I’m starting a mockup of the Undersiders’ loft as a lego build! I’m using the official wildbow given layout and the attached fanart as a color guide.

Today, aka day 1, I got the size figured out to minifigure scale to funnily enough be almost exactly 32x96 studs! I blocked out the common area, made the blue couch, a small coffee table, the large table thing, some shelves, and the archway for the exit which for now I’m electing to keep a dark void.

I plan to split the build up into 3 modules, the first being the common area, the second being the middle 4 bedrooms, and the third being the last bedroom, the bathroom, and kitchen area.

And terrible thumbnails of lazy quality but my thoughts on how I would set up the Undersiders with Their Cape Self paintings if I wasn't constantly busy

1. Aisha, position Imp with her arms around Aisha shielding/hiding her with a background of shadowy figures looking over her. Literal visualization of her power but you can pull some tension in Imps creepy smile and Aisha not smiling.

2. Alec. You gotta hide Alecs face entirely and only leave Regents blank face expression mask. Alec buried all his feelings away and his behind his cape self but even his cape self can't feel much of anything. Little Alec clings to the big Alec since in this piece he would be meant to represent vulnerability and childlike tendencies which is also why you can barely see little Alec. Almost entirely gone. The background has curtains to reference Alecs love of fancy things but also as a Pay No Attention To The Man Behind The Curtain, the man behind the curtain being both Little Alec and also Alec when controlling the targets of his power

3. And I don't know Lisa like that at all so I kind of phoned it in but I think having Tattletale full eyes out and grinning like her life is so awesome but also clutching Little Lisa and covering her eyes both as a mercy and a way of preventing escape. Maybe there's something there but someone else will have to tell me

4. Likewise Rachel I'm not sure about at all. I drew Bitch picking her up and carrying her because that's vulnerability Rachel doesn't give anyone but herself plus also fun to draw. The dogs move with Bitch in one direction while Rachel looks away. Is this about how for all her acting Rachel secretly wishes she could be among humans instead of dogs? Is it about how Rachel is only able to move forward because of her dogs? Is this me making shit up on the spot because I don't know Rachel very well? Up to you

5. Taylor is so easy because she does her tragic symbolism to herself. Resting her forehead against her cape self, mirroring each other. You keep the body language comforting but you put Taylor and Skitter in a spider web and have Skitter holding onto webbing laced around Taylors neck. Skitter both comforting and her and preparing her for her inevitable tragic doom forever.

6. Brian's is simple but I think it works for him. Grue standing over him like a parent hands on his shoulders to convey expectations. Skeleton mask foreshadowing death. It's easy. The only difficult thing is Brian should be wearing a colored shirt to distinguish him from the greys of the rest of the piece though as we all know Brian only wears beige. Maybe you can do some clever lighting with the helmet reflecting the shirt and the shadows covering it so the fun color side stays with Grue, the more carefree half of Brian's personas. Idk

i wish the undersiders really were just a group of lovable chaotic teens who are found family and do Crime but love each other deep down. if they were maybe i could like polysiders.

I feel bad sometimes openly hating on Polysiders since like. Whatever. At the end of the day whatever.

The problem is just that it's the same to me as shipping Taylor with a superhero called PuppySuicideBaiter The Fourth. The cape with the power to make puppies kill themselves violently in front of you. Like yea. I'm sure there are arguments to make about the beautiful chemistry Taylor and PuppySuicideBaiter but I'm a little held up on the fact that this relationship is completely incongruous with Taylor's other important relationships who would find themselves in Nightmare World 300 Worst Anyone's Ever Done It in this scenario

Like if Polysiders was real Aisha Laborn is leaving the city under the cover of night never to be heard from by Brian again in the Best case scenario

Counterpoint: Aisha can make jokes about dating someone who is dating her brother and watch everyone around her exaggeratedly gag.

In a really low stakes world where nothing bad happens ever this could maybe be true and beautiful. It's a lovely idea. The problem is that Polysiders is trying to be retrofitted into Worm World where Aisha actually would literally self destruct in record time

Aisha I think, really wants to be supportive and nice to Brian's hypothetical romantic partners but is never able to fully get there. Her mom really effectively ingrained the idea that "you guardian will always choose their romantic partners over you. They will let their partners hurt them, they will let their partners hurt you, you will be forgotten or cast aside if the partner does not like you". And she does know that Brian probably wouldn't let his partners hurt her in the way her mom's boyfriends did, but I don't think she is ever able to fully feel safe around them or ever fully let go of her jealousy about how at least on some level she thinks her big brother is keeping a ranked list of all the people he loves and she's not number one.

So. If Brian is dating five different people. An incredibly close knit found family she will never be able to feel truly apart of, only watch from the outside while feeling more and more isolated. Shes blowing up the city. She has the joker face paint on and she's blowing Brockton Bay off the map

Okay this is actually hyper interesting tho, I fuck with this. Never actually thought about how this would devastate Aisha but it's totally in character for her to be distraught when she knows she'd never be actually a part of that found family dynamic.

Anyway my anti Polysiders propaganda isn't even to make people stop enjoying or writing it. If it's making you happy I genuinely think you should continue and I'm happy For You

My propaganda is that if you're going to write Polysiders you should find a way for Aisha to have silly fun in the background. If we're ignoring canon to begin with let's all add a subplot where Aisha gets so sick of being the third wheel she joins the wards and speed runs her terrible situationship with Missy Byron and takes out her anger by hitting Brian with comically large hammers during Wards vs Undersiders fights. Have her and Cherie meet and like actually form a committed alliance to be annoying little miss evil pants together. Have her get picked up by Bakuda as a henchman and have her have fun blowing things up with no moral considerations

There are so many things we could have my specialist girl ever doing instead of being awkwardly written off as "oh yea Brian mentions his sister sometimes she's fine" at least have your one off lines writing Aisha out be weird and strange "oh yea Brian mentions his sister sometimes last I heard she's running a cryptocurrency scam against armsmaster and winning" she's so silly. Appreciate her. Please

Actually fair and based, a big problem with the Polysiders fic I wrote (Stronger Together, which I don't think I've seen mentioned by name but maybe vague posted about (then again, maybe not, maybe I'm being too 'look at me' about this)) is that the characters just... they aren't themselves?

Like, fair enough, started writing it in highschool, can't exactly blame me for it, but yeah, they aren't them.

And Aisha really isn't Aisha. She's just sorta tacked on I think, Brian off handedly mentions her, she's there sometimes but she's hyper ignored in the early to mid part of the fic.

In the revamped version of the fic (the one where I'm trying to show respect for Worm and it's characters) I'm kinda tempted to have her as the team's sister, partially because of cluster shenanigans and personality bleed.

Idk tho, you seem like a good Aisha writer to get advice from
