“Can you move your seat up?”
“No.”
“But you should try talking just a little bit slower.”
Fastest cinnamon roll alive.
my favourite Bucky lines in CACW:
1) Steve: you didn’t have a choice [in killing]. Bucky: I know. But I did.
2) Tony: do you even remember them? Bucky: I remember them all.
3) Bucky: can you move your seat up? Sam: no.
4) Bucky: What about your friends? Steve: [I’ll deal with that later]. Bucky: Steve, I don’t even know if I’m worth all of this.
(Like??? Babe no)
don’t be upsetti, eat some dick
Civil War.
This isn’t the way I wanted to remember the movie, like: Honestly it was so fucking good and I knew enough plot for it to be grounding, but no spoilers and it was so good, I really don’t know how to express it. I got to have a fucking great date with a goddamn cute girl and some Straight Cis White Male heckles me because I’m laughing at a good scene happening? And then again? Okay, I’m not gonna let these SCWM bother me, ruin my viewing, right, because I’m enjoying something I love.
And we’re sitting in the really nice, squishy reclining seats because we deserved a little niceness and the theater is great and I get the captions set up and she grabs my hand a couple times; we have a really nice friendship/hand-holding/dates/butterflies thing established, right? And I’m not at all worrying about Matvey and how he would have reacted to every little thing and I’m enjoying this for me, being excited for me, re-learning a Bucky and Steve that I care about separate from my love with him. And it’s fine and I’m happy. And then fucking Cap and Agent 13 kiss? Could you not, right? But they kiss in front of Bucky, in front of Sam. Bucky, who has shown full but tenuous recovery. And then they cut to them, with these shit-eating, chauvinistic grins on their faces and I want to vomit. And I realise the entire fucking theater is titillated by these needless heterosexuality, the misogyny of creating a woman just for Cap, just for a three-second plot-line that fizzles. And the audience gobbles it up; the definition of “I don’t want you blatantly waving your heterosexuality around, I would not show this to my kids, the degradation of culture.” And it takes me minutes of starting to panic, starting to cry, starting to shake, holding myself in check to reimagine the scene to the point where I can breathe enough again. It’s my second date with this incredible girl whose face lights up when she sees me, and I’m having a panic attack, holding myself gingerly four inches away from her. Keeping myself together for what, the sanctity of this room full of strangers that already doesn’t like my laugh, why would they care if I’m sobbing. And why is this affecting me anyhow, that some fictional character is being pinkwashed? Is it my love. Is it characterisation. Is it just a simple thing. But I have to spend minutes re-imagining the scene to realise it might just be Sam being a dude and Bucky thinking “Yes, Steve does have that game.” But they made it look on the surface to garner that audience, the people whom everything is catered to. Having to do the same thing people do when watching porn, like, convincing themselves that she consented and signed paperwork and has a safeword when what’s probably actually happened is that her rape is being played again and again and consumed as media.
It’s not even that we, the complaining Queer, wanted anything necessarily gay to happen, but were those thirty seconds really to important to film and keep in the final cut? DID YOU DRIVE YOUR POINT HOME YET MARVEL?
And so I’m here, panicking, having to stop myself from blowing up, from exploding, from imploding, from everything. Trying to enjoy this movie we’ve been hyped about for years, and then this; and this is always how I’m going to remember the first time I saw CA:CW, is panicking in the cushiest, fanciest place possible. And feeling so stifled by the utter and overwhelming approval, how many heterosexuals are out there, why our culture is still as appalling as it is. Any and all of the work that we, that I, have done, utterly eradicated by this mass, this ten seconds of screen time. We’re not even worth an omittion.
You know how they say, if you pause just before, if you stifle an orgasm, you edge, you bring it down, you work up again, you stop, you press a little harder, you breathe, you edge enough times for long enough, it becomes a much stronger orgasm? Yeah, well, it’s like that with panic attacks too. I’ve never built it up that powerful before. And I finally, finally, got home after a kick-ass, amazing date and I hadn’t breathed all night. I wanted to enjoy this marvellous creation so badly. So so much, and can I even enjoy it in the future, no matter how hard I re-associate?
And I’m home from it and God is smiling on me, and I don’t know how or why They still do that. And he says he knows panic attacks and it’s okay to ask for help. And he holds me for two fucking hours. It’s not like I’m about to tell him what ridiculousness set me off, or the big underlying thing that I am physically barred from speaking about; yet he talks me through it, explains things, is logical and empathetic and touches me when I haven’t had human contact in weeks. Understands. Knows.
Thank God.
“i’ve said all year i don’t swing and i meant it. kissing you doesn’t make me look at any of them differently. the only one i’m interested in is you.” “don’t say stupid things.” “stop me.”

NGE - Rei and Asuka
compiled them all together :’D
a rambly set of thoughts on why Finn is Luke’s son.
Elsepost someone asked if I had a summary of my thoughts on Finn Skywalker, and I didn’t, so here is a rambly and ineffectively structured one.
So first, anyone looking for a Skywalker force user example to use to look for a new Skywalker tends to forget about Leia.
If you consider Finn - who is noted in the prequel novella about his life to be a natural leader who rallies his other Stormtroopers and who in the novelization Poe says several times seems to have some sort of inspiring effect upon Poe, making Poe feel like he can do anything, feel alert and refreshed and ready to take action - as an heir to *Leia*’s way of being a force user, then there’s a big clue.
Look how that entire room of Resistance generals listens to him. He’s not just nobody, he’s a Stormtrooper, yet no one is suspicious. No one consider him a n00b. Instant trust, a thing that Poe’s POV in the novelization takes pains to point out. That feeling Poe says is one that makes you feel like throwing in with him and following him anywhere. Know who else Poe has similar thoughts about? Yup. General Organa. He heroine worships her.
But also consider that:
1. Finn’s designator, 2187, is Leia’s cell number in ANH. 2. Like Luke in ANH, Finn, dressed as a Stormtrooper, goes to that cell and rescues a beautiful enemy captive! He even whips that helmet off like Luke did. 3. Carefully watch everything Finn does in the tie fighter and the MF.
3a. He guns like Luke. 3b. He has a “woo hoo/good shooting/ don’t get cocky” thing with Poe like Luke had with Han. 3c. He *picks up and looks at the little training sphere thing* that Obi-Wan had Luke training with on board the MF. A little sphere thing that *zapped Luke* the same way our new droid sphere, BB8, zaps Finn when he meets Rey. 3d. A *tentacle creature grabs him and is trying to eat him* and he has to be rescued by his companion(s). He also gets the garbage chute callback with Phasma.
He is also the person whose seemingly mundane experience (shooting wompa rats/as a janitor on Starkiller Base) is what results in the destruction of the Death Star du jour. Rey has no involvement in that aspect of the plot at all.
No matter who Rey is, I firmly believe that Finn is the Skywalker. Consider that Kathleen Kennedy said that the saga films are about the Skywalker family. In the SWU, like America, kids take their father’s last names by default traditionally, and wives use their husband’s. Ben Solo. In the EU, Leia Organa-Solo, Jaina, and Anakin Solo, vs Luke’s son, Ben Skywalker. Mara Jade Skywalker, Luke’s wife. In the film we don’t known what name Leia used before the divorce. So we were more likely to be looking for a male Skywalker than a female anyway.
Add to that the fact that early on when the lead candidate for Finn was a blond blue-eyed white guy it was rumored he was to play Luke’s son (and they were looking for a black or biracial British woman to play Rey), and the fact that they had John Boyega use an American accent for Finn…
Early in TFA, when Finn has had his moment of truth/I cannot be a Stormtrooper moment, Kylo gives him a pointed look, right? He shows later that he knows exactly which Stormtrooper Finn is, has learned his name. Then later in the snow he battles first Finn, who then gets knocked out, then Rey, and does the “it *is* you” line that a canon source has now said we should not necessarily consider to indicate he knows her already but that he thinks she’s the one he sensed “awakening.“
Now consider that perhaps what hit Ren’s radar was that Finn was maybe force sensitive, but also Rey hit his radar that way, so he didn’t know which one of them had “awakened.” Then, the “it *is* you” becomes the moment when Ren decides it must’ve been Rey, not Finn…but really it’s both.
Who uses the Skywalker lightsaber first? Finn does. Finn lights that thing up first, not Rey.
The evidence for Rey being a Skywalker is largely cosmetic. She’s a pilot…sort of. The prequel novella actually shows us that she has only ever piloted one thing before, and that all her piloting and mechanical knowledge comes from the same place Finn’s shootin’ and battle knowledge comes from: simulations. Long ago she found a huge sim library of ships and flight sims and it was her only intellectual outlet, so she memorized it. Also, she only flies the MF and she isn’t that great at it, and the MF is not a fighter anyway. She has a junk sort of speeder that is red, but she also has a lot of junk left over from the Battle of Jakku. She lives in an at-at torso, like Luke in the tauntaun, but so? It is *there*. Lots of people live in wrecked ships on Jakku and drive salvaged vehicles.
What are the things that aren’t circumstantial? Luke quite specifically never can speak droid to R2. But Rey can speak to both BB8 and Chewie instantly in what is obvs a use of the force - Finn even calls her on the Chewie thing. Know who in ANH can understand anyone, and shows it by understanding both R2 and Chewie in the first half of ANH? Not Luke. Obi-Wan.
So Luke’s lightsaber calls to her? Well, she gets NEAR it first. It shows her scenes she couldn’t have been there for (Bespin) which indicate the memory is stored in the device, which could indicate she has psychometry. Then she sees a memory that is possibly hers observed from another perspective, then one of Luke and R2, has a future vision, has an odd one about the Knights, and she hears two different Obi-Wans. And as mentioned previously she doesn’t use the lightsaber first. Finn does. So the lightsaber calling to her says nothing specifically “Skywalker” about her.
I’d also like to note that structurally, Ren and Finn’s encounter is given foreshadowing and import. If Finn is just some rando, why? Finn is a co-lead but people never speculate about his ancestry beyond his skin color. If Finn was still a white guy you couldn’t shut people up about how he is so clearly Luke’s son.
@reyreylo Ohmygoodness. thank you so much for directing me to this! @iseeyourreylo you, my friend, are my hero.
I’d also like to add, just from a filmmaking and marketing perspective, which is a bit more my forte:
I’ve seen the movie 9 times, and every single time the theatre has been packed and I’ve been privy to everyone talking about their theories and speculations. You know what has been the most common theory out of everything? (Besides Ren and Rey beings twins which is obviously false).
“Oh, she’s Luke’s daughter.”
If the 45-year old woman behind me sees that’s what they’re going for, without reading theories all day, without writing essays and speaking at length on the subject, without devoting their free time to understanding more about the movie… If the most casual of viewers think she’s Luke’s daughter, what makes anyone think that everyone else wouldn’t see the obvious references as well?
Now tell me, if you were attempting to build suspense and get people to pack the theatres to find out more information about the mysteries you’ve set up, would you go with the obvious storyline that’s going to leave people in the theatre going “TOLD YOU, SHE’S LUKE’S DAUGHTER” or are you going to to give a more stunning reveal that leaves people going “What the hell, FINN is Luke’s kid? I didn’t see that coming at all!” I honestly think that all the references to Luke within Rey’s character are specifically meant to act as a red herring to both her and Finn’s true parentage.
If anything, I think the fact that Finn wants to run and the fact that Luke was more worried about getting home for dinner than getting involved in the fight shares a better common storyline than Rey and Luke both discovering how to use the force. The fact that both Finn and Luke were unwilling to fight and then ended up saving the galaxy when they realized they HAD to fight for something strikes a stronger parallel in my head.
I’ve spoken at length about how I believe Finn is force sensitive, and how the “awakening” that Snoke and Ren talk about happens before Rey does anything particularly force-worthy - other than “not knowing how” she flew the Falcon - and I think they’re talking about Finn breaking out of his conditioning. I will say that I wholeheartedly believe the panel Rey uses to save Finn from the rathtar is in her head, as a manifestation of the force, but I don’t think that’s the awakening. Add that to Maz Kanata - who is force sensitive - encouraging Finn to use the lightsaber, I think him being Force Sensitive is not just a theory, but an obvious fact. And while being force sensitive isn’t necessarily genetic - though more likely if you have one or both force sensitive parents - I believe that Finn got his force powers from his father, Luke Skywalker.
The argument that he can’t be Luke’s son because of his skin color is troubling to say the least. Even beyond the fact that our genetics can produce such an occurrence, what people fail to realize is that even though Luke and Leia and Han and all these characters are called human, and look human, they aren’t necessarily the humans of Earth. Remember, this takes place a long time ago, in a galaxy far far away. Their genetics may work on a completely different scale than ours do.
And I won’t even get into the bug theory.
Either way, they cast the best actor for the role, and I’m not going to let something like skin color get in the way of what I feel is a solid theory for the true Skywalker in this trilogy.
Reblogging for more awesome info ^
Genetics *definitely* work differently long ago in the galaxy far away. I mean, black hair is a dominant trait on earth but it managed to skip two generations of Skywalkers, so…
Uhm since we haven’t seen Finn’s mother, there’s no reason to think there’s something odd about him being black. For all we know he just looks like his mom.
I’m going to do a google search on genetics.
Why?
No one is suggesting Mark Hamill is John Boyega’s father.
The only relevant question is, “Would the decision makers consider Boyega’s skin tone a reason not to cast him as Luke’s son?” and the answer is “my god, no, of course not” with a side of “did you ask about genetics when the Force impregnated Anakin’s mom?”
