The bloke (Conrad Veidt) was an outspoken opponent of antisemitism, and when he refused to divorce his wife (who was Jewish), Joseph Goebbels had him blacklisted.

He also donated tons and tons of money to poor children who had been negatively effected by the Blitz in London after he moved to the US, following his becoming a naturalised-British citizen after leaving Germany in the 1930s.

Don’t forget that in 1919, he starred in “Different from the Others”, a German film protesting the anti-homosexuality laws in place. It’s widely regarded as the first pro-gay film. Conrad Veidt was a goddamn hero.

OMS Challenge 2020

Hey, it’s year seven!!!

Thank you to everyone who made the 2019 OMS Challenge a major success!! There were so many contributions!! If you’ve not checked out  the masterpost and want to see all the amazing work, click here.

In order to participate in this event, your fanwork needs to feature Old Married Spirk. That’s it! I wanted to make the challenge very flexible so that everyone who is interested is able to join.

!! Kindly note: Out of respect for all members of our community and the history of green skin being associated with anti-Semitic propaganda, I am requesting all participants to please refrain from submitting anything depicting green-skinned Vulcans.

Posting runs from November 1 ~ November 30, 2020 with no extensions. There are no assigned posting dates, so you get to choose when and how to share your work.

How can I participate?

Easy. Create some OMS fanwork:

Writing (Long fic, short fic, poetry, etc. No min word count)

Art (All mediums, including gifsets and picsets)

Playlists

Videos

Anything else!

In  November, I’ll ask you to fill out this quick finished work form once  you’ve posted. The masterpost is built from this form, so please be sure to fill it out. Once it’s finished, everyone’s contributions will be promoted and  then we’ll all have massive OMS feels. :D

FaVE! Magazine, July (1968)

This has got to be one of my favorite TOS photoshoot pictures ever, the three of them in color. I got this on auction cheap years ago because it was two of the three pages cut out (the third page apparently is solely dedicated to Chekov). 

I mean…them with horses. How could I resist??

Artwork from the 1983 zine ‘Broken Images’ by Beverly Sutherland. The artwork is by Ann M. Crouch, Merle Decker, Connie R. Faddis, and Signe Landon.

This is a K/S slash zine set in a mirror universe (not the mirror universe) where Spock is captain and Kirk is his subordinate. It’s a damn good read.

I’m OCRing and editing this zine into Word from a pdf that a marvellous person sent me. When I’ve finished I’ll upload the Word document and ebook versions onto my facebook page.

Some of these images are from the fanlore page, since the photocopy isn’t a great one and some of the images aren’t in the zine - I have no idea why.

I think it would be great if there were some kind of united effort to get zines scanned in, converted, and uploaded to share, since so many are hard to get. Fanfiction should be available freely to fans.

So! This ended up being a AOS Mirrorverse w/ a redesign of the TOS uniforms (i got so excited!!), the insignia and the beard from Disco (bc i like it so much better-) ,,, I think I really liked the result! ✨

While doing this I noticed that tho I put them a kind of reverse rank; idk in the slightest which one of them is really in control. I like the idea of Spock being in charge but for the vibes Jim gives me I'm not sure if he could take it- he looks way too ambitious not to go for the captaincy. Nonetheless, in my head- Spock is the son of Empress Amanda, who takes control after Giorgiou ""dies"" (yeah, I'm mixing up everything idec anymore), so ofc she will grant her offspring with the flagship of the Empire. Only the best for her successor,,, The problem is, Spock here gives me the impression that he really doesn't want the command of the ISS Enterprise- but he's gotta show his Terran strength, illogical as it is; also he loves his mom and can't say no.

So idk how the dynamic between these two would be arranged.....

I trust they find a twisted and very tricky middle ground, and thus they become so so dangerous and efficient
