Hi I'm Laake, 26, this is my main blog where I talk about pretty much everything, mostly through reblogs though sometimes I post actual contributions. Panromantic&Nonbinary. Pronouns: They/Them & Voi/Void Writing blog: starshinewriter
Hey, we’re in line for some absurd temperatures here in the southwest this week. This is very important to know and keep in mind. Be safe, stay hydrated, stay out of the sun as much as you can.
in case you haven't heard, parts of venezuela were recently hit by a series of earthquakes, affecting communities across the country.
as venezuela is my home country, all of this hits especially close to home. thankfully, my family and loved ones are safe since they were in cities not as severely affected. however, many others have not been as fortunate and are now facing the aftermath of these events.
years of political and economic instability have left many communities with limited resources and infrastructure, making it even more difficult to respond to emergencies like this. there are reports of people who remain missing, and many families are still waiting for news about their loved ones. rescue efforts have been made even more difficult by shortages of equipment, ambulances, and other emergency resources needed to respond to a disaster of this scale.
if you're able to, please consider sharing information, supporting verified relief efforts, or simply helping spread awareness about what is happening.
here’s a link where you can donate if you can
Venezuela needs our help now.

the highest recorded wet bulb temperatures in the world occur in india, jsyk. in odisha, they’ve hit 34.6 degrees celsius. the human survivability limit is 35 degrees celsius but the body faces significant risks, potentially fatal risks, even at 30 degrees as it starts failing to cool itself, like i’m talking organ failure levels of risk. climate change isn’t coming to peak, it’s been in the global south where you can’t see it or feel it.
imagine temperatures that high and humidity as high as 75%—you make more heat than you can ever cool. your sweat cannot evaporate fast enough. you literally boil alive. heat deaths in india are underreported and they already hit the thousands. there is no plan, for a nation of almost 2 billion people. no plan. nothing.
Charlie Kirk getting sniped right after leading with a deeply antiblack argument is a fear I think people ought consider more 😭 you'd think that woulda been a lesson for everyone in "oh, there can be consequences for my racism?", and yet. Hilarious timing, though.
Reddit keeps recommending me various skin care communities, and they’re all just ultra close up photos of someone’s face with a request for advice like “please help me fix this minor blemish”. And as someone with my own skin insecurities I can tell you from experience that the answer is almost always “stop looking at your face under harsh lighting in a bathroom mirror at a distance of one inch”.
Just had to tell someone on r/FTMfitness (who was freaking out about the idea of having fat on their body) that instead of giving Chat GPT shirtless photos of themself and asking it to analyze how much muscle and/or fat they've gained since the previous month (what???), they should instead consider going for a walk and taking pictures of any interesting bugs they find...so the same advice continues to hold true. If you are deeply, intensely stressed out about the way you look, try looking at something else for a while.
"trans inclusive radical misogynist" jokes aren't funny and literally never have been. if a cis woman got treated this way people would be upset but when it's misogyny against a trans woman all of a sudden everybody is laughing.
These types of jokes rely on a belief that trans women should be grateful to experience misogyny. That misogyny is not something we already deal with every single day. And that misogyny is a mostly harmless if mean activity and not a massive systemic force that gets us raped and murdered. Calling women bitches is not funny and it doesn't become silly just because you're talking about a minority of women, that's ridiculous.
I'm seeing warnings about scammers trying to commission artists but the "reference sheet" for their character they want commissioned isn't an image but a .vbs file ("visual basic script"), and will run a script when you open it, probably to yoink your account(s), but I haven't seen this from anyone who's actually clicked it yet. Just be careful and never open a file like that, 'cause people suck.
You should be able to say “don’t touch me” to anyone ever in any context and not have it be considered in the realm of surprising or insulting imho if we ever needed to normalize something it’s this
i've had this garfield panel saved forever and i even marked in my calendar today as "the monday that wouldn't die" so uh. happy(?) monday the 22nd aka the monday that wouldn't die
Do not stop this medication suddenly if impacted. Talk to your doctor and make a plan before you change anything. Going off of this med cold turkey is more dangerous than waiting a little bit longer.
Not everything is impacted. It’s only 30 mg extended release in 1,000 capsule bottles. The lot number is 241180C, expiration date April, 2027, from Towa Pharmaceutical. If you’re having trouble reading any of this on your bottle, there’s more info listed below.
When in doubt, check with your pharmacist. They can confirm whether or not you’re impacted. They can also help with alternatives, such as a different manufacturer unimpacted by the recall.
There is a voluntary Class II recall of Duloxetine (brand name Cymbalta). It was initiated on June 4th, 2026 and is still active as of today, June 19th, 2026. Here are the details:
If impacted, please do not stop taking this medication suddenly.
Your pharmacist may have helpful insights. They have doctorates too! Pharmacists are the editors/sensitivity readers double checking what your prescribing doctor writes. They can confirm if your meds are impacted, as well as suggest alternatives + help bonk insurance if needed.
Talk to your prescribing doctor before doing anything. They may just want you to switch manufacturers instead of changing medications entirely. They may also decide that they’d wanted you to trial something different anyway, so this is just as good a time as any. You won’t know until you talk to them.
Changing the way you take your meds without a plan is more dangerous than waiting until you have one. Even if it feels like it’d be safer to quit cold turkey, please remember that this is not true. Definitely been there, made the wrong choice, and 10/10 do not recommend.
Last but not least, the reason for the recall is due to an impurity, N-nitroso-duloxetine, measuring above the FDA recommended interim limit. While it has been linked to cancer in animal testing, this does not guarantee it’s carcinogenic in humans. This is an interim limit because we are unsure. Until we can prove it’s not a problem, we’re treating it like it is. From my understanding, this means the limit is set magnitudes lower than what could be dangerous to humans.
Please only reblog if notes related to this won’t cause you too much distress. The rest of us can handle this one, friends. Stay safe, drink some water, and I hope today’s treating you well. :)

I know that letters and calls are supposed to go out to impacted patients. In an ideal world, that’d work perfectly, with no cracks for people to slip through. Unfortunately, it’s hard to never make a mistake when you’re supported, and most of the people who notify these patients are drowning. We also have to consider accessibility concerns:
People send regular letters to blind patients every day. I’m not trusting my mom to catch something like this on page 3 with her magnifying glass.
People call deaf patients without using a relay service or any other accommodation. Talking louder doesn’t fix the problem, and it still pisses me off that that’s the only “solution” my old job offered.
People only notify dementia patients instead of contacting their support systems. This one’s part HIPAA, part “Did anybody tell the pharmacy that Dad’s grandma’s legal guardian so they call him instead?”
People also break the news in shitty ways without even considering things like severe anxiety and depression. That’s actually how I heard about the recall—ABC’s jump scare headline had me double checking if any of my family were impacted.
A thoughtful post in plain text isn’t just more accessible, it’s kinder. Even if it’s redundant, who cares? That just means folks who have brain fog, or didn’t have spoons to act earlier, have a reminder.
TL;DR: This is just me doing my part to help the info finds those who need it. Thanks for helping with that, and I hope tomorrow’s good to you too. 🙂
