I don’t think people truly understand the scope of the damage Sony is about to do to physical media. They literally invented the compact disc. They are the reason why Blu-ray as a format won the HD wars over HD-DVD. They have gargantuan influence over manufacturing disc-based media. If Sony as a company stops making physical media for their next gen gaming consoles, this is going to affect movies and music as well. If you buy CDs, DVDs, or Blu-rays, those are next on the chopping block.

Back in 2016 I was eating tom yum Mama noodles and watching the x files in my little student housing room at night feeling so worthless and friendless and full of anxiety about not finding internships and being kicked out of my program as a result. And I would make posts on tumblr about my many bad moods and self harm thoughts and anxiety and depression and "something is Wrong with me I am a mutation I've been Wrong from the start" and at one point googling d**d body repatriation in case I do go ahead with my self harm plans, etc, etc

The year is now 2026. I am still eating the same 2 packets of tom yum Mama noodles and watching the x files at night, but with my cat sleeping next to me, in a house that I (co-)own, in a relationship that's healthy in a way I never imagined possible, while having a job where I get to work from home and got promoted despite being new and never even asked for a promotion or did anything special, all because my manager is so nice and kind. I even have a little yard of my own to grow native plants which bring me so much joy and fill me with love just thinking about the wild life they support.

It really does get better. Hang in there.

Every time you go in a public place and something ISN’T disgusting it’s because somebody cleaned it. Every time you feel comfortable using a public bathroom or sitting at a restaurant table or setting something on a gas station counter or playing on a playground it’s because somebody cleaned it.
