I actually haven't been able to stop thinking about this article all day. I'm jittery. Emily Wilson destroyed Christopher Nolan. She basically said "it was nice of him to renew interest in the Odyssey even if he didn't understand the Odyssey at all and did a bad job at it." I feel so vindicated. im not done talking about this actually - tumblr is so good at maintaining a mainstream reputation of being "that gay website" while having internal behaviours that showcase it being anything but a safe space, esp. for trans women.

it doesnt surprise me that such a site would go on and advertise something like this, implying that the user base would benefit from changing their appearance, especially while (medical) gender affirming care is becoming harder to safely access. there's disappointingly little research done on the trans* body and a heightened vulnerability to developing disordered eating behaviours (regardless of diagnostic status), but all that does points towards there being a clear connection between the two (sources below cut, saved from a paper I wrote last semester). naturally, of course, access to any and all forms of gender affirming care - medical, emotional, etc - alleviates the severity of symptoms (woah, who'd have thought? /s).

anyways tl;dr, tumblr once again proves it has no regard for the wellbeing of its userbase.
