Toni Morrison on grief
I looked at my mother because I was a version of my mother. I looked away from my mother because I was a version of my mother. I was me, but I was also her—my mother, and I understood this all too well.
— Nora Lange, "Dog Star", pub. The Rupture (#120)
anyway in life you quite literally have to experience some level of discomfort to live... (not saying you have to suffer) like there will be discomforting moments in life that is the nature of existing and it is so weird how in these self care "protect your energy" circles online are like "if anything even makes u slightly discomforted, if you are even slightly disagreed with, cut it out from your life" like it is impossible to live that way lol

grief is so crazy like what if i forget what her laugh sounds like. does she know i loved her. i miss her so much. i catch myself doing things she used to do. i wish i could call her. i miss her so much. i do a crossword puzzle. i cry while washing the dishes. does she know i loved her? my heart feels like a hummingbird. i miss her so much. what if i forget what her laugh sounds like. what if i forget.
