There was a massive shift in how our culture understood morality when, after World War II, the general public realized “just following orders” was not an excuse for crimes against humanity. Now we need another moral shift in which we decide, as a culture, that “for the benefit of the stockholders” is not an excuse for anything.
We kind of need to relearn the “just following orders” part again
Hey so I'm gonna be very very honest here.
And this is going to make a lot of people very angry to hear.
But a lot of y'all on this website are truly deeply genuinely never going to be capable of any kind of real narrative analysis--and I don't mean 'being right all the time' I mean 'meaningfully engaging with the text in any way'--
Because you are, fundamentally, incapable of comprehending that writers usually do things on purpose.
The themes are there on...purpose.
The match cuts were meticulously designed and put there to communicate something.
The VA's delivery of a line was being directed. Inflection and tone change the meaning of dialogue. This is intentional. There are entire teams of people shaping those choices and deciding which take to use based on what works best for the story.
Information is being revealed in a specific order, on purpose, to craft an emotional arc and guide the audience's understanding.
A character's romantic preferences are only, and SHOULD only be, their primary motivation if the genre is romance. That is why there is a genre called that. Most stories are other genres.
Creators who dislike a character generally give them LESS attention, MORE boring storylines, and LESS screentime.
Sometimes curtains are just blue. But if the shot composition or written narration takes time to HIGHLIGHT, especially more than once, that the curtains are blue, then the blueness of the curtains is by definition narratively important.
"Cite your sources" is not a witch's curse that banishes People With Different Opinions to the shadowrealm of Being Wrong. Someone making points that challenge your perceptions, while including screenshots and explicit examples, cannot be dismissed with "cite your sources" because they are literally doing that. Don't @ me on this one I've seen shit in the wars, y'all.
Failing to understand these things WILL bar you from ever really engaging with or understanding any narrative more complicated than Paw Patrol for the rest of your life.
I am very sorry if that makes you angry.

Disney Announces Live Action Remake of “Moana”
FIJMU News 10-8-16
The latest film in Disney’s recent trend of remaking their animated classics as live action will be “Moana,” the original of which has yet to be released.
“We at Disney feel that Moana is our best animated film yet and we won’t wait to adapt it as a live action feature,” said Disney representative Mike Pence (Not to be confused with Republican Vice Presidential candidate Mike Pence). “With successes like “Maleficent,” “Alice in Wonderland,” “Cinderella,” “The Jungle Book,” and the upcoming “Mulan,” and “Beauty and the Beast” films, we feel the time is right to adapt Moana for a 2019 release.”
Disney is not without its critics however. According to film critic Tim Kaine (Not to be confused with Democratic Vice Presidential candidate Tim Kaine), “Disney is all about money now, they’ll remake anything they’ve got for a quick buck.” There’s no denying the trend, but with high box office results and good reviews, many feel the remake fad is delivering some of the studio’s best works. Moana has received very good reviews from preview screenings, and the live action version will surely be worth seeing.
Moana comes out on November 23rd, 2016, and again in live action on December 15th, 2019. Scarlett Johansson has been confirmed for the lead role.
This was a joke when I wrote it in 2016 just before the original animated one came out. I guess the real live action one comes out on Friday.
This.
I will forever reblog this every time it’s on my dash because it should be this loud and simple. 💖
I had a wondeful vision after seeing the teams

Gentle reminder that the human eye is naturally drawn by noise and movement, so the next time you walk into a crowd or a bit late into a lecture or something like that, they’re not staring at you or judging; it’s just an instinctive reaction that has nothing to do with you doing anything wrong.
This really helps my anxiety.
It’s literally a threat assessment/food gathering instinct. The steps your brain is doing, subconsciously.
-Check to see if movement is lion in grass.
-Also check to see if possible game animal and edible.
-No it’s just Dave getting into lecture hall a few minutes late.
-That’s boring.
-Lose interest.
I like to believe that for a brief second, everyone looks at me thinking I might be a snack
via @vibratoryblurriness, thank you. social anxiety is successfully replaced with a mild amount of mortal fear
