Hey, I’m Krystal and you’re reading my first fic.. I’m sorry for my grammar, English is my first language but I’m just bad at editing. There will be more parts btw
Also, I don’t own Jurassic Park or any of it’s characters. I only own Alycia Chell and her plot. :)
I tapped my foot impatiently on the floor. Claire was always on time, never late. It was kind of scary how that woman functioned. Pulling out her phone, she checked the time. Fucking great, I’ve been waiting 23 bloody minutes. “Miss Chell? Zara said you asked to see me...”It was Claire, and like usual she was dressed in her white blouse and skirt, an ounce of colour nowhere to be seen.“Yeah, I did. I was just wondering if-.”
“Gray! Is that you?” Claire had said, suddenly interrupting. Did she even care? Before I had time to ask questions, she had been down the steps of the Innovation Centre. By the time I got there, a small kid (Maybe 10 or 12?) had run to her, his arms around her waist. “Oh-oh my gosh, you're so sweet,” she exclaimed. She looked very uncomfortable. A cute looking teen had walked over, Zara trailing behind, eyes glued to her phone. Of course Zara’s looking after them.
Claire was talking with the boys when my phone dinged. It was a text from Owen, asking if I was ready to go see the raptors. Just as I leaned forward to tap her on the shoulder, Claire turned, startling herself. “I’m-uh sorry. Claire, I have to go now... Y’know, it’s raptor training time” Her eyes widened, and then she nodded. “Alycia, these are my nephews, The tallest one is Zach, and the youngest is Gray”. She waved her hand in their direction, and they both awkwardly smiled back. “You know, they could come to see the raptors with you! Zara can take them, right Zara?” Oh great, more Zara time. Zara replied with a simple ‘Yes Miss Dearing’, before busying herself with her phone again. “Zara and Alycia will take great care of you”. Claire’s phone buzzed, and she said bye to the boys. Who leaves two kids with a stranger on an island full of dinosaurs? “C’mon guys, I’ll take you to the raptors”
I ended up leaving them at the kids area, because I was going to be late. Zara said they’d catch up. As I arrived, Owen threw the clicker at me “Lycia” he taunted, purposely leaving out the first letter of my name “Wanna have a go?”. He knew I loved training the raptors. I had always been in charge of Echo and had developed a soft spot for her “Sure, where’s their food?” He nodded to the corner, where a bucket full of dead mice sat. Gross. Walking forward with the clicker in my hand, I mentally prepared
“There she is!” A small voice yelled. I turned and saw Gray, Zach and Zara staring at me from the safe zone. To be honest, if I was stuck with Zara all day, I’d ditch her. "Lycia! Let’s go”. Just as Owen had said that, I heard the squealing pig running through the cage. Poor things going to be traumatised after this. The four raptors arrived below, looking up expectedly. “Okay, eyes on me” I instructed. Blue hissed and snarled, deliberately not looking up at me “Blue! Watch it” I warned, pointing at her. Of course, Charlie followed her example “Charlie, hey! Don’t give me that shit”.
Just as I finished the rest of the routine, Owen walked over to talk to some guy. I think his name is Hoskins. I walked over to the boys smiling, happy to see they were enjoying themselves. “What’d you think?” I asked. Gary beamed up at me “You were awesome! Do you always do that? What are there names? How long did it take for them to learn that?” Wow, this kid is excited. Zach looked up at me, grinning “Sorry about him. He really loves dinosaurs and apparently, you now too” I laughed, and Gray elbowed him in the stomach, blushing at the same time. “Oh, it’s fine. And to answer your question, their names are Blue, Charlie, Delta and Echo... I’ll tell you a secret, Echo is my favourite” He giggled.
I could see Owen getting pissed at this Hoskins guy out of the corner of my eye. I don’t blame him. Hoskins loves to tell me that I’m ‘very brave for a girl’. He backed off when I threatened to feed him to the T-Rex. I followed them down to the feeding area, excusing myself from the conversation. The more I listened, the more pissed off I got. Hoskins wanted to use the raptors in the field? Bad idea.
I jumped as I heard a piercing scream. I turn, horrified, to see some kid fall into the raptors cage. I ran forward, shoving Owen out the way as I opened the gates. Crawling through, I noticed the guards with their guns aimed at my raptors. “No no no! Hold your fucking fire,” I yelled “Do not fire. Do not fire.” Owen was yelling at me to come back in, and Zack was covering Gray’s eyes. I held my hand out towards Echo “Stand down girl, stand down” I said. Blue lunged and snapped, while the others circled around me “Hey Blue, I see you. Now back up.” The kid -Kyle I think- had managed to crawl back in as I calmed the four down, hearing the occasional hiss from Delta and Blue. Without turning my head, I ordered Owen to close the door. “Alycia, are you crazy?”. The kid snapped at him to close the gate, so he did. I stood in the same spot, feet planted firmly to the ground. At the last minute, I jumped back, rolling under the gate as it closed. The raptors stuck their head through the bars as I leaned back, panting.
“Jesus, are you fucking crazy?” Owen half asked, half yelled. I ignored him and turned to the kid “Never take your eyes of the cage, dumbass.” He nodded, not looking me in the eye... I think he’s scared of me now. As I stood up, Hoskins gazed over at me, looking smug. What a creep I thought. I jogged back up the steps to where Zach, Gray and Zara were, feeling pretty proud of myself. Gary started rambling, but I focused on Zach, who was staring at me. “Just an average day at Jurassic World” I winked.
“Come with us, please” Gray pleaded, taking my hand. Zara scoffed, still looking at her phone. “I-uh, wish I could... I have to go visit a new creature with Owen and Claire in about 10 minutes”. It’s not that I don't want to go with them, but I have to stay focused on my job. “I will see you later though, maybe at the Gyrospheres?” Gray smiled, but still looked disappointed, making me feel bad about my choice. Owen waved at me from below, so I said my goodbyes and followed him to the trailer park, where we would be picked up by Claire to see the new edition. I hope I see more of the boys, especially Zach.
