That poor child who had to pay to commission his own mother ($;$($;_!$($; idc what you say MY kids get everything FREE from me
This could never happen with me I cantttt 5his 11 year old saving up money for a drawing from his own parent 😭
yall this is taken out of context, the rest of the thread said how the mom didn't want to take his money but he was really excited to commission her. it's teaching the kid to value artists' time & also treating him with respect on something he clearly wanted to do! (enough that he saved up for it, kept track of his mom's commission slots, and checked to make sure he was giving her a fair price!)
This is actually super sweet and fuck the ppl making it out like the mom was taking advantage of him. It sounds like he’s really proud of her and wanted to “officially” get art of her - that means he respects her skill and her work! Good kid.
here’s the finished piece by the way! source

Way too funny not to share
i have a lot to say about the culture surrounding coming out and how much i hate it but it basically all boils down to how coming out is framed as necessary and something you just do as soon as it’s “safe” when you’re really not obligated to come out at all. like you literally don’t have to. even if it is relatively safe you do not have to put yourself through a potentially traumatic experience because you think it’s part of the lgbt experience or a right of passage or whatever. you don’t have to. that is an option.
when you think about liara and samara and wrex and grunt and EDI being the only ones who remember shepard and the crew of the normandy hundreds of years down the line
when you think about them meeting and reminiscing, wrex elaborating on battle stories, liara fondly recounting those personal histories, EDI replaying a few recordings she’s saved like home videos
when you think about grunt, the youngest, being the last survivor, no longer the baby, battle-scarred and ancient and still as wicked as ever, sitting alone and staring at the stars, shouting shepard’s name to the sky
You know what? Yes, aspec people are welcome in the LGBT community and that bears repeating, but it's more than that. Aspec people are a valuable and necessary part of the community. Aspec perspectives and experiences are an essential, important part of our community.
Aspec people belong in the LGBT community. Not as an allowance or an afterthought, but inherently. Not the way a kid who doesn't fit in gets invited to a party, like "oh, you heard that? I guess you can come too". Not in a way that is polite on the surface but still othering. They don't need an invitation, because they're just as intrinsic to the community as every other LGBT identity.
Aspec people have always belonged, and they always will. It's as simple as that.
Ace-centered ideas about attraction are so wonderful and complex the rest the the queer community could benefit from learning about them
Thinking about how little girls will go to an event and immediately locate another little girl to become best friends with for the rest of the day. Remembering best friendships that lasted only for the afternoon at the pool, or the cookout, or the week-long camping trip, or the wedding reception. They were short and sweet, but even decades later I can still remember them 💗
