The Game Awards Spotlight: Assassin’s Creed Odyssey

Our next installment of this year’s The Game Awards Spotlight comes to us from the Ubisoft Quebec team around Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. Assassin’s Creed Odyssey was nominated for Game of the Year, Best Art Direction, Best Action/Adventure Game as well as Best Performance by Melissanthi Mahut as Kassandra. We spoke with Thierry Dansereau, the Art Director at Ubisoft Quebec, and Marc-Alexis Cote, Senior Producer at Ubisoft Quebec, about how they continue to innovate Assassin’s Creed and whether they chose Alexios or Kassandra.

What was the hardest part of creating Assassin’s Creed Odyssey?

Marc-Alexis: Oh my god. It’s just… I’ve been working on it for ten years now. It’s just trying to always reinvent ourselves is a constant challenge. So yeah.

Thierry: Yeah I agree with Marc-Alexis. It is always a constant challenge but, for Odyssey, we did tons of new things. I think the fans will appreciate it.

Who are your characters for Assassin’s Creed Odyssey? Did you pick Kassandra?

Marc-Alexis: Oh me? Kassandra, for sure.

Thierry: Same for me.
