I mean, imagine being him.
His dad was probably a little absent but it wasn't so bad, he had his mom! They had fun they spend a lot of time together and then she slowly dies in front of you, and you're reaching puberty/in a important age of development.
Your dad is STILL absent in your life, either keeping his time with being miserable, with the darn sword youre cursed in the future to perhaps also hold, and god knows what, beacuse he's just a kid who doesn't get the privlage of knowing what is his dad doing.
Then she dies, and his world crumbles. But he still got his best friend Kyoko right? And espescially now he can both kinda- bond, with the loss of the closest one, with her. He tried to fill in the void making pranks but over time they became more mean spirited, (headcanon time ->) pulling in his friend into it, hoping that perhaps doing it with somone else will help- until they both fail at a prank and get caught.
Brad gets scolded hard, dad giving him attention and it's out of anger, beacuse he 'went too far', and Kyoko, his best friend? Suddenly she can't hang out with you anymore, people he perhaps considered second family suddenly turn on him. "You're a bad influence" They said. 'You're poisoning her head", "You're preventing her from sucess" They said too.
Another added in gulit, another person he lost.
He still has his dad, but does he really? The only time he got attention is when he was being lectured either about his behaviour or potential future burdens. Resentment slowly bulding up.
Then he goes too far, an accident, a fire starts. In his eyes, he didn't mean it, not all of it, but the town turned on him, his community resented him so much they wanted him gone. And his dad? According to his perspective he was a bit too fast to kick him out.
Nobody wanted him, was forced to go to a town he's a stranger to. Imagine him being lost, having literally nobody, no shoulder to cry on, nobody who knew him as this lost kid. He becomes a lost grown adult who learned that no matter what he did it ended up bad, so might as well play into this role and try to mold himself into it.
I headcanon that he was doing graffiti, throwing rocks at glass, kicking down trash, etc, being sort of a piece of shit. Not only did he do it beacuse he was quite literally lashing out and not having a healthy form of controling his anger, but also beacuse that's the time where he got attention, where he was a threat, somone to not play with, somone who was 'cool'. Growing in thorns, keeping others away from exposing his soft self. He became toxic.
Another headcanon is his dad never visited, and if he did it was very rare and short. I mean, the man never answered back to Monty, not even ONE letter. The only time perhaps Brad heard of him was through newspaper, some pity money to live off and bail out letters. It was kind maybe but it all felt empty and insulting.
I keep thinking of him being arrested and looking kind of...like an animal, especially when he bared his teeth.
Leer came in and weponized his anger and resentment to his dad. They reminded him of the stupid, bloody venomshank. In Brads eyes, the sword was what ruined his life and has been cursing this family for generations (reminder that Bart Thanyiels father was also a gurdian)
And then wow, he got the visions, another life he had claimed, of course he lashed out again and wanted to stop it.
A-and then he becomes a freak of nature, a plant robloxian person.
Not only it changed his life visually but also quite literally his way of living.
I genuinly think Brad hates almost anything about himself and thinks he's impossible to be cared for. The last person who DID care about him through thick and thin was his mom, and it was AGES ago.
I also headcanons he commits selft harm, but not through cutting, more like plucking at his leaves, punching stuff (thats why the mirror is cracked) sometimes to the point of his knuckles bleeding. Perhaps his overconsumption of the soda can count too.
I really like Brad as a character and I find him tragic. Keeping shipping aside, Player is - without arguing- the best thing that happend in his life. Not only they saved his life, proving people cared, they also became his friend, thanks to them he could reconnect with Kyoko and his dad, and in the future perhaps with Calypso. The community also seems to not hate Brad anymore, I like to think they feel bad for him.
It's just tragic they have to leave, like others did in his life before.

The new EHRC Code of Practice pushes trans people out of toilets, hospital wards, and community spaces. It normalises gender policing based on appearance and stereotypes. It became statutory guidance in the UK on August 5th, 2026.
Trans people are now legally their assigned gender at birth and must join gendered spaces accordingly, but if they are perceived as their lived gender, they can also be ejected from those spaces. The guidance says: either break the law, or don’t pass too well.
A mass lobby is where you invite your MP to discuss your concerns with you in-person. Our demands have changed. Ask your MP to:
Write to Ministers and Prime Minister Andy Burnham to say they are profoundly concerned by the rolling back of trans rights, and that they believe that it is time for Parliament to legislate to protect equality for trans people.
Ask parliamentary questions focused on protecting trans people’s rights and defending trans people’s abilities to live safe and dignified lives.
Speak up both inside and outside Parliament in defence of trans people’s rights.
Meet regularly with trans constituents to understand their lived realities.
Your MP does not have to be an ally, they do not have to respond to your email for you to show up and greencard them (details below the cut.) What matters is that as many people as possible show up.
I cannot stress this enough: Showing up in person matters. It is much more effective than petitions, emails, and letters.
We have already had some wins because we took action. The 2026 EHRC guidance has already rolled back its most harmful elements because of mass campaigning by individuals like us, and groups like The Good Law Project. This summer, 166 MPs signed the Early Day Motion 240 to reject the EHRC Code of Practice, because of our campaigning. That is 1 in 4 MPs.
It is a horrible, stressful time, and I am so sorry if you're trans and live in the UK. But I was at last year's mass lobby and the line for greencarding alone stretched around the back gates. It was a record breaking mass lobby and made us impossible to ignore. Let's do even better this time. Details under the cut:

Bring your personal worries about transphobia being signed into law, and trans friends being excluded from public spaces. You are a living person who deserves dignity. Remind your MP of that. Got a refusal or no response from your MP?
Come anyway! You can request a same-day appointment with your MP through a process called greencarding. They will come and see you if they’re already in Parliament. Even if they don’t, they’re made acutely aware of your cause because you showed up in person. This is my greencard from last year.
Here is the EHRC Code of Practice in full. It's a tough read, but some highlights are:
Organisations can’t provide trans-inclusive, single-sex services, or they risk being sued for discrimination. e.g. domestic violence support for women including trans women, men’s rugby group including trans men (12.68).
Trans people will have nowhere safe to pee. If you’re a trans man, businesses can't allow you to pee in the men's, and you can also be ejected from women’s bathrooms if you’re perceived as a man. Vice versa for trans women. EHRC suggests a ‘third space’ bathroom, which is discriminatory and unworkable for most businesses. (13.130-133)
Sports organisations must exclude trans people from single-sex competitions (13.73). A women’s only sports competition must exclude trans women because of their biological advantage or face potential lawsuits (13.74), but a trans man who has undergone testosterone treatment can also be excluded based on fairness rules (13.81).
Trans women are stripped of the legal definition of ‘lesbian’, and therefore no longer have legal protections if they’re discriminated against on the basis of sexual orientation. (2.50, 2.92).

Od stycznia 2027 (w niektórych częściach świata już od tego września) google będzie wymagać weryfikacji developerów na wszystkich urządzeniach z androidem. Oznacza to, że żeby aplikacja mogła być zainstalowana na telefonie z androidem będzie musiała być pobrana ze sklepu play, a jej twórce będzie musiał

Mam nadzieję, że już to wystarczy, żeby część z was przekonać, (bo ja na przykład uważam, że niezależni twórcy nie powinni podpisywać cyrografu z googlem tylko po to, żeby mieć jakąkolwiek szansę zaistnienia w branży,) ale jeśli nie, to jeszcze co to będzie znaczyć dla przeciętnego użytkownika. Nie będzie się dało instalować:
alternatyw dla sklepu play takich jak F-droid oferujący mnóstwo aplikacji od niezależnych deweloperów czy nawet Aurora Store, który oprócz (moim zdaniem) dużo czytelniejszego interfejsu oferuje pobieranie aplikacji ze sklepu play bez wiązania ich z twoim kontem
forków i klientów różnych serwisów, takich jak NewPipe czy PipePipe dających dostęp do youtuba bez reklam i z odtwarzaniem w tle
starszych wersji aplikacji, niedostępnych już na sklepie play (jak np tumblr sprzed głupich zmian interfejsu)
amatorskich aplikacji tworzonych przez pasjonatów
projektów początkujących programistów stworzonych na game jamach lub kółkach
A nawet jeśli ktoś korzysta tylko i wyłącznie z aplikacji tworzonych przez duże korporacje i ma gdzieś polską branżę technologiczną i dane osobowe innych ludzie, myślę, że sam fakt, że decyzja jednej firmy wystarczy, żeby miliony użytkowników nie mogły nagle korzystać ze swoich urządzeń w taki sposób w jaki były im reklamowane kiedy je kupowali (bo oczywiście nowe restrykcje wejdą na WSZYSTKICH androidach bez żadnego potwierdzenia ze strony właściciela urządzenia), już to powinno wystarczyć, żeby chcieć jednak coś z tym zrobić
