Summary: Sam keeps reading the spell, doing a quick and dirty translation in his head. “Dammit,” he curses when he gets to the last line of the incantation. “It won’t work. It says we need ‘The blood of one who died for love.’ But everyone’s just gone—there’s no blood anywhere. Certainly not ‘of one who died for love.’”
Dean recoils like he just got punched in the gut. He backs up a couple of steps and then turns and staggers back down the hall towards his room, wordlessly. Sam can’t tell if he’s drunk or just… distraught.
But a few minutes later, he re-emerges with something clutched tightly against his chest. His jacket. The one he was wearing when Cas died, the one stamped with Cas’s bloody handprint. He holds it out to Sam like a precious offering.
“There’s blood, Sam.”
(A post-’Despair’ fix-it fic in which Castiel’s sacrifice for Dean defies time and space to save the entire Supernatural multiverse.)
Sneak Peek: The second Cas, though… he’s with his Dean, standing behind him, chin hooked over that Dean in the space between his shoulder and his neck, one arm wrapped protectively around his middle. They’re both touching the stone, and they’re both shirtless, and they look much younger.
Dean balks. Seeing them… that Dean and Cas, so intimate, clearly together in the way that Dean only recently learned Cas wanted with him right before he was gone forever, cracks his heart wide open and makes him want to die. They have no idea that they’re rubbing salt into the worst wound Dean’s ever gotten. He burns with rage and grief and jealousy, and hot tears slide down his face before he can do anything to stop them.
But then this Castiel’s eyes change and he appraises Jack with a gaze that’s pure and black—he’s a demon. And there’s blood smeared across the other Dean’s mouth like—like... then finally Dean notices the bloodied cut on Castiel’s forearm, all messy and smeared just like the other Dean’s mouth.
He’s hit with a roiling wave of sickness at the idea.
“What the hell…?” Sam breathes. Then he purses his lips, shakes his head a little bit, and refocuses on the task at hand.
Jack waits for a few more long, agonizing moments. Dean can’t stop staring at the way the demon Castiel’s chin rests on the curve of the other Dean’s neck, like it belongs there. Like Dean belongs to him. In his periphery, he sees Jack give a short, stiff nod to each and every Castiel, and finally the demon Castiel and the tagalong Dean, before closing his fist around the stone.
Then they all vanish in an instant, leaving Michael, Jack, Sam, and Dean alone and Castiel-less once again.

Real and growing possibility of him dying live on tv and nobody in the room noticing for minutes on end.

The small Baltic country has refashioned the relationship between citizens and the state for the current moment.
One of the pitfalls of diplomacy, so the traditionalists assert, is when the representative of the foreign nation goes native. It is one thing to understand the country in which you are stationed; it is quite another to appreciate it too much. But what happens when, by all the available indices, that country really is a model to be emulated?
That is the problem that Ross Allen has grappled with during his five-year tenure as Britain’s ambassador to Estonia. As his posting comes to an end, he has written a eulogy toward the Baltic nation, which in foreign and security policy and the delivery of public services is setting the example for the world. It is appropriately called Estonian Lessons.
His analysis broadly accords with mine in Braver New World, my new book, which looks at expressions of political courage, imagination, and resilience around the world.
Much of Estonia’s strength revolves around digital technology. It has the highest number of start-ups per capita and the second highest number of “unicorns” (start-ups that have grown to over $1 billion in value) per capita, after Israel but in front of Singapore and the United States. It is ranked among the most efficient systems of e-government, alongside one of the strongest systems of cybersecurity. It is also a perpetually good performer in human rights and press freedom, backed up by a modern approach to education.
Why did Estonia become so advanced? Allen provides one theory from an official who said his countryfolk “avoid small talk and go out in bad weather.” Other factors in helping create social cohesion and inclusion that are offered, largely tongue-in-cheek, include singing and saunas.

I think Dean would have been more hung up on the realization that cas had never been happy than the angel being in love with him

The idea Jensen ruined the world by existing and not seeing Dean as bi is so childish but the mysoginy bit pissed me off so much. Jensen was in defense of Charlie. Jensen told Bobo he wanted Kaya addressed. People need to understand destiel isn’t the only queer ship in the show. https://x.com/endverse_dean/status/2063671888665039291?s=46
First, let me say that isn’t the first time Jensen showed his discontent with a show runner. He showed it with Sera Gamble when she was asked about Castiel being killed off. Maybe not as theatrical a display as his Charlie reaction, but it was all over his face and demeanor.
Secondly, people in fandom spaces will always be extra dramatic and extra loud for 1) attention and 2) to feel controversial.
NO I AM NOT SAYING PEOPLE DON’T HAVE A RIGHT TO BE UPSET OR MAD OR CRITICAL OR WHATEVER ELSE THEY ARE FEELING. BUT GOING THE EXTRA MILE TO BE LOUD AND SHITTY (I HAVE ALSO SEEN THE SPREADING OF MISINFORMATION AMONG NEWER FANS JUMPING ON A BANDWAGON) IS A WHOLE OTHER CHOICE. LET’S NOT GET THAT TWISTED.
I had to yell because apparently it’s the only way some people pay attention (not directing it at you, nonnie).
