Found out there are baseline humans in Warhammer who are specifically into pursuing Astartes, like Space Marine chasers. Which then makes you realize there's absolutely a market for Astartes sex work. Which then makes you wonder if any traitor Astartes who refused to fall to Chaos and couldn't cut it as a space pirate ended up selling hole on some planet outside of the Imperium.
"But Astartes don't have sex--", sure yeah they don't have a sex drive, but that presupposes that every sex worker is only having sex they want to have. That ignores the existence of gay-for-pay and asexuals who do full-service sex work because they view it as just another day at the dick sucking factory. Sex work is a job like any other; you're not helping people with the fakakte self-checkout machines at Target for the love of the game, you don't have a passion for it, you do it because you need to pay your bills. Same deal.
So yeah now my headcanon is that there are renegade Astartes on backwater planets posting the Warhammer equivalent of Craigslist ads like "Night Lord needs someone to be the Lord of his Night. 500 credits per hour. Outcall only, no kissing, lights must be off"

Everyone loves a cycle aware Orpheus but what about a cycle aware Eurydice? Eurydice who tries her hardest to resist the hunger and the cold. Tries to convince Orpheus to just LOOK UP time and time again to no avail. Eurydice who KNOWS and still fails. She knows he’s gonna turn around. She knows they’re not gonna make it out of hell together. But she hopes. Every time she hopes that he loves her a little bit less than the last time. Hopes he won’t look back. But of course, Orpheus is still Orpheus. And he loves her more than anything.

My reading about poisonous mushrooms reminded me of a childhood friend I had who got into an argument with his mom when he was 5-7 years old and he got so angry he picked a random wild mushroom in the yard and stuffed it in his mouth and ate it to punish her. He was a middle chid with 3 siblings. She freaked out and packed up his siblings and rushed him to the emergency room and they were desperately trying to identify the mushroom and pump his stomach, the whole family was trapped in the ER all night. Either the mushroom he ate was not poisonous or the medical team managed to flush it out of his system in time because he had zero ill effects. None. He was fine. I know this because his mother liked to recount this story to embarrass him when she was drunk and I remembered thinking “Damn, but he did kind of get the last laugh there.”

Its to the point where most Americans can’t conceive of a walkable community because everywhere is like this and several generations have now grown up in a world like this. There’s hardly anyone that can conceive of a world that isn’t like this. Most people either cave in and get a car or end up isolated. I live in a city that’s mostly walkable by North American standards and I still end up walking in the dirt on the edge of a stroad a lot of the time.
And don't forget, we can't get decent public transportation either.

learned today that one of the hosts of a podcast I occasionally listen to was in the epstein files because of an incident wherein she was being sexually harassed/abused by a man who worked in her field -> she created a google doc for other women in said field to anonymously submit the names of men who had harassed/abused them -> one of these men sued for her for defamation even though she didn’t know him & didn’t even know who his victim was -> he couldn’t afford lawyers & reached out to epstein for funding -> epstein gave it to him -> after 5 years she was forced into a settlement & had to pay him over $100k. the way these predatory men find solidarity with each other is so so so profoundly evil
