Does anyone find it really funny how the Musicals Hamilton and Epic have main characters that if they were a little bit more like the other, would have had a SIGNIFICANTLY easier time?
If Odysseus was more in the moment Like Hamilton and task oriented. He would have made the right call in killing the cyclops because he would have “Not thrown away his Shot”
And If Hamilton was loyal to his wife like Odysseus, he would have been able to avoid the scandals and possibly became president
I’m thinking about Wicked tonight, specifically why Elphaba ends up with Fiyero instead of Glinda in the musical despite Elphaba and Glinda having the more well-rounded relationship.
You could chalk it up to the writers wanting a heteronormative ending (and I’m certain that’s part of it) or the fact that Elphaba and Fiyero had a love affair in the book. But I think there’s a bit more nuance to it.
The whole point of Glinda’s character is that she upholds the status quo of Oz. No matter how much she loves Elphaba or sympathizes with the plight of the Animals, she will always align herself with the current system and those in power. And as long as that remains the case, a relationship between her and Elphaba is futile because Elphaba will not give up her cause.
Elphaba and Glinda represent to different ends of a spectrum. Elphaba resists the oppressive forces in Oz, while Glinda upholds them. But Fiyero is somewhere in the middle. He starts out privileged and carefree like Glinda, but quickly turns to Elphaba’s side. He does become Captain of the Guard, but only to find Elphaba and help her evade arrest.
And therein lies the difference between Glinda and Fiyero as love interests to Elphaba. Glinda would never sacrifice her title as “the Good Witch” and all her power granted from the Wizard, even if it meant helping Elphaba. Fiyero, on the other hand, does give up his privilege, his title, and even his human form for Elphaba. Glinda clings to what the status quo gives her, while Fiyero ultimately rejects it.
Yes, the writing around Elphaba and Fiyero’s romance is a bit rushed and doesn’t have the same gradual development that Elphaba and Glinda have. And yes, I have no doubt heteronormativity played a role in giving Elphaba a male love interest in the end. But I see a lot of people write off Fiyero and his relationship with Elphaba and I just don’t agree.
Why does Elphaba end up with Fiyero instead of Glinda? Because Fiyero makes the sacrifices that Glinda wasn’t willing to.

Me, talking to my 5yo sister who has newly discovered Wicked, part 1: So who’s your favorite, Elphaba or Glinda?
Sister: Galinda, because she’s pink, of course. I’m going to have a Wicked birthday party. Wicked is better than Taylor Swift!
Me, dying atp: You know what, we can see about a Wicked birthday party.
am I crazy or does this actually slaps
And I've been waiting...
Waiting...
“Next to my wife” always hits no matter how many times I hear it. Then going right into The Challenge…
Perfection.
So there’s this cursed Odypen I did when Ithaca saga just came out. I think it was too cursed to post so I didn’t. But today I realized there is nothing too cursed for this platform apparently.
Ody: b-but I'm a monster 😢😭😭
Penelope, stripping naked in a single motion like a Magic Mike: okay then I'm a monster-fucker what's the problem
Ody: (oh dang there really ARE other ways of persuasion...)
Really cool wicked fanart by APOLAR on Instagram - apolar.arch their work is incredible. Check their page out!

Yea so Ody is finally home and he’s with his wife and son. It’s all cool and fun. But hold on. Can you imagine how HORRIFYING Odysseus and his family must be to other Royals now?
Here is a king that fought monsters, witches, slaughtered most of the male Nobles in his kingdom. FOUGHT POSEIDON AND MADE HIM BEG FOR MERCY!
And worst of all, he is crazy smart. So negotiating or trying to make deals with Odysseus must be the most horrifying thing in existence at the time. You can’t threaten him, you can’t negotiate a better position than him, you can only just sit there and smile as you pray you don’t accidentally offend him.
Oh and that’s not all, If Penelope also dislikes you, you’re f***ed. Because Odysseus fought a war for 10 years over an oath. Imagine what he would do if someone tried something with his wife… OH WAIT, we don’t have to. He SLAUGHTERED them! And she might not even need him to.
She is from Sparta and by Odysseus own words JUST AS SMART AS HIM. The main reason she didn’t go out and fight those nobles/kick them out is because of the laws of hospitality (which are enforced by Zeus). But with her god piercer husband, she doesn’t need to be so polite anymore. And she held the kingdom together for 20 years! She knows how to handle business. So yea, don’t mess with her either.
And his kid? He’s a warrior of the mind now! Who has the favor of ATHENA! WHO in a very short time learned how to fight. Going from losing a fist fight, to fighting dozens of men who only overwhelmed him because he got TIRED of kicking their asses! He has ATHENA on his side as his best friend. Dont even try
Point is The Ithaca royal family is a f***ing nightmare to deal with now.
I love the line “Only my husband knew that, so I guess that makes him you-“
Because that changes the entire Olive Tree/Bed test. Instead of it being a way to make sure that Odysseus is who he says he is, the force of the way she delivers the lines, and the fact that it comes after Odysseus says he is not the same man, serves to show she is showing Odysseus he Is the same, at his core, and always has been her husband and it makes me emotional-
Like, girl just went and reversed probably years of self loathing and “I’m not the same” with just one simple thing- (I love her so much- I love you Penelope)
I’m probably a little late on realizing this too- but I just- ahdhakdhoahdiaoheispd :3
Thank You for listening :3
Epic!Odysseus: My journey home was long and arduous because I was not willing to be ruthless and the weight of my sins clouded my mind until I became a monster.
Homer!Odysseus: My journey was long and arduous because my men were f***ing idiots.
Epic!odysseus: Actually that was also part of that reason. Did Poseidon have it out for you? Cause he killed most of my crew.
Homer!Odysseus: He did send a storm near the end of my journey when I was heading to Ithaca, but that wasn’t that much of an issue. but aside from that he really wasn’t that much involved. It was actually Zeus that had it in for us, but mostly cause what I said before, my men were idiots!
Epic!Odysseus: Wow, you had to fight Zeus?! I had to one v one Poseidon and stab him with his own trident to get him to finally f*** off. How did you get Zeus off your back?
Homer!Odysseus: YOU DID WHAT TO POSEIDON!?!?
yikes, unfollowing now. was a huge fan of his opera. had no idea he kidnapped the lead soprano and threatened to kill her fiancé if she didn’t marry him
Odysseus: I dont want to deceive you my love. I had to do a lot of things to get here. Penelope:... What kind of things? Odysseus: Well... I had to kill an infant so he doesnt grow up to kill us all, blinded a Cyclops, lost my fleet to Poseidon for not killing the Cyclops, had to fight a witch, resisted being seduced by the witch, went to the underworld, killed a bunch of Syrens, sacrificed 6 men to Scyla, got Mutinied, sacrificed the rest of my crew to Zeus, spent 8 years trapped on an Island with a Goddess that wanted to bone me (didnt though), nearly killed myself multiple times, had a musical number with Hermes, dealt with Charybdis, Fought Poseidon before stabbing him to make him call off the storm, and then slaughtered every man in this castle. Penelope: I see, well I will say this. You have REALLY gotten good at Dirty talk my love. Odysseus: (Remembering that his wife is a Spartan, in which blood shed and loyalty are top tier traits) Oh!!!!
