Out of the heart, the mouth speaks.
My Star Trek stuff! The first is my halloween costume from sophomore year, and I wear my TNG sweatshirt pretty much everyday. Unfortunately the sticker fell off the Federation history book, but oh well. I’m also looking to eventually acquire some bajoran earrings if anyone knows where to find those :P
reblog if you LIKE star trek, if you LOVE star trek, or if you have ALIENATED everyone you KNOW because you REFUSE to talk about ANYTHING ELSE
ACTING
I'm leaving this blog as I'm running a few others that are taking most of my internet-spent time. However I'm still going to follow it and I'm promoting all of you to Admin (Admiral?) so yeah.

Mine is Spock/Kirk and Trip/Malcolm.

Star Trek Songs?
Anyone have any songs that always remind them of Star Trek (even though they aren't star trek related? I know I always think of Star Trek when I hear Danny Boy (weird connection I know) and midnight city and stuff.

Stuff Star Trek Does Well
I think Bella and T'Avri have already said it pretty well, but I guess I'll add my two cents too.
What I love about Star Trek is basically its encouragement of growth, the idea that no matter who you are or where you come from your goals and valid and reachable. Nog becoming a Starfleet officer despite being a Ferengi, Bashir becoming a doctor despite being a PoC and his genetic status, Seven integrating into society despite being a Borg (though I do have criticism of how all of that was done). I also think the show generally did well with having other characters being realistically surprised at certain other characters' roles and status, and showing them to be in the wrong. Because having everyone be peachy-keen about everything all the time isn't realistic and therefore isn't effective at portraying HOW differences should be dealt with, you know?

To... the FUTURE!
For me, Star Trek was always a comfort because I grew up in a mixed race family but also in a somewhat racist environment socially.
In Star Trek and by the immortal words of Kirk in TOS: Plato's Stepchildren: "size, shape or color make no difference."
I dream of a future where we all see each other for the uniquely beautiful and individual beings that we are, not for petty differences in skin tone or place of origin. We are all capable of greatness; we just need to work to cultivate an environment that celebrates difference instead of causing harm to others for it.
IDIC (Infinite Diversity in Infinite Combinations) is a philosophy that we can all use and embrace in our daily lives, and I sincerely hope that someday the future will be a bright and beautiful place that everyone can share together equally.
Peace and long life! Sochya eh dif..

Hi guys!
Great to see everybody doing stuff with this blog. I'll post my star trek stuff later (cant take a photo atm) but lets do question time:
What do you think Star Trek portrays most effectively in terms of peace and acceptance?
My answer is probably gender. Not so much genderfluid, transgender, intersex, etc. but more women are in high positions and TOS was just breaking through the walls of patriachy especially with a woman in a senior position on the bridge of African descent. And in TNG the equality between the uniforms makes me so happy. :)

I might post some other odds and ends I have later, but this is my pride and joy! All seven members of the main crew (with phasers and communicators) on a replica of the bridge! I wanted to make fun videos of their adventures, but at this point I have zero ideas. Suggestions greatly welcomed! -megglesthetribble
This makes me laugh and cry all at the same time...
Greetings and salutations to all my fellow #startreknerds !

Hey! I guess I should introduce myself. So, some things:
I've been an old school scifi kinda girl for many years, but I'm still new to Star Trek. Literally, I watched my first episode of TOS roughly 2 years ago despite the fact that I fell in love with scifi when I was in high school.
I have seen the entirety of TOS, TAS and the original cast movies, with the exception of Generations.
DS9 and I have a slowly developing relationship. I am certain that it will never match the intensity of affection found in my relationship with TOS.
I'm old and I have younger siblings, so if you think I'm being big sisterish: I am.
I over-identify with Spock. It's kind of a problem.
I "write" Space Wives. (By write, I mean I'm steadily filling a folder on my google drive and I text Nilla in the middle of the night with headcanons.)
I have a frankly creepy obsession with the green women of Orion. As in, I flail about them on the regular and the best fanfic about them that I've found so far is the second episode of Star Trek Continues. Lolani makes me emotional.
I'm sure there is more, but, yeah.
