The Vampire Lestat (2026)

utena is literally just on youtube, legal and good quality
i’ve been having a hard time finding good info on this, but it sounds like nozomi entertainment (who owns the license for utena and has it up on youtube) is maybe going to be taking down the version in the link above - though its not down yet! but the word i hear is that theyre doing this so that they can reupload HD versions of the episodes. here’s the first one
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HQxT6yOKzNY
some updates!
first, the original link still works in the US and Canada only
second, if Nozomi ever uploaded more than 1 HD episode to youtube, they’ve been taken down again - the first HD episode is still up there, but (i suspect) it was a promo to advertise that the series was (going to be?) available on crunchyroll
third! the series is no longer available on crunchyroll!
and, finally, an enterprising spirit has put Adolescence of Utena, the 1999 movie that serves as a capstone to the series, on youtube. it appears to be unrestricted by region (though i did not comprehensively test this) and may be taken down in the future.
(as an aside: revolutionary girl utena is not, at times, an easy or comfortable show. it is a classic, a series that casts a long shadow, and deeply influential. i am disclaiming responsibility for providing content warnings for it here! if you’re interested in watching one of the most important anime series there is, do your research, or don’t, at your discretion!)
with all that said!

trying to make a dune post but I’m 60 years late what can I even say. Jessica Atreides boy mom facebook group admin (logical conclusion)? Alia Atreides biblically accurate Renesmee? Feyd-Rautha first person to die in a duel from the sheer speed at which the blood rushed to his dick, which he put in the box? Tongue kissing your uncle to rapturous applause? Paul Atreides somehow turns Zendaya against twinks? you guys already know all that theres no point

-- Ted Chiang, from "Why A.I. Isn't Going to Make Art"
I'm so glad they got Ted Chiang -- a wonderful writer of science fiction and thinker about technology, in my opinion -- to write this essay. My favorite line was this:
Generative A.I. appeals to people who think they can express themselves in a medium without actually working in that medium.
