I will die by this statement: Kim Jong-un has more drip than 95% of bourgeoisie capitalist politicians.

so many americans being psychologically unwilling to grasp that the us political system is supporting this genocide because they WANT to because AMERICA IS AN EVIL COUNTRY and not because theyre scared of israel or because of a 'zionist takeover'... really feel like theres very little hope for the organized left in the us lol
Remember Marcellus Williams! A black Muslim man falsely accused. Remember that he's innocent. Remember that the governor of Missouri, mike Parson who had the opportunity to save this man's life, decided not to. Remember all but three supreme court justices decided his life wasn't worth saving either. Remember his face. Remember his Last words. And remember how fucked up this country is
Rest in peace Marcellus
No her husband should die
Ok, no.... I'm a military spouse. My husband has never been deployed and most people in the military never see combat (which is a good thing). Many join for the healthcare and GI bill. While active duty you are pretty much guaranteed to have funding for housing and it does pay pretty well depending on your rank. So I really can't blame people for joining, especially those who joined because they felt like they had no other options. Some join because without the healthcare for their disabled child they would go into astronomical debt.
Do I like what the military does? No. But I see how it can be helpful for our people to have even an ounce of what other countries grant all of their citizens. We need universal healthcare, free college, and affordable housing.
Oh, he doesn't kill people personally, he just helps others kill people. Oh, and he does it to improve his personal position in life. That somehow makes it better.
I hope he comes home to you in a box
Seriously, fuck you. You act all high and mighty as though you don't work to improve your own personal position in life too.
He was a broke trans guy in rural Texas who joined the military because after college he couldn't find a job where he was. He thankfully was sent to Massachusetts where we met. He does fucking admin work.
It's because of his income that I'm able to afford working at the nonprofit that I do and don't go into God damn medical debt because of my disabilities. You're so god damn judgemental that you can't stop to understand the full scenario. It's not our fault that the US is designed the way it is.
Only 1 in 10 soldiers even see combat. I vote the way I do because I want to get us out of wars so that the US isn't involved in imperialism as much as possible.
I wish you a lifetime of discomfort for wishing death on a stranger.
When a drone pilot blows up innocents, they are not the only person who's culpable. The person who performed maintenance on the drone is too. The people who transported the munitions, the people who fed everyone involved, the person on patrol in their base. And, yes, the person who does the administrative paperwork to facilitate the logistics in support of the above. Everyone is there for the same purpose. Not being the one who pulled the trigger is no excuse. This is what the US military is for.
Oh you don't like that I wished death on a stranger? Your husband materially contributes to the death and immiseration of billions of strangers. But, you know, he's probably not rude when he'e doing it, so I guess I'm the monster.
I'm glad he can support you so you can not go into medical debt because of your disabilities. Just don't ask about all the people he helped make disabled.
What do you do with your life? Seriously? What is your job there, @perpetual-oratorio ? What privileges do you have that you feel you can pass judgement on desperate people taken advantage of by a fucked up system?
Where does your high fucking horse come from?
The US military is predatory on US citizens, offering them things they have no chance of getting elsewhere. It chews them up and spits them out. And you're here sitting in judgement as if you have any fucking idea beyond some pretty fucking privileged leftist 'ideals'.
Which shouldn't include wishing death on anyone, so. Please. Do share.
I'm someone who can recognize that the soldiers aren't the actual victims of the US military, for one. Do you think about the people actually victimized by the US military at all?
Yes. I do. But do you actually think about them and how they are victimized, or do you just listen to a bunch of propaganda?
Do you think about how Afghanistan was left in a worse state than it was when the US entered, and how it could have been left in a better state if Dubya hadn't been a fucking idiot? Or do you just think about people killed in drone strikes, not even remembering any real details?
Do you think about how the invasion of Iraq engendered ISIS, and how we're still dealing with the fallout of that?
Or do you just go 'soldiers kill people' and ignore anything else?
Yes. Soldiers kill people. Sometimes, they kill people who want to kill others. Sometimes, they kill people they shouldn't. Usually, which of those they kill, and in which ratios, depends upon the orders they received. I'm not blaming some PFC for some General's fuckup. They were some poor dumb 18 year old who joined the army because it was that or join a gang or starve on the street.
Do you ever actually consider other people as people, or just toys for your righteous anger?
What point do you think you're making? Do you think I'm not also blaming those who set the policy? Of course I am. The reason that the soldiers are bad is because they're the ones enacting that policy. I thought that was obvious from what I was saying but I guess not.
Recognizing the systemic nature of the evils of US imperialism doesn't mean the people actually performing that imperialism at the ground level have no culpability.
Also, are you implying that invading Afghanistan could have ever been anything but an atrocity? Like the actual problem is just that Bush did it stupidly? For someone trying to argue that I don't understand the systemic nature of the problem, you're sure willing to make excuses for the systemic nature of the problem. What is the function of the US military? What do you think it's for?
My guiding light is this: Practical over ideal.
Afghanistan could have actually been left in a better state than it was when we invaded. However, that would have required helping set up a coalition government that would have included elements from the Taliban. But they wouldn't have had the full power they do now.
Literally, of all the invasions the US did after 9/11, Afghanistan was the one that had the most validity to it.
But you think that people trapped in the system should also die. You do not recognize that many soldiers are soldiers because the system gives them no other option. And you wish death upon them for the system that put them together.
I think that some wars are sadly necessary. I think many regimes must be toppled, and will not be from within.
But tell me this: do you wait for a glorious revolution that will fix things?
First and least importantly, the idea that the US military is predominantly made up of poor people seeking a better life is a myth
https://www.cfr.org/backgrounder/demographics-us-military
Not that that super matters. Murder and imperialism don't become ok just because you benefit from them.
More importantly, how can you have lived through the invasions of Iraq and Afghanistan and just think it was a problem of good intentions poorly executed? The point of both of them was three-fold: to funnel money to arms companies and those that would be involved in the "reconstruction", to facilitate the plunder of their natural resources by western corporations, and to "open markets" for western corporations, and by those metrics they succeeded wildly. THAT is what the US military is for.
I do actually appreciate that info, I was not as aware of it as I had previously been.
The fact remains that you have a tale of someone who basically had nowhere else to go and decided that they deserved to die because they went with the only possible option.
By the standards of judgement you have shown, you are yourself condemned.
Be better.
Choosing to kill people in order to keep the most brutal and oppressive empire alive for a little bit longer is actually the worse choice compared to starvation.
@eris-and-lokis-love-child you should kill yourself and @nerdymouse I hope your husband returns home in 6-7 discreet bodybags
thank you red hot yuri peppers
In these difficult times, Ahmed's family faces death time and again. They have been displaced from northern Gaza to Rafah, from Rafah to Khan Younis, and from Khan Younis to Al-Maghazi camp. Now, they are being forced to flee once more under the threat of eviction. Each displacement puts them in new danger, and each time they leave behind what they cannot carry, heading to unsafe places near the occupying forces' tanks, simply because other areas are overcrowded with displaced people and they have no choice but to stay close to danger.
Ahmed lives in constant worry and fear for his family. He cannot always stay in touch with them under these conditions and is haunted by the nightmare of potential massacres as they move to yet another location. It is time for all of us to stand by Ahmed's family and support them in escaping this hell.
The borders are currently closed, but there is hope. We must raise the necessary funds for their travel before the crossing opens, as the opportunity will not last long. Every minute of delay could be fatal.
I urge you from the depths of my heart to be part of this humanitarian effort. If you cannot donate, please help us by sharing this post with your friends and on your pages. Let us unite to save Ahmed's family before it's too late.

Please read this as if you were a member of your
family. Perhaps your brother, sister, or friend, imagining that my family, which is now under threat of death, is your family. My name is Mahdi. We used to live a peaceful life in our home, which was destroyed by the bombing in this war, destroying our present, memories of our past, and shattering our future. My house, built piece by piece, contained every drop of sweat I shed while working to provide my children with a decent and peaceful life. In an instant, a missile struck and destroyed it, but praise be to God in all circumstances.
After this destruction, I couldn't find a livelihood inside Gaza, nor could we find suitable work, education, or healthcare for human life. Because I care about my children and grandchildren, I want them to live a peaceful life, safely, and in the best condition possible.
So, I decided to create this link to ask for help to leave Gaza for Egypt. The cost is very high, and I cannot afford it. Then, move from Egypt to a foreign country. However, the financial cost of traveling from Gaza is too high for me, estimated at $6,000 per person. Also, my living expenses in Egypt to move to a foreign country also need funding.
My family consists of (Mahdi the father, Elham the wife, Mohammad the son, Saeed the son, Ahlam the daughter, Shareen the daughter, Sandus the son's wife, Ahmed the grandson, Saleh the grandson). My family is all I have in this world, and I fear for their survival in Gaza. Asking for your help is the only way I have to save my family's life and future. Your assistance may become our hope when hope is far from us in these circumstances. Every dollar you can donate may save a life, bring hope to weary hearts, and save the future of this family.
Please do not read this story as a tragic tale. I'm here to ask you to prevent it from becoming more tragic and to help us start our lives anew. I'm here to ask for your help, not your sympathy, to ask you to take action, whether by donating or sharing this with anyone you know who can help. Please read this with your heart and take action as if it were your family. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

On September 11th 1973, US-backed General Pinochet overthrew the democratically elected leader of Chile, Salvadore Allende. Pinochet ordered an air strike on the Presidential Palace, labor activists and famous folk guitarists were rounded up for torture, disappeared, and killed. Pinochet converted the national football stadium into a detention facility like Guantanamo Bay. Chile’s economy was turned into a plantation for the 1%, as inequality and poverty skyrocketed under the imposed Milton Friedman-style economic model. Over 40,000 Chileans became victims of Pinochet’s terror. In response, the Nixon administration committed more money, more training, more torture equipment. The world didn’t begin on September 11th, 2001. Rather, for the first time in modern history, Americans were visited by the same violence the US has imposed since its creation. In Chile, the US murdered tens of thousands and impoverished millions. This wasn’t America’s first foray in international terrorism, nor would it be the last. The United States security state is a terrorist and a plague on the people of the world.
