PSA: tumblr user littlefuckinmonster is stealing human bones from cemeteries in Louisiana. Please donāt let them get away with this and spread the word/signal boost!
this post is officially a decade old now
For anyone who wasnt around when this happened, this was real. Littlefuckinmonster was actually stealing bones from cemeteries. She is the bone stealing witch. She was specifically stealing bones from poor people. She was arrested for it.
This is not a Goncharov, this literally happened, hereās the Wikipedia article about it.
World Heritage.. Something
at least can all we agree that the original gay flag with the magic and sex colours is BEAUTIFUL and it should make a comeback
whatās more iconic than this
What about the final version of the flag by the original creator?
Gilbert Baker added a 9th stripe shortly before his death, with the new stripe representing diversity. He added this stripe in reaction to the 2016 US election. Itās unfortunately not as well known as the 8 and 6 striped versions.
Hereās an image of him sewing together the 9 striped rainbow flag.
Happy pride month everyone
I will die on the hill that The Legend of Korra is good. Not flawless. Not beyond criticism. But still Good. Genuinely, confidently, interestingly good. I think a lot of the discourse surrounding it is filtered through nostalgia for The Last Airbender, which was never going to be replicated because Korra was never trying to tell the same story.
They're fundamentally different stories with fundamentally different goals. It'd also be naĆÆve to pretend misogyny hasn't played a role in how Korra herself has been received. She gets criticized for flaws that are treated as compelling character development in male protagonists. She's impulsive, emotional, arrogant, stubborn, and often wrong, which is exactly what makes her interesting to watch.
The narrative doesn't reward those flaws. It repeatedly forces her to confront them, to grow through them, and to rebuild herself after being broken down. You're absolutely free to dislike The Legend of Korra. Art is subjective. But I think a surprising amount of the conversation around it says more about the expectations people brought into it than the show that was actually made.

I haven't seen dancing pumpkin guy ONCE this year, are you guys okay?

According to this site, August 1 is the first day of Halloween.

been thinking about this tweet for a month straight
you don't have to advertise that to me, i'm already well aware
is this before or after the hand stuff
was talking about bus ads with my coworkers yesterday and i'd only just mentioned the "reseller ads" before one of them said "yeah, the one for fucking your brother" and everyone nodded. yes yes we've all seen it
I went to a clothes shop with my daughter yesterday and we were talking about how the clothes were nice but how it was the kind of shop that made us both feel like a horse. You know itās like, here I am, a horse at a human clothing shop, putting on clothes that look ridiculous on a horse, and itās obviously my fault for being a horse and not a human
Of course that sweater looks weird on me, Iām a horse, not a human! I can barely get my hooves through the sleeves, and it bunches up over my withers and doesnāt reach my fetlocks, and thereās no accounting for my hindquarters. Or my forequarters either
So then we started talking about horse shops and classifying clothes as for humans or for horses, and now Iām afraid the idea of the horse shop is permanently cemented in my vocabulary, and someone is going to ask me about clothes and Iāll be like āoh I canāt shop there it isnāt for horsesā and it will be weird
Imagine being Anais Mitchell and writing a song about the rhetoric of fascism so incisive and prescient that 10 years later an actual fascist would use that exact rhetoric down to the highly-specific phrasing in his presidential campaign. But also it took 10 years for the project you wrote that song for to move from living room shows to concept album to theater workshop to off-Broadway to Broadway, and its Broadway debut ended up coinciding with said fascist's successful bid for the presidency, and now it looks like your song that you wrote in 2005 is a super unsubtle reference to that one particular and highly-topical politician.
Frankly if I were her I would have started killing.

Sometimes whenĀ IāmĀ feeling down I like to remind myself that once, on /v/, I sang A Whole New World, as Jigglypuff, with a guy doing a solid impression of Professor Oak.
WHY CANāT I STOP LISTENING TO THIS
spits food everywhere
Oh. My. God.
I⦠Yes. Just⦠yes.Ā
You also purchase CDs once and as long as nothing happens to them you get to keep them forever.
and if you have a computer with a disc drive, you can move the content of those CDs onto it and then burn it onto future CDs. it doesn't even have to be the same album. you can make a playlist with physical media. you just have access to all of it, at your whim, with no unskippable ads being shoved in your ears. it's really nice!
I think itās important to bear in mind that ācomplexā doesnāt necessarily mean ānuancedā. A thing can be complicated and also stupid as hell.
