I can only say he actually had a specific reason for wanting a child with the Queen that has to do with the very origin of faeries! Ash can do something almost no one else can do specifically because of that bloodline, and Sebastian wanted a kid that could do that thing, which I cannot explain, but you will find out.

AHAHAHAH for the “boyfriend moments” comment: i think it was just a way to mean the typical boyfriend/couple-like stuff! Likely that person wanted to ask if there were gonna be scenes that are kinda domestic and romance. Which we’d all love, but I think Kit and Ty have higher fantasy stakes than that in their world and their love too👀🌈

I think you are right about fantasy stakes. When I think of romance, at least in a Shadowhunter context, I think high stakes, high emotions, massive consequences and, usually, the absence of the luxury of time. Also, usually Magnus walks in on you at some point or another.

I do think of TWP as very romantic books. Part of focusing in so closely on the main four characters is to give those romances space and time. It allows for Kit and Ty to be on a desperate chase across Europe but occasionally have time for squabbling over whether licorice is disgusting (yes, yes it is) or you, know being terrified about the other person's safety (which I find romantic, though not domestic.)

If the question is just whether Kit and Ty ever do anything romantic, I do not know what terrible person would promise a romance between two characters and then never let them do anything romantic. Kit and Ty must reconnect after a bad split, but that in itself is a romantic process. Also, they are quite a bit older than they were in TDA so "I don't know, do I maybe want to kiss this person?" is more like "I desperately do want to kiss this person, but maybe they do not return the feeling."

But even then, desperate kissing is just part of a whole, and ideally only works if the two people can also just have a nice time together when things are slightly less desperate. Like trying to make pancakes together. Which might happen. I'm just saying.

before I start off this post, this is no hate to anybody or to the fandom itself, this is merely my opinion.

While I love this fandom as a whole, a concern I do have with the tsc fandom is that we are extremely impulsive and stubborn and tend to blow things out of proportion, as well as a failure to be realistic. A great example of this is when Cassie first announced Ty would not be getting as many POV’s tlkof as Dru and Kit- the backlash was insane. People were hating on Cassie, calling her ableist and when someone tried to defend her or provide another perspective, it was not handled well. Barely anyone even wondered if maybe Cassie had done this because the narrative required it, and maybe there’s a good reason. No, people started saying how Ty was now going to get no POV’s at all, despite Cassie never saying that. Nobody considered later books, and Cassie had to repeat herself many times so that it could get through our heads. For a fandom who is majority older teens and adults, this was heavily disappointing.

An instance of lack of being realistic is (yes this is pointed, no I’m not sorry) the people who constantly insist Livvy should be brought back and try to use Jace and Jesse as evidence despite the situations being completely different, and then refusing to listen to reason. I understand people who say they wish Livvy hadn’t died or could be brought back but understand that it’s not realistic, but it has gone too far if you ask me.

Another issue I am consistently seeing is lack of flexibility in our opinions. People are allowed to have different opinions than you- it does not make them a horrible person (unless the opinion is like ‘omg ty should be straight instead of gay if so then GET OUT-‘) but one of the things fandoms are for is debating stuff in safe places where people are familiar with the topic! Just because someone has an opinion you dislike, doesn’t mean you have to go crazy over it- just ignore it or CALMLY and RESPECTFULLY provide your own perspective. This is especially relevant with fan favourites (Will, Magnus, Alec, Ty). Your favourite chatacters are allowed to have flaws and be critiqued. It does not make them a bad character, and the person critiquing them a bad person.

I really hope all of you understand where I’m coming from- I really love tsc but sometimes the fandom can be insufferable, and it’s one of the reasons I’m going to avoid any content about tsc for around a week after the release, out of pure fear that people will not understand that no, this book will not be like your fantasies, and you need to accept that.

I’m going to sound like a middle school teacher for this, but remember, this is an online space that is meant to be SAFE for EVERYONE. Think before you post, and don’t get so swept up in your emotions you fail to listen to logic.

Robert Lightwood's death is the most tragic death Cassandra Clare has ever written because unlike the others (who we already liked), Robert was just starting to change for the better. He was turning into a doting grandfather. He was proud of Alec. He respected Magnus. He was helping Julian and Emma and not immediately condemning them for their parabatai curse. And the biggest tragedy is that we'll never see him get to be Simon's intimidating father-in-law 😭
