Hi, I was wondering if you had any jedi oc centric fic recs? I've had cravings recently and your recommendations always manage to scratch an itch

Hi! Ooh, this is an interesting trope but I suspect I'm going to need a little help here, so I'm doubly asking anyone who might have Jedi OC-centric fic recs to jump in! But I can also get you started! I tend to read fic that usually has the canon characters in a central role as well, but searching through my recs, I believe these ones should also be centered on the OCs enough to scratch that itch: ✦ Lucida by markwatnae, obi-wan & oc & anakin & ahsoka & bant & feemor & satine & garen & caleb & mace & cast, 75k After the start of the Clone Wars, Obi-Wan Kenobi chooses his second padawan. He meets her by chance, but the Force insists that he take her as his student. This decision turns out to be one that will change the course of the Order's future.

There they encounter new friends, new enemies and have new adventures, all while attempting to navigate their sometimes turbulent relationship as Master and Padawan. [Note: This one is probably going to be the least on-target for your request, as it's probably more an Obi-Wan & Anakin story than it is about the OCs, but I remember the OCs being nicely fleshed out and important in the story, so I'm including it on a chance.] ✦ The Quickest Way by SingManyFaces, anakin & ocs, 1.2k They say the quickest way to person’s heart is through their stomach, something that holds true for the Jedi as well.

I know I'm missing a ton and I love Jedi OCs, I love Jedi worldbuilding through the OCs and I love seeing slice of life or epic action plots or giving a familiar character a new Padawan (GIVE ME ALL THE OBI-WAN & A NEW KIDLET TO TRAIN STORIES!!!), so if anyone has more, gimme! Also, I swear there was a Jedi OC-centric fic that was being posted on a forum somewhere that came strongly recommended from the JA discord server, but I cannot find it again. I think it might have been the spacebattles forum? If anyone has a link, please send it because I want to find it again very much. (For memory, I think it was in its second story and was a couple hundred chapters long and people really liked it...?)

Umbra: noun, the innermost and darkest part of shadow resulting from the total obstruction of light by a planetary body in eclipse.

Night has fallen on the Republic. Clones open fire, and Jedi die- but not all of them. A Jedi and his padawan survive. But what is it to be a Jedi without the Republic?

Jedi Knight Cy and his Padawan Khlora narrowly escape the clone troopers and are aided by Dexter Jettster and his network in their continued survival. But having lived through the initial slaughter, they struggle to fulfill their role as Jedi without embarking on a suicide mission, or bringing the Empire down on their new allies. Khlora grates under a feeling of helplessness while Cy recovers from an injury and wonders about the safety of his Force-Bonded partner, a Jedi Healer named Raen who was elsewhere in the Galaxy when Order 66 was executed.

This has Jedi OCs, clone trooper OCs, early Rebel Cell OCs, Zabrak Jedi (Khlora), nonbinary Jedi (Raen), Jedi Culture Respected, Hurt/Comfort, processing of trauma, and almost everyone is queer. It is mostly Legends flavored (references events of the Legends Republic/Clone Wars books and comics) but that is not a prerequisite to understanding or enjoying this fic!

I will come back and complete this, I have another 25K written but I'm waiting to post more until I have a complete rough draft of the back half of it because where it ends now is the end of Act I, which is a good stopping point.

Three more years passed, and shortly before her twelfth birthday, Cy went to formally ask Master Yoda permission to take Khlora Thaddeus as his Padawan Learner. When he’d knocked on the door to Yoda’s private chamber, a wizened voice had called out a single word.

“Yes.”

Taking it as permission to enter, Cy had pushed the button to open the door, and stepped over the threshold. Master Yoda was seated on a cushion on the floor. Cy had bowed respectfully and sat on the cushion opposite to the Grand Master.

“Master Yoda, I am here to request your permission to take Khlora-”

Yoda cut him off. “As your Padawan. My answer, I gave you while still outside you were. Yes, I said. About time, it is. See you both at tomorrow’s council meeting I will.

“Now go,” he said, poking at Cy with his gimer stick as he grinned toothily, “Find your Padawan, you should.”

Cy rose from the cushion. Yoda prodded harder at Cy’s boot with his stick.

“Go,” he repeated, cackling gleefully, “Wasted enough time you have already! Much to learn have you both!”

“Thank you Master,” Cy said, bowing once again. As he had exited the room, he could still hear Master Yoda laughing behind him.

Chapter 8:

Cy’s blade made quick work of the wall; the circular cut fell to the floor with a clang. He took in the scene before him. Khlora and five others were in cuffs. A male twi’lek was on the ground, dead. The wound that had clearly killed him smoked lazily, and one of Khlora’s companions stared down at it as her breath came in gasps. An Imperial officer stood over them all, looking surprisingly amused at the development of having an intruder cut through his wall.

“A Jedi! To what do we owe this pleasure?” the officer spoke, “My my, even after the extermination of your Order, you still manage to stick your hands into everyone else’s business.”

Chapter 7:

She remembered one of her first missions with Master Cy. A broken world with an ancient crumbling Jedi Temple, long abandoned. They found the holocron and other artifacts they had been sent to collect, as well as some delightful tiny dragons about the size of her Master’s forearm. Khlora felt the warmth of that sun on her skin, and the wind in her hair.

Cy had let her wander a little ways out of his sight on that mission, and she had promptly fallen through the unstable floor to a lower level of the ruins. He had rushed to her instantly, but seeing that she was not in immediate danger, he sat cross-legged on the stone above her and coached her through figuring out how to crawl back up by herself.

Since there were a lot of sad clone feelings in the last chapter, here is some happy clone art by @nevermindigotthis. Here is Khlora with her BFF among the clones, Tyro (the pyro). The fact that they’re arm wrestling rather than full contact roughhousing tells us that one or both of them is probably currently in trouble for being too rambunctious on a small spaceship.

Tyro’s tattoos are a nebula/galaxy design, and they cover/merge with some bad burn scarring he got from an explosives incident.

Khlora could see that it was already too late. The skin on his chest was charred underneath the armor. He must have taken several shots from the many droidikas they had struggled to destroy.

Similar to my last post of Khlora being a handful- she always loved taking apart mechanical things to see how they worked. Eventually she learned how to put them back together too ha ha. That skill serves her well getting involved with things in Lani’s mechanics shop while hiding out after Order 66 in my fic Umbra.

Chapter 5:

Khlora was back in her childhood creché, and the most conscious part of her mind knew that was a bad sign.

It was.

When she turned away from what had once been her bunk, there were two small bodies on the floor. Her stomach lurched. The two younglings’ bodies were charred unmistakably by blasterfire.

This is one of my favorite drawings of Khlora! I got it at a convention years ago when I was just starting to commission art of Khlora and Cy and I absolutely love the pencil work.

Update on when I’ll be updating

I put this fic on hiatus after posting Chapter 4 on June 1st due to real world events because the next chapter (Chapter 5) contains the Star Wars equivalent of police brutality. We’re headed in the direction as a country where I feel comfortable posting it soonish- but not tomorrow. Also with the state of everything, I have not been up for getting that chapter ready to post.

So, no new chapter tomorrow. I am aiming to either post Chapter 5 or a short interlude for one of the @jedijune (check out their event! It's super cool!) prompts towards the end of this week or early next week. Thanks for your patience.
