Hello hello! I am a little new here. So please excuse any ignorance I may have.

I am trying to figure out what is missing here in his character design. No matter what I try, he seems so …flat? Given these were sketches.

I think it’s an issue with his facial and hair structure. I would appreciate any advice on how to help that.

My artstyle doesn’t normally include lips or noses so I wasn’t sure how to translate appearances well.

I also got really tired of the same exact hairstyle so I did change his hair later but I’m not confident enough to share those drawings.

One thing I noticed just now was his lack of body hair which probably contributes to the ‘cardboard cutout’ feeling. I’ll try get some curly body hair on him.

That might help, but you also do have a flat color art style, at least from these examples. Not a bad thing, but it's by choice.

And noses and lips add personality to faces, particularly if you want to show diversity of features amongst them, so. I think this is one of those moments where it might be worth adjusting your art style if you don't think it currently includes more of Blackness.

it’s true you can’t draw one continuous line that would do the trick. but if the kitty and bunny set out by going through the doors they’re marked beside and each walked the certain way their colored arrows show at the same time their “collective path” as a team would go through each door only once. The moral of the story is actually about friendship , and cooperation, because in this world there are tasks you can’t do on your own.
