He doesn’t look back; he doesn’t need to because Sonic’s the Sonic Channel character for June! Naturally!
Tiara the Manx ArtPile
Tiara B. is supposed to be a spunky, self-assured, outgoing, smart and witty character and with the information that she “match” Sonic, I visualize her to be a sporty girl with a lot of energy. And energy it’s something that she share with Manx cats.
I really like to think that each character of the Sonic world has a distinctive color of the spectrum, so this time I chose a reddish brown as the signature color of Tiara, because Tikal, Marine and Sticks already have orange or orange with brown. And we don’t have an entirely reddish brown character in the games yet.
I tried to exaggerate round forms in design thinking in the round features of Manx cats.
In one of the original designs of Tiara, she have the power jewel in her hair like a hair pin/ornament instead of being a scepter and I think that is very convenient to her if she’ll be an athletic character, so I decided to blend that idea with the Rings of Order.
Tiara Boobowski is a character of the cancelled game Sonic X-treme/Mars 1996 The original designs of course belong to Chris Senn and the team of Sonic X-treme.

hi! iv been meaning to figure out how to color like the old sonic art, and you pulled it off so well in that classic amy drawing. do you have any tips on how you did that?
Hi! I’m not very good at making tutorials and that Amy picture was my first attempt at classic style, but I’ll try my best to share my process;
First, the sketch;
After that, I made the flats underneath. A more tidy way to do this (and will probably give you a better result) is to lineart the sketch and then use the fill tool to fill in the shapes, but my process is rather messy so I went with this way.
Afterwards, you’re left with this result.
What you do next is, you may either clip layers for shading on to your flats, or you can work on the 1 layer (your flats) by locking the layer transparency. Since this was experimental for me I decided to use clips.
For the majority of this I mostly used a mix between a soft airbrush and a hard airbrush
^ Above there is pretty basic soft shadows, then next we use the flat’s colour to make a soft edge on the outline like so;
For other areas I would make soft shading
And then on a new layer, use a hard brush to give some edges a sharp edge like so.
It’s the same principal repeated for the dark shades/highlights.
As for a final note, classic style art has some dithering. You’ll want to add it to your drawing like so;
^ You’ll end up with this kind of a result.
Sorry it’s not super in depth, but I hope it was helpful in some way!

Okay but for anyone who legit wants to know how to calculate it correctly:
The elbow joint on average rests a couple inches higher than the navel, so if you measure how long the distance is from the middle of the shoulder to that point then you have the length of the upper and fore arms!
So if anyone’s wondering about legs too, the simplest rule of thumb is that the length from the top of the leg to the knee is equal to the distance between the top of the leg and the bottom of the pectorals:
And I wanna stress that when i say “top of the leg” i’m not talking about the crotch (please don’t flag me tumblr it’s an anatomical term) i’m talking about the point where the femur connects to the pelvis, which is higher up on the hips:
It’s easier to see what I’m talking about in this photo of a man squatting:
So yeah if you use that measurement when using this technique you should get fairly realistically proportioned legs:
But remember! messing with proportions is an important and fun part of character design! Know the rules first so you can then break them however you please!
HOW THE HELL DID I FIND THIS POST OMG
