Honestly, participating in ‘summer festivities’ sounded like something Dorian would rather not do. However, he knew the whole town would be in attendance so he figured, why not? It’s not like he had anything better to do. Plus, the food would probably be good, if nothing else. He wandered around the area until he ran into someone he recognized. “Heyyy, wanna go do something fun? And by that I mean something more fun than a summer themed carnival when it’s already damn near autumn? In my opinion, we could’ve waited till Halloween for this.”

He shoved his hands into his pockets, flexing his fingers to keep warm. “I swear, summer just decided to disappear overnight. Have you seen a coffee cart anywhere? I need to warm up if I’m going to enjoy the rides.”

The sun had just barely set, and it felt odd to be out and about, trying to have fun, when there was so much work to do back at the office. Tearing off a ribbon length of cotton candy from her stick, Viv glanced toward the games. “All those things are rigged. I wonder if I could bribe one of the attendants to let me buy that big stuffed bear…”

“Do you hear that noise?” Cass asked, nearly bouncing with excitement. “There are a bunch of people on the roof. They’re claiming the sky is going to be super clear tonight - that we’ll be able to see a bunch of stars. Or, considering that we’re in the city, we might be able to see some stars…or just a clear view of downtown.”

Ezra always had a soft spot for animals. Truth be told he had a soft spot for just about everything, but cats held a special place in his heart. There was probably something to be said about the stereotype of witches and their cats, but he wasn’t about to let something like that stop him from feeding the Southside strays. 

Predictable as clockwork after his shift he was out in the alley behind his apartment refilling the old pie tins he kept set out. There were a few of his regulars already milling about, mewing and rubbing around his legs. He gave a couple of them head scratches as he moved on to a few more tins. A noise at the end of the alley caught his attention and he saw someone standing there.

“Wanna join? I think there’s still a table for two,” He said giving them a slightly crooked grin.

Connie was the sort of bartender that didn’t speak unless spoken too. He was a listener. The sort that listened to women cry about the fourth man that’d broken her heart that month. He didn’t offer advice – he’d learned early on that that was a terrible idea. People, especially humans, didn’t want to fix their problems. They just wanted to complain about them and act like their misery was no fault of their own. 

The Spot was mostly empty tonight, which meant Connie had been blessed with ten whole minutes of silence before he was waved over.
