I wouldn't have anything against Jonsa shippers (because to each their own, if you vibe with it, you vibe with it) if they weren't so violently misogynistic towards Arya and Dany, stole from them, and completely disregarded Jon's and Sansa's real characteritazion to make their ship seem canon.

I loved them both as love interests it would’ve been so good to see how things went down with each even if they didn’t end up tgt in the end. We never really get to SEE that aspect of Dean’s character. We know he’s always wanted a family but doesn’t think it can happen for him. Ig they kinda explored how it played out with Lisa and Dean but COME ON they were so boring and none of that ever really went deeper than “he loves them but the life keeps coming for him”.
Just saying it would’ve been nice to see him actually develop a relationship with someone who knows and see that struggle in him without having to kill her off, it could genuinely be a great trial for his character.
I know there are a lot of different opinions on how Arthur would have reacted if he found out about Merlin's magic earlier and I know many people say that in most fics he's to understanding and soft and I agree to a certain degree if we think about it realistically.
However: While I do think that Arthur would get angry and fall into his old coping patterns I honestly believe if he would have approached Merlin and Merlin would have flinched because he is scared Arthur's anger would have transformed into shame so quick. Arthur would not be able to stand Merlin being afraid of him.
I think that the people that refuse the idea of Merlin and Arthur loving eachother are ignoring the obvious signs because they don't consider the time it was set in and how that society worked.
If you look at them superficially you see two people really close joking with eachother, pulling pranks and teasing, supporting eachother, caring, helping eachoth etc etc...
If it was set nowdays then maybe yeah you could look at that and say "maybe they are just friends" (if we ignore the obvious jealousy and love filled stares) but we need to remember THAT THEY ARE IN THE 11th CENTURY!
Arthur is a Prince (then a King), Merlin is just a MANSERVANT. A Prince would never and should never treat his servant as his equal, there were rigid social classes rules that needed to be respected and it was prohibited for a servant to have that kind of mannerisms towards his Prince or King, it was something deep rooted in everyone at the time, especially if we are talking about monarchs.
Merlin makes fun of Arthur, he insults him on a daily basis, even threatened to kill him and everybody laughed (hint that he jokes about it enough for it to be seen just a regular pun), steal his food and Arthur knows about it and what does the Prince do about this behaviours? Nothing! Maybe sometimes he scolds Merlin, but he's usually not really truly angry, and he responds with the same tones.
Arthur defends Merlin, jokes with him, when Merlin didn't smile for 3 days Arthur was the one noticing it and was so pressed by the fact that his servant wasn't feeling good that he wasn't fully able to focus on the matter at hand. He counted the days and tried all the cards he had to see him smile. He was by his side and wanted Merlin to do the same not because of loyalty but becase he needed him, Merlin became a part of his life and a part of him. He also risked his own life to save Merlin's countless times, which was reciprocate yes but for a Prince/King to go out of his way to risk their noble life for a manservant that could be replaced, that is something you won't easily see in history without certain reasons.
Not to talk about the soul tied thing, that would take a whole other paragraph. Like.. Come on..soul tied? Two sides of the same soul? That basically writes itself.
Arthur, in one of the cut-out scenes, even gave Merlin his mother's sigil, one of the last things he had about his mother! And that sigil is also the one that he was supposed to give to his future wife to give her the title of future queen! And he gave it to his manservant.
There are too many scenes that could be analysed separately, from the body language to the spoken one to even the use of light, and maybe I will post a few one day.
And I'll close all of this with 2 things:
1)On Arthur last moments all he wanted was to be held by Merlin.
2)The creators said they wanted them canon but couldn't and tried to do an "historical accurate" version.
