🦋 Left To Chance :: A Hoyoverse Gentlemen RNG Speedrun zine

Concept: Contributors will have about 2 weeks to complete a mini piece that satisfies the outcome of their RNG results

Content Restrictions and Requirements

Colors: you will be required to use a specific color that will be assigned by RNG

Theme: your AU/Trope will be assigned via RNG

Rating: SFW, PG-16

Characters: your characters will be decided through RNG

Zine Specs: Free-Download, Digital PDF Only

Artists: 1748 x 757 px, horizontal Writers: 3,000 words, max

What is a zine?

New to zines? Check out zinebaby.carrd.co/ for some general information. For this project, a zine is a digital PDF that consist of art and fics.

Who can participate?

Anyone who applies during the application period. No previous experience.

🦋 What types of mediums are allowed?

Any medium is allowed as long as you can crop, edit, color-correct to match the zine guidelines and prepare your piece accordingly.

🦋 Contributor Expectations:

Adhere to the guidelines

English speaking: mandatory.

Discord attendance: mandatory.

Let a mod know you need to drop: required.

Final deadline: non-negotiable.

Do not publish your work before the zine is released.

Due to the nature of this zine you will NOT be able to reroll anything. What you get is what you get.

Due to the nature of this zine, you will not be able to add additional characters that you did not RNG for — writers will still be able to name drop other characters for plot purposes.

Using the color palette:

We have provided a list of colors that the RNG will choose from when assigning you a color.

Artists: You only have to use one color. It does NOT have to be monochromatic. You can pair it with other colors of your choosing. (Think Huevember or even the color palette challenge)

Writers: How you interpret and incorporate the color into your piece is up to you. The color will be used as the accents on your fic page. Any kind of association to the color is valid.

i have a croissant related grievance

the entire appeal of the croissant is that it is a layered pastry item. it has a light flaky texture. the layers are in there specifically to create a fluffy, airy eating experience. that's the intention of the lamination process. having so many layers of butter and thin pastry dough make the croissant puff up when it's baked so that when you bite into it the pastry has a texture similar to puff pastry. the entire point is to fill the pastry with air. therefore any trendy hybrid variant of the croissant such the "cruffin" or the "cronut" or the worst offender of all the "croffle" which involve jamming the unbaked croissant or compressing it into a flat shape completely betray croissant as it was originally intended. they defeat the nature of the croissant by forcing it into something it was never meant to be, removing the unique core of its identity, killing its appeal and thus its entire reason for being. now am i saying you can't enjoy a cronut or croffle? of course i would not say this. you can enjoy any pastry you want to enjoy because it's your time on earth. i want you to enjoy your croffle. you should enjoy your croffle. also, you can commit any sin you like and i can't stop you nor do i want to. i won't hear your arguments because you don't need to convince me. but you must understand, as you eat it, that the croffle should not exist. it is a mistake. it is an insult not only to the croissant but to me as an individual. i am not french

This reads as someone with a strong moral code (people should be free to experience joy without arbitrary regulation, you don’t have to like what other people like but your discomfort is your own problem) trying to maintain their faith in a time of hardship (they keep doing weird shit to croissants)

Guyu 谷雨, literally translating to "grain rain," is the sixth solar term in the Chinese nongli calendar. It represents the spring rain that nourishes newly-planted crops and will bring about a bountiful harvest in the fall. This speedrun zine will focus on plants, rainy weather, growth, and the spring season.
