How to make a request :)

Hi there! I just realized I never made a post about how to make requests, so I figured I would make one.

Please tell me:

What you would like the request to be about

What character(s) or from which show(s) the character(s) should be from

OPTIONAL: what character(s) you would NOT want me to use. (This helps me avoid making posts you don’t like.)

I would also appreciate/prefer if you put it in the form of a request.

Example:

Could you make a post about someone from Deep Space Nine understanding anxiety? Anyone except Dukat is fine. 

ADDED NOTE: Feel free to make multiple requests; I have no rule against them. :)

Jim Kirk understands being a transmasc person but really liking feminine things and acting feminine, and being upset because it isn't the breaking of gender roles it is on cis men. He knows that this is a really difficult topic for transmasc people because of the masculinity we're expected to perform in order to "successfully pass as cis". When cis men do traditionally feminine things, it's considered breaking gender roles, but when transmasc people do the same things, it's considered a sign that we're not really transmasc. Remember that this is a toxic double standard, and that if it makes you feel happy not to conform to the traditional gender role, you do you! Don't let people get you down. :)

Elim Garak understands something really upsetting and bad happening, but when you look back on it, even if it was straight up abuse, going "oh, that wasn't too bad" and underplaying it. It might not make sense, but it's a common reaction to trauma or abuse to underplay it and try to convince yourself or others that it wasn't too bad, or that you're overreacting by calling it abuse, even if there's evidence to the contrary. It can take a while to admit to yourself that this thing that happened was really bad and maybe even damaging to you, and it can be really hard to do that. Remember to take care of yourself and reach out to safe people who care about you if you need help working through this. He believes in you.

Uhura understands being paranoid of humans being able to read your thoughts. It can be difficult to feel as if even your thoughts aren't private to you, but please remember that no matter what, other humans have no way of knowing what you're thinking unless you tell them. Some things that can help reduce paranoid thoughts are to talk about them with trusted people, which can be scary (but it can also really help!) and also challenging your paranoid thoughts. For example, if you have the thought "What if that person at the bus stop/meeting/classroom/grocery store/etc. can hear my thoughts?", challenge it by thinking, "It's impossible for them to hear my thoughts because our brains just don't work that way". She hopes these strategies can help you! :)

your blog always makes me so happy :)) could you do something along the lines of uhura understands being paranoid of people being able to read your thoughts and maybe a reminder that no matter what, other people have no way of knowing what you’re thinking unless you tell them ? i know this is a little outside of the star trek canon bc there are mind readers in trek, so maybe replace ‘people’ with ‘humans’ ? whatever works, thank you so so much !!!

Data understands someone struggling with self harm. Self harm is a difficult and complicated thing to go through, and it can be a struggle to recover and heal from. Remember that it is worth it to recover, and that you are strong enough to make it through this. He knows it may not be easy, but he believes in you.

Data understands being physically assaulted by a family member. He knows that it is a very difficult thing to go through and to deal with the repercussions of. Assault is a traumatic thing, and can be worsened if the person who assaulted you is a family member. Please remember that you did not deserve to be assaulted, and remember to stay safe as best as you can. He hopes you can get out of this situation soon and safely.

Will Riker understands the guilt that comes with discovering someone close to you has been cutting, and feeling like you should have caught it because you used to cut. It's difficult enough to recover from your own self harm, but recovering can bring a feeling of anxiety that the people you love are self harming or considering self harming, too. This can stem from knowing just how bad it is because you've experienced it yourself. It's a terrifying feeling, because when you're dealing with self harm firsthand, there's already a loss of control. But there's an even bigger loss of control when someone you know is self harming and you feel like you can't do anything about it, or that you should have figured out it was happening or stopped it in advance. You shouldn't feel like you have to put the blame upon yourself, although it's understandable that you feel this way because of what you've been through. Remember to stay strong and, if you're in a good place, reach out to your loved one if they need help. But, and this is very important, if dealing with self harm again, even secondhand, could damage your recovery, it's important to set boundaries for yourself. Please know that you're doing what you can to help your loved one, and that you haven't done anything wrong by not catching this earlier.

Will Riker understands having to keep everything together all the time and be the strong one when you've struggled with unhealthy coping mechanisms in the past that you keep wanting to fall back on. It can be a struggle to feel like you have to constantly be in control of everything, or feeling like you might have to be an example of strength for others, when you yourself are still healing from your unhealthy coping mechanisms you used in the past. Remember not to push yourself too far, and to treat yourself fairly. Stay strong; he believes in you. :)
