The eye doctor is the most fun doctor you can go to. They never steal your blood. They never make you get naked and put on a paper dress. They're just like, "Can you see these letters? It's fine if you can't, we can fix that." And they don't even spell anything.
I WANT TO LOOK AT THINGS MADE BY HUMAN BEINGS
And also occasionally by pufferfish
immediately after an interaction: i have GOT to get more normal oh god i need to get more normal immediately i have to get more normal or they're going to hunt me down they're going to hunt me down and flay me for sport
during an interaction: and why not put a little spin on it? why not add some conversational zest?
I think Ilya enjoys reinventing himself a bit after his move to Ottawa. Shedding components of his old self in favor of the new. He is now guy who loves dogs. Guy who is on friendly terms with the gay social media manager. Guy who is secretive about how he spends his private time. Guy who goes on mental health walks. Guy who goes to Scott Hunterās gay bar. Guy who has made sacrifices for something important. Guy who has an air of quiet mystique. Guy who is so in love he thinks it must be written all over his face. Guy who is the most depressed heās ever been despite occasional ecstatic happiness. Guy who looks forward to the Summer.
@wannabetonthat How dare you make this point so succinctly and with so much nuance??? Love.
Can we stop with the character development. Where's my beach episode.

UBI needs to happen. via antiwork
I think most importantly, it would give us the leverage to say ānoā. To walk away from bad jobs and abusive managers. To refuse to work in unsafe environments. To demand better pay.
To demand better, because the options are no longer āsuck it upā or ādieā.
The counter-argument: Not having UBI is in the interests of those in power who want to do anything to the people they are in power over in order to remain in power.
If the greed of the few should come before the need of the many.
Reminder to newly out trans women/fems or anyone else on E, donāt let anyone gaslight you about your period symptoms. donāt let anyone with a childās level understanding of how periods work make you feel like youāre stupid or delusional for experiencing period symptoms, especially if you think there might be something wrong.
things like endometriosis can develop in an estrogen-dominated system, because its the hormones that cause the growth of endometrial lesions, not the āpartsā themselves. If youāre experiencing unusually painful symptoms* then you have a right to find a doctor who will take you seriously and not try to gaslight you into thinking that the pain is ānormalā.
*period pain is not supposed to affect your daily life. Itās supposed to feel more like an inconvenience rather than a medical emergency. If you are struggling to go about your life, if you canāt move due to the pain, if youāre bed-ridden for the majority of your period, then that is not normal and you need to find a doctor who is going to take your pain seriously. This obviously goes for anyone who experiences periods because unfortunately itās not common knowledge that experiencing agonising levels of pain is NOT NORMAL!!!
A few people in the notes have used this post to criticise transmascs for trying to add on, or apologising for āmaking it about menā when mentioning cis men, and as the OP of this post, the only important thing to me here is that multiple people have read this post and realised that the pain theyāve been experiencing hasnāt been normal and are now able to research what might be causing it and I couldnāt give a shred of a fuck what their gender is.
Yes, this post was talking to trans women/fems because there is a severe lack of resources on how trans women and fems on E experience their periods and very little knowledge on the fact that they can also develop endometriosis, but I am NOT gatekeeping this knowledge!! For example, understanding that a uterus is not necessary for the development of endo is useful for those who have had hysterectomies or who are planning on having hysterectomies and need to be aware that a hysterectomy does not ācureā either endo or period symptoms in general. It can manage it, yes, but depending on the type of hysterectomy and your hormone levels afterwards it doesnāt necessarily cure it!
Literally every single person in the whole world is capable of period symptoms and/or endometriosis, whether cis, trans or intersex, so just because I directed this at trans women does not mean that others cannot add on if they have also had experiences with this! Please never use my posts as a way to prevent other people (especially trans and intersex people) from discussing their own perspectives, because that is not the kind of blog Iām running here!

As things look scary, we must press on. Support your fellow queer community, especially trans folks. Massive shout out to AceInGrace for taking in community feedback to give us this new flag as an option! I quite like it and I'll be using it from now on alongside the current one.
thinking about āno, i get that, but actually, i love him.ā mind you this is like less than 24 hours after heās even said it aloud to ilya. less than 24 hours before he puts to words what heās felt since ilya kissed him goodbye on the stairwell. i get that, given the last decade of the two of us connecting over our shared distaste for the man standing next to me. i get that, given how reporters and magazines and podcasts all pick apart at our relationship like vultures, insisting thereās venom between us. i get that, since iāve gone quiet whenever youāve mentioned him in the last nine years. you mustāve taken my silence for hatred. and i get that, i do, but no. in those moments, i was wondering what it would be like for you to meet him, to shake his hand, look into his eyes and see the man iāve held so close to my heart for years. and now iām being honest, finally. i love him. i think maybe i always have.
