The Challenge of Disconnection When Working From Home π©βπ»
One of the hardest things about working from home as a business owner isnβt the isolation or time managementβitβs the inability to fully disconnect from work at the end of the day. When your workspace is also your living space, itβs difficult to create a clear separation between professional and personal life. My "office" is in a shared room, whether it's the spare bedroom or the dining room, and while I sometimes work outside, that only makes my brain think Iβm on holiday. Without a dedicated space, itβs impossible to close a door and walk away from work, which makes it feel like Iβm always βon.β
Iβve been thinking a lot about how to solve this, and Iβve come up with two potential ideas. The first is converting a bit of our roof space into a small office. Iβve been scrolling Pinterest for inspiration on how to make a tiny space functional and comfortable for work. The idea of having a tucked-away, dedicated workspace is really appealingβit could be a quiet retreat where I could fully focus without work bleeding into the rest of the house.
The second idea is a backyard cabinβessentially a tiny house at the end of our yard that could be a shared office space for both me and my partner. This would give me a completely separate building I could physically leave at the end of the workday, creating a real boundary between work and home life. The mental shift of βgoing to workβ and then βcoming homeβ could make a huge difference.
But because I also love the idea of a roof conversion, Iβve been thinkingβwhat if I used that space as a reading room instead? A cozy nook filled with books, where I could completely switch off from work and unwind.
No matter what solution I end up choosing, the key takeaway is that working from home doesnβt have to mean work is everywhere. Having a separate spaceβwhether up in the roof or out in the backyardβwould help create a clear division between work and life, making it easier to truly step away and recharge.
If you work from home, how do you create boundaries between work and personal life? Letβs talk about it!

Today I went for a walk first thing in the morning. Great decision! I had one of these moments where you feel incredibly grateful to be alive and to be able to experience these beautiful moments. I'm finally no longer feeling sick and I hope I can start to do more.
I, too, took a morning walk on 24.2.25.
Actually, I took 2 - because walking one dog at a time is far more enjoyable than two dogs at once. ππ

We went hiking today and even though it was freezing cold it was beautiful. Nature is the best antistress medicine there is.
I'm slowly getting better, each day reclaiming another piece of my former self. All it takes is being as unproductive as possible hahah sounds weird, but my body has been begging me to slow down for such a long time, so finally giving in feels great.
Needed to read this today - memo to me. π«Ά
