Finally redid my intro slideshow! I felt the older one no longer represents me and is a bit outdated.

Takalik hatched on the Oraselk homeworld of the non-egg-laying sex (Untranslatable, he chooses the pronoun "he" when speaking English). He was part of what might be considered an upper-class family.

Oraselk culture places heavy emphasis on conformity and the social hierarchy. This also carries over to their galactic presence. They are largely isolationist and intolerant of the ideals and ideas of other species. Offspring are expected to partner with a mate by maturity, or they are essentially disowned by their parents and outcast by the community. This is especially prevalent in upper class families, where the parents have a vested interest in reaching a higher status and will sometimes even arrange partnerships.

From a young age, Takalik was considered odd. He was intensely focused on his projects he constructed in his room out of scraps. He even posed his projects online to feed his ambition. His dream was to study at the Saturn Station University in Sol. SSU Sol was one of the most prestigious engineering schools in the galactic neighborhood.

As he approached the appropriate age, his parents noticed he did not show the typical rudimentary courtship behaviors towards his peers, nor would he discuss it with anyone. His parents began to worry he would not end up pairing at all, especially if he was off to university. They forbid him from pursuing a university education until he paired with a mate.

Takalik was crushed when he heard this. However, one day one of his posts online—a model ion engine—had gained traction. Miraculously, an admissions officer at SSU sol saw his creation, and offered him a full ride scholarship.

His parents told him that if he left for SSU, never to return, and that he would not be welcome back into their home. Takalik sat with this for a long time. He decided to go.

He now works repairing ships at an outpost. He hopes he can one day create ships himself, but the job market isn't looking great. He's not 100% happy with his job, and the way his species behaves towards other species doesn't do him any favors. He's the only Oraselk on base,and doesn't feel like any less of an outcast here than on homeworld.

The Oraselk home system, Tamaake! Will probably re-upload this image at some point when I get the names of all the planets and the language system down, but I'm really excited to post this because I didn't think it would turn out this good lmao

Ill give you a few facts though! Tamaake is a type K star, about 0.54 times the mass of our sun, sol. Because of this, it has more frequent solar flares that can be damaging to equipment when unprepared. There is a solar probe placed in orbit around the sun that connects to a ground station on planet 1 (like I said, still unnamed lol), that can provide early warning and time to put up shielding.

Planet 2 is the Oraselk homeworld. Their moon is also fully terraformed. They have colonized nearly every part of their solar system they can and then some; their terraforming technology is the most advanced in the galactic neighborhood. Oraselk are typically hesitant to interact with other species, so have gotten comfortable in their own space. That's not to say they don't have galactic territory, but seek less than other species. Still, they defend the territory they do have more fiercely. Their systems are also almost always mostly, if not completely, populated by Oraselk, as compared to other species that typically allow and encourage cohabitation. They can't legally disallow it, but living there would be...intimidating.

An Oraselk homeworld day is 22 earth hours long. Their year is 342 earth days long. They have 11 months, and each week is 11 days. 3 weeks make up a month.

I will get into their writing system in the future, but they write vertically, read top to bottom instead of left to right like in English. Many English sources will turn the text on its side to be read left to right for formatting and design reasons, but the Oraselk council made a huge fuss about this when it was first implemented, seeing it highly disrespectful to their language. It was eventually ruled that the language was required to be written vertically on all official paperwork, but they had no jurisdiction over non-official documents.

We found another infected victim. This one seems worse off than the last. It appears to be in one of the last stages of The Infection.

In just the last year, we've had hundreds of cases of this "Infection". We have no idea where it came from, but it is aggressive. It spreads quickly, and violently.

The infection typically spreads through saliva, like rabies, and can be spread by bodily fluids entering an open wound. It makes the victim aggressive, and compulsively lick their claws to more easily spread the disease. As far as we know, there's no species that it can't infect.

Its difficult to identify what type of disease it is. It seems like a multicellular parasite, but is able to insert DNA and viral agents into its host's cells and mutate them.

In its later stages, it starts to deteriorate and mutate the host's body, cannibalizing it to create more eggs. It seems to become most aggressive during this stage. Paradoxically, during this stage it can become unnaturally strong. Usually, the brain limits the amount of strength exerted by muscles to prevent damaging them, but The Infection seems to be able to bypass this.

Eventually, the host's body will be so mutated and destroyed that it can no longer move. It seems to "bloom" for lack of a better word, like the subject in the photo, with the infection transitioning to a spore-like transmission method. It distorts horrifyingly and releases spores into the air that can be transmitted thorough the respiratory system. Full PPE and respirators must be worn at all times near a bloomed victim.

This Infection poses one of the greatest threats to Mezuria since the Great War. It is spreading rapidly. The only known method of control is to terminate infected victims at the first sign of erratic behavior.

We call upon every known deity to deliver us from this curse.

There is an illegal underground fighting ring in Areni, Mezuria called "The Fang". People flock from all over to watch deadly showdowns in the ring. And the best part is that admission is completely free, just show up and watch. Fights nearly every night, free drinks on Fridays. And at the head of it all, is Detreus.

Detreus is the owner of The Fang. He's overconfident, impulsive, and a narcissist. He takes sick pleasure in watching people battle, sometimes to the death. He's manipulative and easily able to lie and convince people to get what he wants. He always has the most expensive, luxury items, including his gold tooth that The Fang is named after. He and his close group of "associates" recruit people they think would be good fights in the ring, and manipulate them into joining. They also get recruits through lending money for betting and gambling, offering time in the ring as payment of their debts. Once they join, their contract will never end, or their debt will never be paid in full. They are usually worked to death.

Detreus was the runt of the clutch, and was always picked on for it. He's noticeably shorter than dragon's his age and subspecies as well. Beneath his enormous ego, he's deeply insecure and truly pathetic. He's only ever actually been in one fight, which he lost, that ended with his left canine on the floor. But you'll never hear that from him.

Everyone always wonders where Detrus gets the funding to run The Fang. Free drinks, free admission, sure people bet but Detreus doesn't take a cut.

Few people have seen it, and its mostly a rumor, but when the lights go off and the bar closes, Detreus heads out back and meets a mysterious figure. He hands over data, who won which fight, species, age, weight, etc. And she hands back a briefcase full of cash. She's the only person he's truly afraid of, because she can take everything from him. And she knows it. If he doesn't return enough data for the week, pay gets cut. Again, and well, something more than just pay might get cut.

Who is the mysterious figure and where does the data go? Nobody knows. Not even Detreus. But he's too busy living his sick fantasy to care.

MY SONA IS COMPLETE!!This is Somna, my persona! I was super picky abt him because I wanted to really like his design since he's, ya know, representing ME lol. I'm actually really happy with it! I really like the color palette, took me a whiiiile.

I knew i wanted to base it off a dinosaur, and HAD to pick Yutyrannus since its my favorite dinosaur. Expect more art of this guy soon!
