ALL OF THIS AMELIE EMILIE LORE
Yesssssssssss
amelie hold fast. amelie it only gets worse
The way Amelia was forced into a toxic marriage and Emelie entered in one so easily…
What she says: I’m fine
What she means: The narration in Representation states that “the King, the Queen and the Lord of War” desperately wanted the Good Princess to bear a child, but makes a point to exclude her own wants from the equation. The implication is that Amelie never wanted a child, most likely because she herself was already suffering abuse from Colt and didn’t want to inflict it on another person. Yet Emilie and Gabriel went behind her back anyways, convinced that they could “fix” her shitty marriage for her by giving Colt a doll to play with — not stopping for a second to consider the consequences of their actions. What makes this even more uncomfortable is the use of the pillows to represent baby bumps, implying that the Senticousins were created not as babies, but as fœtus directly into their mothers’ wombs. Meaning Amelie was effectively used by both her parents and her husband as a brood mare (which is fucked up and a pretty ballsy thing to show in a kids’ show), but also that she would likely have had no way of suspecting her child was any different from the others until he figured it out for himself and told her — this would explain why she had trouble believing Gabriel, the only other adult in their remaining family, was evil from the get-go. Most importantly, Amelie was the only person in this whole sect of insane people who never wanted a child, and she was ripped of her bodily autonomy the same way Sentibeings are, and yet. She doesn’t resent Felix at all. In fact, she is consistently seen standing up for him, protecting him, and following his lead even when he comes up with completely batshit crazy plans, because she loves him. She loves him! She loves her son and turned out to be the only decent parent in this entire cult, and I love her, does she know I love her? Someone tell her I love her please —
#exaaaaactly. i think about this all the time.
#another thing: while i absolutely LOVE that this is included it's also worth saying that! this whole play is being told by felix!
#so felix knows about all this. he knows his mother did not want a child.
#and he knows that his mother loves him anyway. it's really wholesome when you think about it that way. they love each other.
@piromina how dare you hide this in the tags.
Also what is “Keep it in the Family”? Is that perhaps another name for “The Worst Anime Ever” or is this another project?
"Keep it in the Family" would actually be a HILARIOUS title for "The Worst Anime Ever" alternately titled "The Story of How I, a Boy, Got Mistakenly Enrolled at an All-Girls School for Time Travelers" but I don't actually have a document for that, and also forgot it existed (or does it?) so it didn't make the list.
I was in equal parts hoping and fearing you'd ask about this one- it's yet another Miraculous Ladybug fanfic, this one inspired by the episode "Werepapas" from season 6, and unfortunately, the most interesting element of it revolves around a major spoiler that Spacewizard and I are waiting with baited breath for you to deduce.
But it occurs to me that this could be it's own fun little writing exercise: I think I could describe the premise of the episode and the premise of my fic while tiptoeing around the major reveals.
But then again you know how I am with spoilers.
So with both of your permissions, @penrosesun and @audhdspacewizard, I would like to attempt.
Right so...
The inciting event for Werepapas is the receipt of a message from Adrien's grandfather on his mother's side- the incredibly stuffy lord Graham. He and his wife, the Lady Vanily, intend to visit Paris to "Discuss Adrien's future" over a dinner which is to be kept STRICTLY to the family. Not even Nathalie, despite her position as Adrien's psuedo stepmother is allowed to attend.
Marinette, however, correctly identifies that this places Adrien in a uniquely vulnerable position, not entirely because of but certainly compounded by the fact that Adrien has difficulty self-advocating, especially where family is concerned, and so with help from Nathalie and The Gorilla infiltrates the lunch as waitstaff to help look out for Adrien.
As the episode canonically progresses, Emilie's parents bicker with both each other and Gabriel's parents over Adrien's upbringing as well as possession of the Graham De Vanily dual ring which you may recognize from Felix's various escapades, while Plagg causes minor chaos in pursuit of the irresistible snacks brought by the elder Agrestes, and Marinette tries to as subtly as possible, prevent Adrien from accidentally signing away his freedom for the rest of his life.
And so the title serves a double meaning here: the lunch is for family only, and the ring(s) are to be kept within the family as well, as a matter of proper heirloom care.
All in all, an environment ripe for akumatization which does inevitably occur. Lady Vanily, fed up with being talked over by her own bickersome and controlling husband becomes a villain with the power to force her husband and Gabriel's father to quit their posturing and fight like the dogs they are- with Adrien as the well-contained trophy.
This puts Ladybug in the difficult position of having to fight three supers without the support of Chat Noir, as well as not knowing why he isn't showing up.
The point of deviation of my fic is this: it is a family lunch, isn't it? Why shouldn't Amelie and Felix be there too? All the grandparents would of course underestimate Felix because they don't know what secrets he's sitting on, and he's having quite a few outbursts of his *very strong opinions* about Adrien's rights and autonomy, as well as of the reclamation of the dual ring.
Adrien and the grandparents are slightly shocked that Felix is getting so worked up over this, Adrien in particular knows it's unlike him to betray his calculating exterior. Marinette understands perfectly, but still thinks it's the WRONG MOVE but her attempts to hold back Felix from going absolutely balls to the wall fail of course.
In my version, the akuma will head to him at first, and he will, in telepathic bullet time actually negotiate over the terms of him accepting it.
"I'll take your powers if you give up xyz"
"It should be obvious to you that I can't agree to that, but I'm willing to make this other concession instead. Isn't it worth it to protect your cousin?"
Etc. And such.
Felix rejects the akuma, and it moves on to the person it took in canon, only this time, Felix, who (as you know) possesses the Peacock miraculous, is able to transform and fight side by side with Ladybug.
I'll use the opportunity to have Felix discover some new ways to manipulate the power of the peacock (or revealing that he has already made these discoveries offscreen) and after everything wraps up I'll conclude with a tense conversion between Ladybug and Felix to the effect of:
"You're far too cavalier with your secret identity"
"I stole this miraculous myself, you didn't bequeath it to me, you were never it's guardian, and you have no right to try to set the terms of how I use it. And if you don't like that, you can just go ahead and try to take it from me: see what happens."
I think I can cut the most spoilery parts out of this snippet, but beware, if you read below you may have a "oh btw are you caught up in doctor who?" moment.
The bickering was interrupted by a slam– glass shattered– Felix had jumped up from his seat, letting the chair fall to the ground behind him to physically throw his crystal champagne flute across the table, allowing it to shatter against the wall just after flying past Lord Graham's head.
“SHUT UP.” He demanded, his hands coming down on the table, white-knuckling the table cloth and glaring at the Lord with fury in his eyes. Any sense of decorum or of high-societal maneuvering had been fully abandoned. “DON’T GIVE IT TO HIM. THAT RING IS YOURS, ADRIEN. THERE’S NOBODY ELSE IN THIS WORLD WHO HAS THE RIGHT TO SO MUCH AS EVEN TOUCH IT! DONT EVER LET IT OUT OF YOUR GRASP!” It was as if he had gone completely feral.
“Felix!” Lord Graham intoned angrily.
"Felix!" Marinette hissed nervously.
“I agree…” Amelie added quietly.
“See? Even your mother sees–”
“With Felix,” she clarified, leveling her gaze on her imposing father.
[more bickering]
“Okay. Fuck this.” Felix lifted a leg and stepped atop the dining room table, shattering the fine China plate under his black-and-white dress shoe. In the same moment, he began to reach for his cravat, and in the same moment still, so did an Akuma.
[Negotiations here]
"Will you gamble your cousin so readily, or will you use every weapon at your disposal?"
“Whether everyone here likes it or not, I am a member of this family, and I’ve inherited the oversized ambition that runs in it. I’ll do it all: save Adrien, knock these blowhards down a peg, and I’ll do it all with the power I earned myself through my own ruthless cunning. Take your deal elsewhere, I'll defeat that villain too!”
“So be it.”
The butterfly before Felix’s eyes shattered into nothingness in the same moment he pulled aside his cravat revealing the brooch underneath.
“Doosu!”
“Not here!” Amelie pleaded.
“Spread my feathers! NOW!”
He transformed as he somersaulted over the table itself towards the rings.
“FELIX!”
“What fresh hell?”
“What’s happening?”
“Are you insane!?”
“I accept!”
The last proclamation came from Lady Vanily, darkness overtaking her body. Nobody had noticed that, as the rest of the chaos unfolded in the dining room, that a mirage of a butterfly had appeared over her eyes the moment it had disappeared from Felix’s.
the delusions are overtaking me. pretty soon i’ll be writing fic from the pov of the gdv twin rings
you’ve already witnessed generations of cruelty and strife by the time you are placed on a chain around the neck of an infant. she is fussy and wild and nothing like the male heir that her parents would've scorched the earth for. still, she keeps you fastened around her neck like a promise—one that she only breaks sometimes, only when you hang too heavy and she begs her sister to take her place, just for a day, just so she can taste the freedom of running without anything knocking against her beating heart.
the girls are a pair, just like you. they joke about you—two rings, one future—and the wild one swears it's meant to be, because she cannot imagine shouldering her destiny alone. there is a reason the girls were born together, they decide. forged, like you, in the same flame. two rings, one future. two sisters, one life.
as they get older, they share your weight more evenly between them, the wild one increasingly shedding her lot in life like molted feathers. her sister steadfastly takes up the mantle—their future is a shared burden, after all—and you spend more and more of your days nestled against the quiet girl's collarbone. she traces your silver with anxious reverence—you are a promise, a promise to her. twin rings forever locked together. one life.
when the wild girl sloughs off her future for good, she takes you with her. you clang together against her pounding heart for the whole of her escape, and she doesn't slow down until she's gone. until she unstrings your twin halves from the chain and slides one onto her slender finger, one on his. she grins, tells her lover that you are a new promise. one that the wild girl has made to herself. the future is molten in her hands, it's whatever she wants it to be.
you travel with the hands of the wild girl and her lover as they stitch together a humble oasis, secluded from expectation. and when they grow bored of playing poverty, you graduate with them to stardom—with the lover's hand tracing grand outlines and cutting silken fabric and sewing neat seams. with the wild girl's manicured finger reflecting glistening gowns and camera flashes. still, no matter what he makes her, the wild girl's lover cannot make her happy. she buries her face in her hands and he holds her shaking frame. every part of you is wet with her tears. there is only one thing she wants, and it is something she cannot have.
but the future is molten, and desire burns hot. the hands that bear you now are used to fashioning life into something they want. so you join their grand search for satisfaction, tasting the salty air and thick dust of foreign lands. when doctors fail them, they seek mystics. and when mystics fail them, they seek the divine. you brush against the skin of a hunter, young and rough, who invests new blood into the search. the hands come up empty, always.
until, one day, they don't.
on the night you are changed forever, the air is charged with hope. your twin halves twinkle under candlelight. love and magic swirl together amidst sparkling laughter and bubbly champagne. lips press against you, folded into woven fingers, whispering words as fervent as a prayer.
and then—
and then everything is different. and then you are thrumming with life. and then there is a soul within you, wispy and delicate, just a flutter of consciousness. from your two halves are strung a lifeline, cords taut around the heart of a boy fashioned from magic and love.
the wild girl tugs your boy's lifeline like a puppet string, gentle enough to convince herself it's only a caress. it begins before he even tastes the air. kick for me, she whispers, twisting you with a careful thumb. I want to feel you. her prayer flows through you, strings tugging on your boy's fetal limbs until the wild girl grins at the life in her belly.
your boy, the coveted heir, is born far away from his grandparents' castle. far away from the humble oasis of his parents' youth. you brush against his lily-soft skin as he is brought into a world of harsh marble and bright lights. his squirming is calmed, his cries easily quieted. like everything else they touch, your boy is malleable in his parents' hands.
the lover—a father now, in technicality, but a lover before all else—carries you like a safeguard. he has fashioned finery with these fingers before, and now he'll wield you to fashion a son. he refines your boy like an offering, trimming the excess that hangs over the mold.
your boy grows taller and quieter, golden and careful. the molten star upon which the family hopes hang. not a prince, but an heir all the same, his inheritance is a heavy one. but all their tugging trains his muscles, and his smile stays intact. until it doesn't.
imbued with divinity as you have been lately, and witness to cruelty as you have been for much longer, you are familiar with the human impulse to play god. but no matter the lengths taken or the sacrifices made, you've learned that there is no one who can account for everything. and in the vein running through the wild girl's ring finger, you feel her pulse start to dip.
her decline is steady and wretched, a methodical deterioration of strength. you descend with her into baths of antiseptic and sweat. you rest with her brittle hand on the arm of a wheelchair. you tremble with her fingers against the wet cheek of your boy. when doctors fail her, the lover and the hunter do not bother with mystics. they barrel straight for the divine.
these years, you are split like never before. half of you waits, immobile, trapped with the wild girl—the stuck girl, dying girl, the mother—and your guilt-ridden boy within walls. and half of you leaves. over and over. you travel with the lover and the hunter everywhere, anywhere. wherever you go, desperation thickens the air. you are slick with sweat and blood. the hands come up empty, always.
when the wild girl's hand goes cold, you are laid with her to rest. artificial lights warm you both through glass, a flimsy approximation of life. but the only thing alive in your shared coffin is your boy's weary soul, heavy within you.
the half of you that remains upstairs with the living is clenched tight in the lover's fist. his grief is tactile, sharp. all-consuming. a heavy blanket that crushes the house, crushes the spirit of your boy until it's withered away to nearly nothing. when the lover pulls your boy's lifeline now, it's like the tightening of a noose. you rest hollow as a gravemarker, spanning the stories between life and death in this house.
when new magic thrums at the hollow of the lover's throat, you feel it resound in his bloodstream, humming beneath his skin. it feels like grief crystalized into something hungry and mean. it feels like hope.
the cruelty you witness in the next months is not shocking or special, not in the grand scheme of things. it is cruel nonetheless. you switch hands—from the lover to the trickster, your boy's soul twin. you brush once more against the skin of the quiet sister, louder now, having borne your promised future alone. eventually you are parted from the cold finger of that dead, wild girl, and for a time you find your halves spanned between the hands of the cruel lover and his hunter, who's resided with him all the while. you have held souls and futures and wedding vows in your bands, and now you hold something unspoken, volatile, crumbling.
at the end of it all, both of your twin halves are held victorious in the lover's fist. your boy's soul cries out, oceans away, tied up by more than just puppet strings. a knight clothed in magic puts up a valiant fight, but it is no matter.
the world is molten, and the lover shapes it into something he wants it to be.
in the aftermath, you lay cocooned in the palm of the young knight. terror rings out from her at the sight of you. the world, just reformed, hasn't cooled yet. in her hands, now.
on the day you first meet the finger of the boy whose soul your bands keep, the new world is in perfect bloom. roses sweeten the air and sunlight glints on your shiny silver. when you settle onto your boy's finger, it is the first exhale of a lifetime. his heartstrings rest, now, in his own hands, for himself alone to pull. this is the promise you hold now. but it is not the promise that the knight gives to your boy. her soft skin brushes lightly against you as she pulls your boy close and gives him a gentler promise, one that is easier to say.
you have been witness to cruelty and strife for generations by the time you are placed on the finger of a young boy made of magic and love. and you will be witness to more.
y'all can say "Amelie touching Gabriel when she knows it makes him uncomfortable is shitty and the fact that You don't like Gabriel doesn't change that" without saying "I would kill Amelie with my bare hands if i had the chance."
OR INSULTING HER APPEARANCE. MAYBE EXAMINE WHY YOU THINK THAT MIGHT BE RELEVANT TO THIS DISCUSSION.
it's funny because i would think "Felix and Amelie Both cross physical boundaries in this episode to fuck with people," would be a really interesting discussion if anybody saying it seemed like they were capable of having a reasonable conversation about it.
Like here is the thing also. I know we don't wanna talk about this. But Gabriel gave Colt the tool to impregnate Amelie against her will.
Her being in his space is nothing compared to him putting a *baby* in her without her knowledge or consent. Gabriel straight up devalued her a person. My personal theory is she was avoiding getting pregnant, because it was the one act of self determination she could see for herself. *no more, not again, it stops with me.*
And Colt and Gabriel and possibly her father all took that choice away from her. And it's not like she can vocally lash out at her husband or father! But she can talk bad about Gabriel! Because classim. And you can argue about how being snobby isn't good and fine. Fine. In every other situation? Yeah ok.
But *Gabriel *????
She should get to hate him! A lot! A little! Go off queen.
What is Up with that Tower
As per the poll has shown, many have wanted to know what is going on with HUNTR/X's tower. I have briefly considered their penthouse being their dorm, however, that got thrown out the window when you think about why the hell an apartment complex – even luxurious ones, would put up their tenants' logo on the side of their building? For (1), that thing's expensive to maintain, (2) that just feels like a violation of privacy and (3) that's a bright neon sign advertising to sasaengs to come and sneak into the building to stalk the girls or cause disruptions.
Also this humongous closet that is full of outfits that are definitely performance outfits and not regular clothes.
Idols don't normally get to keep or take home their performance outfits because (1) Those are technically company property not theirs, and (2) Normally, a single comeback can have as many as 5-7 varieties of outfits unique to their comeback, their MV outfits may also be used for their live stages. Idol groups rarely ever use the same set of outfits for more than an era because each era is supposed to be unique in their concept and their performance outfits have to reflect that unless their company doesn't have the money for several outfits.
So let's go with the tower being the company building!
[Note: This whole thing is entirely my headcanon and is in no way, shape, or form, canonical at all to what we know about it so far. I would not be surprised if this is disproven and thrown in the trash when the sequel arrives]
This tower is based off of the Lotte World Tower – a mix-use skyscraper based in Olympic road, Sincheon neighborhood (also known as Jamsil 4 & 6 neighborhoods), Songpa District, Seoul, owned by Lotte Corpooration (yes, as in the confectionery brand that made Pepero, Milkis, and Koala March). The tower is approximately 555 meters tall with 123 floors, but apparently the Huntr/x tower is somehow taller?.
I decided to torture myself and measured the tower myself. How? Well, first I had to get a measurable shot of the tower because we don't actually get to see the tower's full size. This shot of the girls is the best I could get.
Then as the giraffe of the group, I picked Mira to be the measuring tool to make it slightly more bearable for me, so now I had to find Mira's height. Using this shot of them in the train where Mira is standing next to the door (with a little behind thus making her a little smaller in mind). The door is like 190-200cm tall from what I remember using my height and measured Mira's height against it, and added 7 milimeters to just give her a little boost but keep in mind that 170cm is the real number.
As anyone with the ability to count can tell, that is nowhere near as tall as Lotte World Tower. In fact that is only 65.71% of Lotte Tower's height. Of course, there is a very large possibility that I miscounted somewhere and the fact that animation is rarely one to one when it comes to proportion so let's just discard the 5 days I spent calculating all this and just say the Huntr/x tower is 575 meters tall and had 127 floors [Lotte's height per floor = 555/123 = 4.51m per floor; Huntr/x tower's number of floors = 555/4.51 = 127.49 = 127 floors]
Also here's the width of the building
[Note: This is very rough calculations and I am possibly entirely wrong, but I did not spend nearly a week calculating all this just to throw all that in the trash]
Now, while the Huntr/x tower being bigger than Lotte World Tower is impressive, I would say it is Very Excessive for an entertainment company. For scale, these are the heaquarters of the Big 4 (SM Entertainment, JYP Entertainment, YG Entertainment, and HYBE), literally nowhere near Lotte World Tower level of tall
As for why that is, it's because most entertainment companies commonly have:
Recording Studios
Practice Rooms
Gym
Dressing Rooms
Wardrobe Storage
Office spaces for management and production
Meeting rooms
Multi-purpose rooms
Cafeteria
Cafes (For fans to visit and eat in)
Parking
Of course, all companies are unique and might have more than what I listed but as you can see, while that is a lot, that is not nearly enough to justify having the 6th tallest building in the world.
But I have an idea [Note: This is the part that gets very headcanon-y so beware]:
In an older post of mine, I proposed that Celine could've started and owned Huntr/x's company after regaining her footing and reputation in the industry as both a songwriter/producer and an artist. If she did, what if the reason the company has this giant ass tower as their headquarter is because almost all their company's divisions is in that thing?
When it comes to the growth of an entertainment, they usually start out as either one thing:
[A] Label – the entity that produces the creative output (songs, MVs, etc.).
[B] Agency – the entity that recruits and manages the talents.
[C] Company – the parental entity that handles business and finances, providing funding and infrastructure.
[D] A 3-in-1 company that fulfills all three roles.
An entertainment (by entertainment, in this case, it's music) company often started as either one of A, B, or C, then when they start, but as they grow, they would often evolve into an 3-in-1 company.
If they started out or became a 3-in-1, when they grow even larger, they'll diverge into divisions. What are divisions in kpop companies? Divisions are createdd primarily made to divide and distribute the workload of the company that the parent company might not be able to handle on its own without potentially deluding the quality. (I have examples of what divisions can look like for the girls' company but I'm not gonna talk about it unless someone asks)
What if for the tower, not only is it the base of the company but the office of all of its divisions?
Land is incredibly expensive in Seoul especially in Gangnam, Seocho, and Songpa (where the tower is located) it's like around ₩18M–₩32M per m² now so presumably, the rationale is that they'll save more money if the company only buys one plot of land rather than multiple land for multiple buildings around Seoul. Will that actually save them money? If we're looking at this in a realistic financial sense, not really — the land by itself is a massive investment, add to that 6-7 years of construction construction and then the constant maintenance, mechanicals and utilities expenses, but again, there is literally no good logical reason for this tower to exist beyond to replace Lotte World Tower and be the girls' super awesome dorm.
And even if they allocated the spaces for the divisions, the penthouse and the mechanicals, 127 floors is still a lot so what else can be allocated to that space? They could put out some of the spaces as offices for rent. Land is expensive and a fixed asset which means a large investment for mid-tier or smaller companies looking to set base in Songpa that they might not be able to see through if they don't make enough revenue to recover the cost spent on the land + construction + infrastructure, so hypothetically, it would be much cheaper for these companies to rent an office space instead because they get the space for the benefit of being able to have their address in Jamsil but not at the fulll price of the total initial costs the land owner (in this case, the girls' company) spent while the company who does own the building would get a monthly payment, helping them pay off the likely debt they obtained having this tower built.
Other idols and singers in the company could also be living in the tower, mainly because it's a bit uhh iffy if only the girls live in the tower by which I mean, it would smell a bit too much like nepotism and favoritism on Celine's part if the girls get a 42m penthouse all to themselves while the company's other artists go home to regular (even if it's a bit upscale) apartment complexes which could realistically get Celine and the company accusations and backlash from fans of their other artists regardless of Huntr/x being the company's golden goose. But then again, this is the universe where kpop fans are much kinder so, no one could also care that much to complain about that.
So here's my general idea for what's in there [Warning: Very headcanon-y]:
Starting at the bottom, we have podium 1, besides anchoring the tower. one could probably function as the atrium [note: I forgot the actual word for it so this is just a placeholder term] where people can come in, maybe there's like cafes and merch stores for fans to visit (yes, that's a thing) and the other as a possible parking garage but only because I think adding an additional underground floor is going to add to construction cost which is probably already astronomical at this point, let's just save the underground floor for utilities and infrastructure like power generators, emergency generators, water tanks, server rooms, etc.
Podium 2 could possibly be an extended roof for podium 1 and that's likely the case but I think it being a multi-purpose hall where things like auditions, conferences, and press release by the company can be held here but that's just my opinion.
I already explained what the rest are so that's that. The only thing I could say is that man, their company cafeteria has got to be a fancy buffet style if the company is already this extra about their building.
That's it, it's up to you on how you would structure the tower in the specifics because I am not going through the torture of making a floor plan for each floor. Am I crazy enough to try to? Haha yeah, but haha no. Just no.
Also, I kind of like to think these floors below belong to Mira and Zoey because I think they deserve their own balconies too. Also the one below them might be Celine's. IDK, you decide.
Again, this is all just speculation on my part so you can agree or disagree or modify this if you want.
Enemies AU with Chat Noir and Argos except while Ladybug and Chat Noir are having a complicated Enemies-To-Tentative-Allies-To-Friends(?)-To-Genuine-Trust-To-Lovers Arc with Argos suffering just watching the whole charade of dancing around each other, the moment Ryuko comes into play, they speedrun that arc in record time and suddenly the tables have turned with Chat Noir third wheeling Feligami’s (Ryargos’?) flirt-fighting while he and Ladybug are still stuck in between the Friends(?) and Genuine Trust stage.
Ladybug would lecture Ryuko to stop making out with the enemy… If it weren’t surprisingly useful at keeping Argos at bay. (Should she start making out with Chat Noir? For tactical reasons, of course. She definitely doesn’t think about making out with Chat Noir for any other reasons, uh-uh.)
Also the tables have turned further because usually Chat Noir is giving Argos heart attacks with how reckless and self-sacrificial he is but now Chat Noir has to try and shake some sense into him because, “Félix, Félix, she can TAKE your brooch if she’s that close to you— she almost did!” And Argos, having recently made out with Ryuko, is still very dazed and in Loverboy Mode so he’s there like, “It’s… Fine. I can keep it safe.” Very unconvincingly and Chat Noir is like, “Do you think she’ll stop trying to take it??” And Argos smiles softly and says, “No.” and Chat Noir just. Stops trying to convince him not to kiss her and just tells him to be careful.

Alt text and bonus below:
For the record: I don't think Amélie actually hated Gabriel from the start, and I don't think she blames him solely for Émilie's fate.
Looking back to Émotion, she refuses to believe Gabriel could be so cruel as to let her handle her son's “““disappearance””” on her own. Even though we know their relationship has been tense for some time; even though Félix likely told her about the Peacock, and about the threats Gabriel made in S4; and even though Amélie typically takes her cue from Félix; she still cannot bring herself to condemn Gabriel entirely — not until her hail mary at the Grand Palais, which is met with nothing but coldness and cruelty. So up until that point in time at least, she must have liked him to some extent.
That, and she knew her sister. Compared to Émilie, (young) Gabriel would have seemed like the normal one.
We learnt in Werepapas that the GDVs used to live in Paris, and that the cousins' playdates never took place at their grandparents' estate; so in those early years, the Agreste mansion was likely a safe haven from Colt's abuse for Félix and Amélie. In that position, would you truly believe your once helpful brother-in-law was beyond hope? Wouldn't you have one last conversation with him to try and set him straight? And wouldn't you feel incredibly betrayed upon realising that, in some ways, he was even worse than your late husband?
I think Amélie, as portrayed in Lady Chaos, is grappling with a lot of conflicting feelings while also learning to be free for the first time (remember that Colt died barely a year back). If she puts all the guilt on Gabriel, it's not necessarily because she's always hated him, but rather because it's easier in the moment. She may say that a real lady never lies, but we know she has a habit of doing so — to protect Félix and Adrien, to avoid Colt's anger, to please her parents and likely even her twin. Who's to say she isn't lying to herself?
