idk if this is a young fan thing or new fandom culture but some of yall think fics are abandoned way too quickly. a few months or a year or two is not unusual to go without a fic update. sometimes fics take longer to write, other times writers have rl events, or maybe there's multiple fics and one gets more priority. there are tons of reasons for fics not to be updated every week or every month. it also isn't uncommon for people to come back and update fics after a number of years—ive read updates that took five, or ten years. people's lives change, but they still want to tell their stories. personally, i never consider a fic abandoned unless the author has said so; though if it's been a few years i manage my expectations. but a last update being a year ago is... generally not a sign that a writer has abandoned their fic

okay so the thing about vet kon is that. ttk, babey!!! it would be So useful. someone brings in a dog who's not eating and having problems and kon can literally just put his hand on this poor lil dog's head and go ah... i see... you swallowed some torn fabric from your toy, didn't you...

but the thing about that. well. getting there is such a character journey for kon "terrified of needles" el. and i really think there's such a lovely character arc in the background of this, where he works through a lot of his fear and medical trauma and is able to actually process until he's okay with being around these procedures because he's helping. and he's good with animals and he's a farm boy and it just ties together so nicely. plus, again. tactile telekinesis!

(this goes hand in hand with how i also headcanon him going to EMT classes after war of the supermen. he had to use ttk in an emergency medical situation to save clark's life. and it is NOT easy at first because medical stuff scares him so bad but also he's like i have this power. which is really, really well-suited for emergency medical procedures that could save people's lives. so i gotta get over myself and stop being so scared of learning how to use it!!) (he goes to EMT classes specifically as supernova, btw, because he wants to learn how to use ttk as a first responder. he tells the instructor he's supernova, then pretends to be doing a really bad job of fitting in as a "normal" student so all the others go "omg its supernova but he thinks he's being slick... teehee... we'll go along with it heehee" because a) it's really good reinforcement for the secret identity thing, and the way everyone thinks the superfam don't have secret identities, and also b) it's kon enrichment. he's having fun.)

the lawyer kon idea is partly inspired by my friend arthur @souperfam and also the new krypton storylines! bc in new krypton they do uh. try to say there's a UN resolution to ban all kryptonians other than superman from earth (at the time, kon is still dead). they gloss over and ignore this affecting kon when he gets resurrected (because geoff johns is a fucking hack who doesn't see kon as a real kryptonian after he retconned kon into being mixed and geoff johns does not respect mixed people whatsoever), but between this and how strongly he feels about clone rights, i think there is a really perfect and beautiful niche for conner kent to be a defender of alien and clone rights in the dc universe. like, they definitely have lots of weird shit going on that will have to result in SOME kind of legal precedent in-universe, right? like, in early superboy 1994 the local govt in hawaii has to decide how to deal with a 16yo with no birth certificate or parents and an implanted memory and education. i think there's definitely a story here for conner kent, impassioned defender of clone and alien rights, to champion aliens living on earth and to push for clone rights to be enshrined in the law, etc. also krypto gets to be a therapy dog for kids involved in these cases. do you see the vision

excuse me for stating the obvious but like. james gunn outright calling superman an immigrant and doubling down on it when he got backlash (because he IS an immigrant, that's the point of superman) + the in-movie dialogue of "aren't you going to read me my rights?" "you're an extraterrestrial, son. you haven't got any rights to read." + the violence of his arrest and how they torture and mistreat him unapologetically, all under the guise of "protecting america", in a film releasing during the onslaught of violent ICE kidnappings and abuse... yeah it's really no wonder right-wing knobheads are crying about this being woke. they're being forced to look directly at the reasons one of the most notorious heroes of all time would not be on their side. and that's only ONE of the reasons this movie covers
