also, not to keep going on the snw spirk t'hy'la mind meld situation, but the funniest implication is that there are Major Jim Things spock couldn't or wouldn't access during the mind meld, if you think of tos continuity (like tarsus iv or tycho iv), but he did specifically find out about orion's second moon, so either spock was told 'please don't judge that' and his curious ass immediately went 'I need to see what he did', jim acted bashful but wanted him to know, so he didn't even try blocking it, or both
