Still have to complete the fez but other than that, the gender swapped Grunkle Stan wip is coming along nicely! I’m hoping to wear this cosplay on the Saturday at Comic Con next month (Birmingham).

Welp
Ignore my plan for Bipper, I bought some contacts for the first time ever and my mum basically disowned me 😰
I saw JJ from Skitsofanacts post this on their Instagram and I thought it looked fun😜
The challenge is to use three fictional characters to describe yourself!
I’ve been watching Chuck since I was 8 years old and now I’m 17 so even if I wasn’t born to relate to him, I’m sure there’s some social or cultural conditioning or whatever behind it! 😂 Just his geekiness and innocence are really important to me, and how no matter how much his life changed, he still kept those happy, caring, and nerdy characteristics. The show itself is probably responsible for most of my knowledge on geek culture, and it is 100% the reason I wanted to first go to comic con and start cosplaying in the first place so even that alone has impacted me so much. He also loves his family and would do anything to protect the ones he loves.
David from Camp Camp also has the same optimism and energy which I hope to keep with me, and just how he gets excited over even the little things made me instantly relate to him! He also loves camping (which I also love so much! Ever since I started going camping with my youth club I look forward to it every summer) and I also hope to become a summer camp leader either with my youth club when I’m old enough or another group because it’s so much fun! He’s also extroverted so even though his feelings get hurt easily, he still tries his best to remain positive.
Finn was another character I felt I relate to as my friends used to say I had leadership traits (another similarity with Chuck) and also his silly, laid back, carefree attitude is something I can relate with. He also did his best to look at the bright side, and his main goal in life was to make a difference. After graduating, he wanted to become a teacher which I also want to do. He also once said that Hawaiian pizza was the best pizza (which is easily is) and also there was an episode dedicated to the time he accidentally burnt an image of the face of Jesus into his grilled cheese sandwich (which he obviously named Grilled Cheesus) and prayed to it and if that ain’t me 😂😂
I tag @g0ddess-0f-destructi0n, @phantomclockworks, @internetfinalboss, @sectxm-sempra, @doritofalls and @killlakieran, also anyone else who thinks this looks fun!
A bit about me! I love tags like this haha😅
The best combo I found was the No Nails Paste mixed with matte foundation as not only did it make the wound look sore and less bright and cartoony, but it also had a thin base so it didn't stick out too bad and I was able to bend the base to fit around my arm. Also because the sides were thin and smooth, it blended into my arm a lot easier so, with my full attention, I should be able to make it a part of my arm. (Also while doing this one, the bin man thought I had a fork stuck in my arm and came over to help me😂)
So, I’m definitely NOT going to use the kitchen roll and super glue or the white paint and toilet paper as both had a very obvious shape that didn’t blend into my arm at all, as you can clearly see in photos 1 and 2! Then, I had the experiment with the PolyFiller, and while this was the most secure feeling as it stuck to the fork especially well, and also the spirit gum stuck to it really well, this one also had an obvious ending so if I were to use this, I’d have to taper the end off better than I did here (bear in mind that these were just experiments so I didn’t try my hardest to get the makeup just right). Something else I noticed was how the PolyFiller seemed to pick up with brightness of the fake blood the most, so if I used the PolyFiller, I would need to get darker fake blood, or add black body paint so it looked like blood more (which I am thinking about doing anyway). Looking at all of them on the counter, the PolyFiller is definitely the brightest, while the No Nails is less absorbent (however I did add matte foundation to this one) so, this one is definitely the most blended into the skin, which you can see in my next blog post.
I checked on the forks dipped in silver paint, and they dried a lot better in the metallic paint than the acrylic paint. The experiential forks also all stood on their own (except for the ones stuck to toilet paper as they were still wet) so I dipped those also into the metallic paint and set ready for the next day. I also wanted to make the look more realistic and less cartoony so I used yellow, purple, brown, and grey eyeshadow to create bruises on my arm, but changed tones in both slightly to show different stages of a healing bruise (the one up my arm would be a more recent bruise, while the one down my arm was meant to look older).
Well, this is trial and error if ever I've seen it! 😂😂 Yeah... remember when I said I was a beginner? Well now you can see that in action! When I applied the spirit gum to the fork, it stuck, but because the surface area was so small, I had to apply more to the bottom of the fork meaning it didn't look like it was coming out of my arm, but rather it was just stuck to the side of my arm. So I knew it needed a bigger surface to be stuck to my arm and also, this base needed to cover the tips so it looked like it was stuck in my arm, not on it. At first, I used white paint and toilet paper, to make a wider base that was still thin so it didn't stick out of my arm that much, and as the silver acrylic paint I bought wasn't sticking to the plastic forks that well, I also submerged the forks themselves into the paint and propped them up so they could dry sticking into the base (see images 1 and 2). Then I tried PolyFiller (image 3), kitchen paper and super glue, and No Nails paste (image 4) to make a thicker base that would dry better attached to the forks as the tissue paper from the first experiment seemed quite flimsy and weak. I did the same experiment from the first image, except with metallic paint, and finally, I dipped the remaining forks into the same paint and left to dry as this paint seemed to cover the forks a lot better than the acrylic I purchased (image 5). Now, we wait for them all to dry...
Went to town today for some cosplay stuff, in the end I got: - plastic cutlery - spirit gum (which I've never used before, hence the test) - silver paint - Grunkle glasses - fake eyelashes - a new Dipper top As far as being productive goes, this is a good day for me😂😂 When I got back I tested out to see if the spirit gum would hold the fork in place, and then messed around with some fake blood to see what it would look like. I have yet to paint the forks silver and buy yellow contacts but as far as casual Bipper goes, I'm further along than I thought!
Just a heads up, this is the line up for the next convention as long as the outfits go my way! Never wore contacts before, so Casual Bipper should be interesting to say the least (I only want to really do this because since I saw the episode I thought it would be awesome to try and recreate the forks in the arm here) But as far as Dipper's outfit goes, I've wore it enough times, while Grunkle Stan (well female Grunkle Stan) is completely different!
What I should be doing: revision What I have been doing: cosplay props
Literally nothing has changed with my attitude to school and cosplay 😩😂
In art we had to produce a piece using collage that was based on an artist and because I’m a giant dork I found a way to include Gravity Falls cause I’m still not over DaMvtF xD
Not so much cosplay related but it is GF related and so far that's all I have on this blog! And that's when I may have snuck a code from journal 3 into one of my art pieces 🙈😂
Sorry for the sucky lighting and awkward half face I’ve got going on but here’s progress on my memory erasing gun! Note to self: never try making a cartoon prop again XD (seriously there’s like 50 different designs of the same gun) I’ve almost got all the base layers of paint down, I just need to tidy up the middle section and the handle, and then get started on the chamber at the top! (I’ve also only got 3 days to do that, and find a long enough candle bulb to attach ahahahaha I’m fine)
The convention’s tomorrow; I have to finish the chamber on top but I think I’m almost done??
I think I made this about a year ago 😳 It's crazy how time flies 😅
Some photos taken yesterday at the convention that I’m hoping to use in my art project 👽✨
Spoiler alert: I used none of these in my art project 😂
The Gravity Falls cosplayers from the Sunday 👽👓🐷
There were so many Bills 😳✨
(also got some sweet face paint done 👌🏻)
Before I made this page, I posted my photos from conventions on my normal blog. So this is me from the last Birmingham Comic Con!
My first Grunkle Stan makeup test ever! The con is in November so I thought I’d test out doing older makeup because I’ve never done it before, and part of me thinks ‘should I?’ as I’m already doing a gender swapped version anyways. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I have yet to order the grey wig so when I do, I’ll be able to match the eyebrows up better too!
