i wish there were bug catching games in the same way there are fishing games. bug catching games when you look them up always get you like "this is a pokemon game! this is a harvest moon game!" I want a bug game that's like fishing minigames. fishing games. like. find a bug. catch them. admire the bug. i would accept being able to make the bug fight or breed or whatever but i want TO BE FINDING AND CATCHING A BUGS. people understand what fishing games are can we understand what i want from a bug catching game
Hello! This is a post summarizing all the games I currently have available over at lyarrah.itch.io
All of these are homemade by me and many feature illustrations from my friends!
They're all built to be playable IRL (you might have to print some stuff out) or via screenshare on discord and such.
And... they're all FREE!
(you're allowed to pay me if you want to though)
Doomscrying
2~6 players or solitaire
60-90 minutes
minimum equipment: two d10 or one d100, two d4, a coin, a way to write notes
This is a goofy little dice roller about witches who would rather be pondering their orbs than doing their magical chores.
Look into your crystal ball to help recharge enough magic to actually get your chores done, or find a way to talk your roommates into doing them for you!
A game about pondering your orb instead of doing your chores.
Not AUniverse
GM and 2+ players
2-5 hours
minimum equipment: a dozen or so d6s, something to write with
Not AUniverse is a TTRPG built in the Havoc Engine, meaning you roll a lot of d6s to cause a lot of chaos
More importantly, it is how to hurl your friends' favorite characters into the weirdest crossover fanfiction scenarios you can think of!
This tabletop system lets players take advantage of what makes their favorite character that character, giving strength to decisions that keep them In Character. It's designed for a messy one shot, not an ongoing campaign.
A Havoc-fueled TTRPG set in a fanfiction universe not near you!
GOTH QUEST 200X
2-8 players
60-90 minutes
minimum equipment: one d6 per player, playing tokens, a way to write notes
Did you miss out on being a cool goth kid who owned all the right clothes back in the 00s? Do you just miss hanging at the mall?
GOTH QUEST 200X is a ridiculous board game about running around the mall, dodging security guards and prepping for the Big Concert. Fill your bag with cool clothes and other nonsense then get dressed up without filling your loser meter!
A board game about teen goths trying to buy the right clothes to be cool
There's more to come! I'll update this post as I release more games, but a quick preview of what I'm working on at the moment:
Fog of Yarrr - Pirate board game with minesweeper inspiration, be the first to locate the legendary treasure!
Grab Your Nuts - Fast paced card game inspired by Snap. Squirrel away enough food for the winter before your opponent gets all the cards!
Moon Shot - A short dice roller about risk vs reward in rocket building.
Science Kitchen - You're a high school science teacher stuck in a cooking competition. Can your skills help you in the kitchen?
Mega Munchies - Get out of Costco before the edibles kick in and you buy everything in sight (but still finish your grocery shopping!)
(all names and concepts are works in progress!)
Thanks for taking the time to check out my games! Feel free to tag me if you have any character sheets or other results if the games to share!!
Come to think of it, it really is insane that my entire country is burning alive and literally no one in the rest of the world cares. Thousands of Indians are dying every day from the heat, it's 45+ degrees in multiple areas, the government couldn't give two fucks, we're getting severe warnings and red alerts, and not a soul outside of South Asia is speaking about it because why would you ever care about brown people

[ID: the “[X] leaving people’s bodies” meme, edited to read “the “women shouldn’t be judged for body hair” leaving women’s spaces the second a trans girl has some stubble”. /End ID]
Study also finds high humidity means people in hundreds of cities are enduring their worst ever heat stress
It is beyond time to start organising, but that doesn't mean it's too late.
Capitalism is causing climate change. Climate change is going to render capitalism non-functional, and before we get to that point people are going to fight back. People are fighting back already.
Three years ago I made The World Is Not Ending, which remains just as true today. If you haven't seen it and you're despairing about the ongoing climate crisis, you should watch it now
Analyzing the politics of a work that's meant to be apolitical is actually a really interesting exercise because it asks you to critically examine what the creator considers to be "political" in the first place. Which ideas are just How Things Are, and which ones are Political, and how is that influenced by the creator's beliefs?
Angrily lashing out at the suggestion that it's possible to do basic media analysis was foundational to the ragebait ecosystem of the 2010s, from which we got basically the entire culture of modern far right politics, btw.
I went outside and got an education, that's where I learned that you can obtain knowledge and insight through analytical methods, then noticed that some people who sit on the internet yelling at strangers get really mad about that constantly.
What's the deal with dogheaded men? I was reading some early arthurian texts and those guys were always fighting dogheaded men, with absolutely no explanation given. Was it a common mythical monster? Was it a metaphor?
