“Hello y/n. I’m glad you’ve finally put my collar on.” ‘Wait, who said that?’ Where my immediate thoughts as I started to look around the room. Hearing a boyish chuckle, I begin to look around harder only to realize I am alone, with only Salem in the room… At the realization I snap my head back to Salem and ask, “Is that… you?” While pointing at him and stand frozen afraid of someone else being in the room that I can’t find. As the unknown voice continues to chuckle, yellow-fruit nightshade begins to grow as a crown around my head.
The voice finally calms itself and responds, “You aren’t as dumb as I’ve perceived you to be.” Salem begins to make his way towards me and sits directly in-front. “I am Salem, your loyal cat who has been by your side for the past few days. It is a pleasure to finally be able to speak to you.”
The vo- Salem appears to almost smile in my direction. At this newfound information I have many questions running through my head but before I can grasp the words Salem speaks again. “Could you please calm down, I will gladly answer all of your questions, but I can’t do so if you ask them all at once.” Letting out a sigh he makes his way to my bed and sits on it. I take a step to follow him but pause mid-stride, ‘He can hear my thoughts?’
The kitten in front of me lets out a sigh before speaking up, “I think it would be best if you sit down y/n.” Feeling weary but wanting answers, I sit on the bed cross legged while looking at Salem.
“I can communicate with you through my collar and your ring. Similarly, you can communicate with me by thinking. I believe Sako said we could start communicating with each other over long distances as our bond grows.” Salem lays down and lets out a large yawn as if the conversation is boring him. After processing the information for a minute, I finally respond, “Yeah, I guess that makes sense… but what about your collar changing color, and my ring getting this engraving?” I ask while showing him my aforementioned ring with the new engraving. After staring at my ring for a long time, he just… shrugs? “I don’t know, but it looks pretty at least.” He walks over to his scratch post that I set up for him a few days ago. “I haven’t exactly been alive that long; I’m only 7 months old ya know. If I had to guess who would know, it would be Sako or Kurogiri.” He says while scratching away on the post as if this was a normal conversation about the weather.
“Uuuh, thanks, I guess. I will note the age and let you know what I find out.” With that being said I begin to make my way towards my bedroom door and slip on my favorite loafers.
After looking around for about an hour I realized, no one was here. ‘Well, that’s not ominous.’ Was my only thought before I began to make my way towards the kitchen for a quick snack. At some point while looking for either of the males I lived with Salem joined me, “For exercise.” or so he says. I can tell by his hair slowly rising that he is also on edge at the eerie silence.
Trying to make light of the situation I grab some popcorn from a cupboard I claimed as my own and begin to munch on it. Next to me Salem jumps onto the counter and waits for some offerings which I happily oblige. After a few minutes of silence and munching popcorn, I finally spoke up; “Do you think they’ve started the mission yet?” Sensing my apprehension Salem rubs his head against me in comfort, I reach over and begin to pet him. “I’m sure everything is alright. We just have to wait and see what happens.” He says before stretching his back and hopping off the counter.
“Maybe we should grab our bag and prep the medical room. That should busy my hands and mind.” I speak out loud what the both of us are thinking and make my way to begin the process. Only one thought passed my mind as I made the tense walk to our room, ‘I hope everything goes according to the plan…’
Sorry for the short chapter but it was a good cut off before we got back to the canon storyline. Besides, we get to meet Toga again AND keep her so it's about to pick up.
As always thank you for reading and please let me know of any mistakes or theories!
