Nicole Cliffe has a whole twitter thread about funny/horrifying anaesthesia stories that you should read all of, but this is definitely my favourite
Judging from the way the stripes go, that scarf was knitted sideways. Meaning the person cast on 17 feet’s worth of stitches and knitted those 17 feet back & forth for three inches. I’m in awe.
The next Doctor’s costume looks great.
You forgot the best part
What I say: “I’m touch-starved.”
What you think I mean: “I need a hug.”
What I truly mean: “I need someone to platonically lie across me with their full weight, crushing my body and providing deep pressure until my errant soul is reabsorbed into my flesh. Also, a hug would be nice.”
I’ve had to explain this to people who think it’s weird, but when I add, “You know… like cats…” they seem to understand.
I apologize for intruding on this post, but it occurs to me that the people you talked to may think you just… want enormous cats to lay on you.
That would also be acceptable.
This is actually a psychological thing called “touch hunger.”
The breaking of a taboo.
why is “olde vampires in high school” the big thing and not “olde vampires in college”
everyone in college is eccentric. everyone
you wanna wear full on Victorian suit? the girl in pajamas who clearly hasn’t slept in three days supports you
everyone is too preoccupied to care as long as you’re polite and follow class etiquette
multiple high school diplomas? eh. same stuff. multiple BAs? Enjoy learning chemistry AND art history! All in detail!
wandering around campus at 3am? that’s just the lifestyle tm
no matter how old or young you look it’s not really that weird, there’s sixteen year olds and sixty year olds doing BAs somewhere
big schools are very anonymous so nobody’s gonna bother to hassle you
consider: vampire PhD students and postdocs, because in addition to all of the above:
been at the same campus for 57 years? seems legit
Fun Fact:
Do you want to watch your YT video while on being different applications or tab? Try this. This will put a stop to those split window viewing days.
Right click twice on the video and select [Picture in picture]. It should bring a popup page of the video that you can move around and rescale. The video stays up when on another application.
It should look like this:
and also this:
Enjoy.
Omg this is the coolest thing.
It even works on mac what the heck
uhhhh WHAT
Amazing for art tutorials! So much easier to follow along.
This will really streamline my ability to do 400 things at once and none of them adequately
oh neato.

I wanted to draw a comic about a fish mom in an office then realized i don’t know anything about offices or fishes
Okay but I LOVE EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS
Barely holding back your scream of frustration, you threw your book across the room, pressing the heels of your palms into your eyes to force away the frustrated tears. You had been working at this book for weeks now in secret, trying desperately to get at least one spell to work for you.
Everyone in your family was a natural with light based magic, everyone but you. It was a bit of a rite of passage for members of your family to sneak away one of the spell books and try them out before they had reached the legal age for teaching. The youngest to do so had been your brother, who had stolen a spell book at age 8 and used a fire spell that had almost burnt the house down. Your family had been so proud.
And yet, here you were, almost of legal age to start learning, and barely able to get the slightest reaction to any of the spells. Any reactions you did get, was nothing short of pathetic.
Finally lifting your head, you harshly wiped away some of your tears, reluctantly going to pick up the books you had knocked down when you threw this one. It was easy for you to sneak into the family library, the one thing you were good at. No one had ever caught you entering the restricted room, something you had managed when you were only six years old. How foolish of you to have thought that would mean you’d actually be any good with any of this.
Shaking your head, you carefully started putting the books back, only to pause as you noticed something hidden behind some of the larger tomes. Ever so carefully, you shifted them aside and ran your fingers over the tiny symbol. It may have looked like nothing but an unusual design on the shelf, but you knew it for what it really was. A lock.
Frustration momentarily forgotten, you eagerly pulled out your little secret kit, carefully fiddling around until it clicked open quietly. You couldn’t help but grin to yourself triumphantly at the success, always having found such ease getting into places and things you shouldn’t have access to.
Pausing as you opened it, you felt your brow furrow, quietly picking up the small book within. It looked incredibly old, even compared to many of the magic tomes in here, the leather strange and the pages looking as though they would crumble at any moment. Very gingerly, you opened it up, almost dropping it in shock as you read some of the ancient text within. This was most definitely not a light based spell book.
For a moment, you almost simply put it right back in it’s place. After all, your family was purely light based, there was no way for a a light based user to get even the slightest reaction out of dark spells. It simply didn’t work that way. Something held you back though, and gingerly you fingered through the ancient pages.
One spell couldn’t hurt… right?
Finally deciding on a rather simple spell, you sighed, following through the steps halfheartedly. Your jaw damn near dropped when the magic eagerly leapt to your command, responding readily and easily, unlike how painfully difficult it was for you to get any reactions from light based spells.
With a sudden surge of excitement, you went through each of the spells you could safely do inside, joy and amazement growing as each and every spell reacted just as the first, no matter their difficulty. It was only as you reached the end of what you could feasibly do inside without detection, that your elation was dampened a little.
How the hell were you going to handle your family?
So in lore, vampires have this trait that I’ve almost never seen used, and that’s the fact that vampires are OBSESSED with counting things. Like, the Count on Sesame Street was almost certainly created specifically as a vampire because of this piece of lore.
Like, I read this vampire book years and years ago that explained that a surefire way to protect yourself from vampires getting into your house was to spread a ton of seeds on your doorstep–poppy and mustard seeds were particularly recommended for the purpose. Basically, if you suspected someone to be a vampire, all you had to do was drop a sackful of seeds on the ground in front of them.
If they didn’t immediately start counting them, they were not a vampire. However, if they WERE a vampire, they’d be seized with the urge to count all the seeds and they would not budge from that spot until they knew how many seeds there were in total. The point was to keep them there until the sun came up and killed them, because if they hadn’t counted all the seeds by sunrise they wouldn’t be able to leave. Presumably you could just go about the rest of your evening as normal, though no word on whether it’s possible to make them lose count and start over.
Having remembered this piece of lore, I want fewer stories about brooding tortured Edward Cullen-esque vampires. I want to start seeing more stories about math nerd vampires.
Vampire accountants who are an honest company’s best asset and a corrupt company’s bane because they are frighteningly accurate with the accounts and will not hesitate to blow the whistle on a CEO scamming money because fuck you for making the numbers wrong.
Vampire cashiers that don’t need to look at the register screen because they already mentally calculated your total. 10-items-or-less vampires who know goddamn well you have 20 items in that basket and NO, you cannot just slip in with the rest.
Vampire math tutors who are constantly in high demand and have to hold lotteries to see who gets to be tutored by them.
MATH NERD VAMPIRES
If anyone would like the term for this, it’s arithmomania.
“But sir, he’s a vampire!!!” “Vampire or not, he’s the best damn accountant we have here, and i’d let him drink my blood before i fire him!”
“still less of a leech than Matt in legal. Fuck matt”
Okay but also, vampires as drug dealers- a profession that requires extremely quick, extremely accurate counting. “You’re 5 dollars short.” “There’s 50,000 dollars in there at least, how the fuck did you count that fast-” “Pay up or I will drink you like a slurpee.”

Really nice recipes. Every hour.

ive been thinking and honest to god: i think i would actually join a girl gang if the offer came. like a legitimate, hierarchical, “let’s carry knives under our skirts and beat up men” gang. fuck college
bringing back the sukeban girl gangs from the 70’s that wore long skirts against teen sexualization and fucked things up for the patriarchy
and this was no “5 girls in a small town” who made the news—this was yakuza level shit. 20,000 girls getting into gang fights and shoplifting and getting pissed off that only men were allowed to be rough and violent and angry
and y’all wanna know the funniest part? immediately after this trend blew up, the Men decided to sexualize the hell out of these girls. this included movie adaptations and pornos where the skirts were made shorter and the tits were bigger cause apparently they had found their new fetish
but here’s how they actually looked, and it’s actually pretty badass:
so anyways. who up for a girl gang
I’d want to talk to Sam Smorkle too
That’s some nice calligraphy you got there…
Sleeping Tiger by Steve Gettle
for real, though, why do recipes consistently tell you to use less herbs and spices in than you should. fuck your “two cloves of garlic,” fuck your “half teaspoon of cinnamon,” and you can absolutely go to hell with your “dash of black pepper”
I’m pretty sure that the only time I’ve ever actually managed to overseason food was when working with balsamic vinegar, which is the most overpowering motherfucker of a sauce known to man
i appreciate the energy and anger in this post, which is righteous and just
A friend once tried to replicate my burrito bowl recipe from the same online link I used and was upset it didn’t come out as flavorful, so I had to tell him to imagine that every online recipe is written by a midwestern white lady who thinks ketchup is spicy and adjust the spices accordingly. He nailed those burrito bowls next time.
