things that, for the right person, would be a value *add* (So Many raised garden beds in the back).
sorry to be brave on the internet but I think food labels should list every single ingredient and that there should be harsher penalties for mislabeling and deceptive labeling
Seconded.
Do.....do other places not do this?
Myne it's an England thing but I've just grabbed the closest things to me and they both have an extensive list of ingredients.
Hand cream
Turkish delight/Chocolate
Hi! so both of these labels actually have the exact problem we're complaining about!
from label 1:
in the US and EU, this is a generic term meaning "something we put in here to make it smell nice" and there is absolutely NO way of knowing if that is a scent you are allergic to or not. some of these can be a mix of up to 200 distinct components.
from label 2:
i think you can probably see the problem here?
the issue isn't that we don't have ingredient lists. the issue is that "trade secrets" are more important than people's lives, so if a company says that listing the actual ingredients might allow people to copy them, it is legal for them to put "it's a secret, tee hee".
I've seen a lot of terrible analysis of this photo.
People are either shoving it through an AI detector, asking Grok, or they are peeping pixels with expertise they don't have.
Like, you can't go drawing straight lines on something with a highly skewed perspective that also has a distorted shape.
Let's ask Mecha-Hitler!
Or upload it to a sketchy AI detection website!
They often have the accuracy of a coin flip. Even lab-grade tools are only 70 to 80% accurate in controlled conditions. And yet people are trusting a free website with an ad for boner pills in the corner to tell them if something is authentic.
I have been doing high level photo manipulation for two decades. I'm as close to an expert as you will get on Tumblr dot com.
So let's properly peep at the pixels and do actual forensic analysis.
First, I think this is mostly a real photo. Probably taken at some other point in time.
And I don't think this is fully AI generated. I actually think it is a traditional composite. I think the hand and newspaper are separate assets that were blended. It's possible the hand was AI-generated and then composited. And I think they may have taken a real photo of someone holding a newspaper and replaced the hand.
The first oddity is the fingers.
Typically when you touch an object it creates a contact shadow. One finger has a contact shadow and the other does not.
It should probably look more like this.
The next sign of a composite is the edge of the finger.
There is a sign of a feathered edge.
This is a lazy compositing technique to help edges blend without making a super precise selection. If you look at all of the other edges in the photo, this is the only one that has a feathered edge. You can see how clean all the other edges are by the top arrow and how fuzzy the finger edge is by the bottom arrow.
If I were cutting out his other hand and taking the time to do it properly, I would clean up the edge to make sure it was consistent with everything else in the photo.
If I were in a hurry, I would just feather the edge and hope no one actually zooms in.
And then there is the edge of the newspaper.
This is called a matte line. The newspaper was most likely against a dark background when they cut it out, and they did not clean up the edge.
Again, it's lazy. Because Photoshop has a tool dedicated to fixing this exact issue.
In my expert opinion, I think they generated an AI hand, took a photo of someone holding a newspaper in similar lighting, and then manually blended them into an existing photo.
But I don't think this was 100% AI-generated. You typically don't see compositing errors in generated images. They probably couldn't get the AI to generate the newspaper without garbled text.
What's curious is that the pixel resolution is just barely bad enough that you cannot tell if the text is authentic. But it's not blurred or distorted. It is just low enough in resolution to give a sense of text without being legible. And I think that made people suspicious due to AI's reputation when text is involved.
But from what I can tell, the print size and letter spacing does seem to match.
So I don't think that is the clue people are making it out to be.
Last thing, image analysis like this is not 100% conclusive. I'm pretty sure there are shenanigans, but anyone who tells you with absolute confidence that an image is fake... is probably bullshitting or ignorant.
The missing contact shadow could be explained by the angle of the light filling it in.
The feathered edge could be motion blur.
The edge of the newspaper could be a sharpening artifact.
But the fact that the hand and the newspaper were vital aspects of the photo for proof of life, those three variables make this really damned suspicious.
THE ONLY SHIP THAT IS BAD IS CENSORSHIP
Congratulations on lining up a hysterectomy!!!! I had mine years ago and it was the best thing that ever happened to my body; I'm so excited for you! Right after i had mine the doctors said its normal to feel your bladder sort of flopping about when you move while it heals since there's extra room there now, which feels pretty weird, so you'll get to perhaps have that experience. not having to worry about bleeding ever is so freeing, literally life changing, and no cramps ever because there's nothing to cramp anymore, she's getting evicted!!
Honestly one huge issue I've had is that the giant asshole fucker cyst on my left ovary is pressing on my bladder, and I have to pee approximately every 22 minutes. I'm SO fucking over it. Ready to experience this instead tbh.
Sometimes they will pin your bladder to your abdominal wall instead of letting it flop about (that's what they did to me, or at least what I was told) so it could be you get all the benefits and none of the flappy bladder downsides. They did warn me that it could fall down at some point (???) but I'm almost 10 years in at this point and so far I haven't *noticed* that happen. And that seems like a thing you would notice? Idk.
Either way 10/10 would recommend, congrats on the yeeterus!
Does anyone know what to do about the temperature and also the prices
Reblog to give mutuals a break from whatever they're been going through
so many people genuinely underestimate just how much men are taught to hate women expressing any agency at all and how much they will go out of their way to discredit women even at their own detrimentā¦for example that video feed where a woman got stuck in an elevator with 12 teenage boys and whenever she tried to alert maintenance that the elevator malfunctioned a few of those boys very loudly talked over her and gave conflicting information JUST to get a reaction out of her. there were so many comments basically saying that it wasnāt fair to bunch in every one of those boys with the deliberately harmful few because they didnāt TECHNICALLY do anything to interfere with the situation but the thing is they r all complicitā¦not once did they think to tell their friend to shut the fuck up or do ANYTHING other than stand with their hands folded and giggle at this woman begging them to be quiet. it really just feels like the same old story where time and time again men prove that they just donāt see women as their equals at all and that when push comes to shove they are just as untrustworthy and unreliable as their peers through their own negligence and pacifism
