Idia out of context moments
Maybe I'll finally draft up a sketch of my overwatch OC. I do wanna push myself to make a unique design with her, since overwatch is the worst and has decided that only characters that can be gooner bait are worth being developed. It is a bit of a challenge, as my OC takes design elements from the assassin, who lets face it: is designed like almost every other overwatch girl, to be attractive in some way. I'm gonna write out my thoughts now so i can come back to them while drawing
I have the idea of making her almost vampiric. After people pointed out that Ashe has white hair and red eyes but isn't canonically albino (I still headcanon it), i started thinking about what an actual albino person may be like in this world. The biggest thing for me was wondering how eyesight may come into play. We know via Ana and mirrorwatch widowmaker that cybernetic eyes are possible, but with hazards story we see that cybernetic body parts aren't easy to get. He was in the military and injured during a military accident, but still had to go underground to get proper prosthetics. So the every day average person probably cant afford to replace their eyes. As for skin damage prevention, I don't think it would be all that hard in a futuristic world. Spf 5000 is probably a thing. But that's boring. So my three objectives going into this design are 1) Use design elements from the assassin in the blackwatch event while breaking away from the "sexy and attractive" aspect that all overwatch girls have. Not to say I don't want her to be visually appealing, but that the sex appeal shouldn't be the main point of the design, any sex appeal should mainly come from the tastes of the viewer. 2) Find a creative but realistic way to address the obstacle of poor eyesight. What kind of career would she have, and how would she be able to take to the battlefield? and 3) Have a visually engaging design where her skin is mostly covered. I'm not going the route of skin tight spandex, so the challenge will be in the layering and contrast to create depth.
I dont have much of a visual concept yet. Since she draws inspiration from the assassin, I'm thinking of making her skinny, not in the "curves in all the right places" way, but more stickly and gaunt. Many stealth characters are physically smaller and weaker, highlighting their skills and planning as their main features. I want to change that idea just slightly. I'm thinking tall and thin, like a spooky shadow in the distance. Not only does the play into the rouge like idea, but i feel like it adds a little uniqueness. There's something much more spooky about someone tall sneaking up on and looming over you than a small gremlin. Sticking with that initial base, i think I want the silhouette to play into that spooky, horror like element. If you see her from a distance, it should make you look twice, be paranoid, second guess yourself.
Other than that I'm still working things out, enjoy the word soup
me when I plan all this and then realize that i gave me OC an irish name. So she'll probably be irish. And spooky. Spooky irish woman. where have i hear that before....
UGH I'M NOT MAKING A MOIRA CLONE I PROMISE

Has anyone else felt like stadium brought back the toxic players?
Maybe it's because there is only a ranked version, but trying to learn a new hero in stadium has been hell. I'll literally hop on, ask for tips on a heroes build, and people will get pissed right away. Like i had someone tell me to never touch stadium again because I had a bad game as reaper, even though i started my match saying "First time as reaper in stadium, any tips?". It was radio silence until they needed a scapegoat, and of course they chose the underperformer and not the fact that it took 4 people to kill 1 kiriko. idk, it just take the joy out of a new gamemode when you are stuck being a character you know you're doing bad with. Prolly doesnt help that the matching system is all sorts of screwed up. I got paired with a moira who was about to hit masters, meanwhile I'm a rookie dps
This is actually the best intro to a porno that has ever existed
There is no way this is a porno
This is the best porno there has ever been.
The way he says âHEY WHAT THE FUCKâ shaped me as a person
Itâs been over a decade, and I still think âIâm a lemon stealing whoreâ to myself every time I take fruit off a lemon tree.
Which isnât often, but itâs often enough.
If ANY of yall EVER do this shit to me, im deleting every single fic out of spite.
If I ever catch one of yall doing this to another author and I know youre a follower of my work I will block you personally on every platform
None of yall are the fic police. I DESPISE genai. I think its an insult to art, humanity, and the planet itself. But aint not a single fucking person here qualified to pick apart a strangers fic looking for a gotcha moment to make yourselves feel superior. If you think something is ai you can ask the author (most are proud of the ai use and will just tell you straight up) if they say yes you have your answer and can warn people. If they say no and you dont believe them you block and quietly keep it between you and maybe a close group of friends. Spreading misinformation is DANGEROUS. And NONE of you doing this shit are anywhere near qualified to do it.
THIS GOES DOUBLY FOR ARTISTS.
Posting this here from my main too bc I feel that strongly about it
You dont get to witch hunt and scour peoples work just frothing at the mouth hoping someone messes up so you can publicly humiliate and gang up on them. Fuck genai and every single poser and lover that uses it but if you are not 1000000000% certain that something is made with it you shut. the. fuck. up.
Pathetic loser behavior on display here
I'm about to get mean because this shit? this pisses me all the way off.
"hurr durr these very common writing practices are SUPER OBVIOUS AI TELLS!!!!!!!!!! obviously this is an AI invention and not the result of AI being trained on THOUSANDS OF REAL FUCKING STORIES!!!!!!! we're all very intelligent!!!!!!!"
I hate yall. I hate yall for fucking ruining fanfic with your goddamn motherfucking AI obsession. "ooh there's em dashes!" YEAH REAL WRITERS USE THOSE. "there's long paragraphs!" YEAH BECAUSE THATS HOW PEOPLE WRITE STORIES.
we're not "writing like AI" - AI is writing like us, because it fucking stole from us in the first fucking place.
I've never used AI in my work, not ever, but guess what, my fics are ALL written like that. long paragraphs, long sentences, em dashes and hyphens and other grammatical tools, because I fucking know HOW TO WRITE.
quite frankly, if you think these things are "genAI inventions" you're just telling the world that YOU DON'T READ ENOUGH.

I just made a new sideblog and found out this setting is disabled by default.
This means that ALL new blogs will NOT have a [username].tumblr.com page. Not only that, but they will not have any themes besides the mobile-default.
As someone who really likes custom themes and Tumblr still having a fully customizable profile page, please turn this on!
You can make a website for your tumblr blog that is entirely your own!
Finding posts on your URL.tumblr.com page is much easier due to the ability to use your Archive and url.tumblr.com/tagged/[tag] pages!
Visiting your mutual's tumblr pages will become much more fun if they do the same! I used to always associate blogs with the themes they had, but that's sadly not possible anymore :(
If Tumblr themes die out, it will truly be an end of an era for the internet, and the future will hold only mobile-orientated, endless-scroll design devoid of personality.
Even if you don't like themes, this is a move that almost destroys Tumblr's origin as a blogging website and showcases the takeover of social-media-sameness.
Having your own URL and custom theme is fun! Try it today!!!
Edit: I focused on promoting custom themes but I do encourage people to simply turn on this setting for the URL. You can pick a free tumblr theme or even leave on the tumblr mobile-orientated default!

Show, donât tell
"Show, donât tell" means letting readers experience a story through actions, senses, and dialogue instead of outright explaining things. Here are some practical tips to achieve that:
1. Use Sensory Details
Tell: "The room was cold."
Show: "Her breath puffed in faint clouds, and she shivered as frost clung to the edges of the window."
Tell: "He was scared."
Show: "His hands trembled, and his heart thudded so loudly he was sure they could hear it too."
2. Focus on Actions
Tell: "She was angry."
Show: "She slammed the mug onto the counter, coffee sloshing over the rim as her jaw clenched."
Tell: "He was exhausted."
Show: "He stumbled through the door, collapsing onto the couch without even bothering to remove his shoes."
3. Use Dialogue
What characters say and how they say it can reveal their emotions, intentions, or traits.
Tell: "She was worried about the storm."
Show: "Do you think it'll reach us?" she asked, her voice tight, her fingers twisting the hem of her shirt.
4. Show Internal Conflict Through Thoughts or Reactions
Tell: "He was jealous of his friend."
Show: "As his friend held up the trophy, he forced a smile, swallowing the bitter lump rising in his throat."
5. Describe the Environment to Reflect Mood
Use the setting to mirror or hint at emotions or themes.
Tell: "The town was eerie."
Show: "Empty streets stretched into the mist, and the only sound was the faint creak of a weathered sign swinging in the wind."
6. Let Readers Infer Through Context
Give enough clues for the reader to piece things together without spelling it out.
Tell: "The man was a thief."
Show: "He moved through the crowd, fingers brushing pockets, his hand darting away with a glint of gold."
7. Use Subtext in Interactions
Whatâs left unsaid can reveal as much as whatâs spoken.
Tell: "They were uncomfortable around each other."
Show: "He avoided her eyes, pretending to study the painting on the wall. She smoothed her dress for the third time, her fingers fumbling with the hem."
8. Compare to Relatable Experiences
Use metaphors, similes, or comparisons to make an emotion or situation vivid.
Tell: "The mountain was huge."
Show: "The mountain loomed above them, its peak disappearing into the clouds, as if it pierced the heavens."
Practice Example:
Tell: "The village had been destroyed by the fire."
Show: "Charred beams jutted from the rubble like broken ribs, the acrid smell of ash lingering in the air. A child's shoe lay half-buried in the soot, its leather curled from the heat."
Some more excellent writing tips for those that may come across my page that are also writers. :)
