sometimes being a fan of something means not wanting them to make any more of it
widow's bay is like what if a nightvale sister city situated on the coast of new england was ran by the spiritual successor to the mayor from jaws but the tourism push was motivated by crushing paternal guilt and his podunk constituents (including his son) did not respect his authority even a little bit. and the show was a comedy
patricia is an elite level character i'm completely obsessed
Up to this point, all we have is Patricia’s word that she was targeted by the masked killer who murdered several classmates. In the fourth episode, Patrica tells a Widow’s Bay newcomer about her brush with death, but this is quickly shot down by the women who don’t believe she received hang-up calls from the killer or that she evaded the Boogeyman by hiding under her bed. It turns out they are half right—Patricia admits in episode 8 that she lied about the creeper calls. “She has this awful thing happen to her, and then realizes that it's not quite the same as what everyone else [who died went through],” O’Flynn says. “Then her fear of not being believed causes the lie, which causes everybody to not believe her—very identifiable.”
Widow’s Bay’s Final Girl Talks Surviving the Boogeyman and Living on a Cursed Island - Elle
hello I am here to spread the good news about Widow’s Bay
this is the most delightful horror comedy I’ve seen in years. genuinely equally funny and unnerving. and it’s clever which is my favorite kind of horror comedy
AND it’s nautical horror guys it’s so good
i am begging everyone to tune in to widows bay on apple tv. it has it all. small island location. matthew rhys endearing try hard mayor. quirky and hilarious staff. evil fog. haunted inns. amazing comedic moments. killer clowns. boogeymen. sea hags. a dead priest. episode 4 my favorite by far. i love you patricia and i want to be your friend. my new favorite show rn
Literally always take headphones with you. If you decide that you probably won't need them today, that's the devil talking. You will. You will
horror movies are so much scarier when the actors look like an average sampling of the human population. and the house is a little messy
when everyone has veneers and the house is pristine and tastefully decorated: (in the back of my mind) these people were hand-selected for visual appeal. this is a set. this is a story
when the actor has a little acne and there are dirty dishes in the sink: aaaaahhhhh this is just like Me and My House ahhhhhhhhhh!!!!
when everyone has veneers and the house is pristine and tastefully decorated: (in the front of my mind) these people had it coming
im completely addicted to Open Link in New Tab
if Open Link in New Tab is wrong then baby i dont want to be right
tbh it’s a red flag that the inventor of chiropractic got the idea from a ghost. bones are like the #1 thing ghosts don’t have
“know no shame” is about Flint’s sexual orientation and love for Thomas, sure, but in the context of the 2.09 dialogue between him and Miranda… it’s also about him preaching about pirates not being the monsters civilization label them to be since season 1 episode 1, and then revealing to his closest partner/dead bf’s wife/mistress that every day he has worn the name he has chosen for himself as a pirate, he has been ashamed of it and horrified of who he was becoming, and has always secretely wished to come back to a quiet anonymous (far from shame, but also away from piracy) life that it is now possible only by coming back to civilization. (But civilization has labelled him a monster way before he was a pirate, trying to make him feel shame for who he was, and by the anger toward this rejection and shame forced upon him Captain Flint was born, this thing he is horrified and ashamed of NOW, and the only solution to end THIS shame he felt for himself and his violence is coming back to make a pact with the society that made him violent in the first place, so it’s a circle that will never ends.)
Orgasm denial. Orgasm anger. Orgasm bargaining. Orgasm depression and orgasm acceptance.
cant stand when a mocktail costs as much as actual alcohol. Like i guess i would understand it if they used really fancy ingrediants but sometimes its like soda + juice in a nice glass for 9$ and its like cmon
people should be allowed to have low ambition, and also be able to feed a family on the salary of a cashier at a convenience store.
My very first job was at Taco Bell, and most of us working there were horrible young adults with horrible young adult problems, but one of my coworkers was a woman in (I think) her 50s.
And us horrid young adults would ask her why she still worked at Taco Bell, because it was starter job and who would want to stay there forever? Her response?
“I make enough money to make sure I always have roses in my bedroom.”
This answer changed me as a person. It changed the way I thought about what makes someone successful, and made me step back and realize that I was so caught up in what I thought success and happiness should mean that I didn’t know what I wanted them to mean.
Which is to say that sometimes ambition is making enough money to keep fresh roses in your bedroom, and you should be able to do that working at Taco Bell.
"there's no platonic explanation for this" WRONG my characters are staving off the heat death of the universe through the power of friendship
[ID: the Sue Sylvester "I am going to create an [x] that is so [y]" meme edited to say "I am going to write an platonic friendship that is so intimate" End ID]
I believe authors should be cryptic and unhelpful in the interpretation of their own work or even act like they’re dead and never comment on it ever
Can everyone who makes video content do a Deaf bitch a favor? Watch your shit with the captions on and the sound off, and then do another round of editing to fix things including but not limited to:
Captions cover the spot on the screen you put the information I need
The dialogue is captioned but not the song you have playing that the dialogue is responding to
You only captioned the person on the screen, not the person off screen who is also talking
No captioning of critical sound effects (alarms, bells, dogs barking, etc)
Speakers are not labelled at moments where it is not clear on the screen who is talking.
Captions cover the spot on the screen that you put the information I need!
Other d/Deaf people welcome to add.
This post brought to you by the fifth video tutorial I could not follow because the bad, auto-generated captions covered what I was trying to watch today.
