What lead you to start working with Digital Extremes?

Hi! Thank you for your question!

I can only *assume* what could've made them consider me for the projects I had the fortune to work with them, such as Operation Orias and Fables and Frontiers: Running Late update, so don't take this as a magic formula or a rule of thumb of any kind.

Digital Extremes is notoriously known for supporting and giving chances to novel artists (I include myself in this category since I had just one gig for an independent team prior to Operation Orias) when other companies require you to practically do 3 back flips and be proficient in 5 programs with an industry level portfolio just to have an interview. In my particular case I think having an overall internet presence as a professional artist definitely helped (I am a freelance artist who survives on commissions and Patreon when not doing contract work), being transparent about my work process when working on complex rendered illustrations (I stream and post timelapses on Youtube although they never asked me for these, I just enjoy showing and sharing what I do, but I can imagine this is also something they observe if an artist does it since it sparks curiosity about their process and helps giving insight) and most importantly being a good fit for what they needed.

My portfolio is not strong in concept art (and definitely not for graphic design either) compared to my illustration skills, so I can again only assume they considered me a good fit for the Hex's F&F designs based on having a strong interest for the romance system / lore-character narrative design (and playing TTRPGs once a week lol). I truly think they do take into consideration the artists' interests in the Creator Program and what they'd have fun with when offering commission opportunities.

Now if I had to reply to what lead "me" to work with Digital Extremes, I am just a big fan of the game and extremely cringe about my characters' kissing (or kissing Wally). I love creating and giving back to people who support me, be it "just a little guy asking me to draw their OC" or a company such as DE. They're an absolute delight to work with and I appreciate a lot everything they do for the community and human rights outside of it.

Getting a commission offer by them has always been scary and I had to deal with a lot of imposter syndrome both times, but I think it's very important to do things scared and be genuine if you need help or find yourself stuck in a task. People are more often than not more understanding than you think, and in my experience it's also the case with DE :)

I graduated with a bachelor's in graphic design just a few months ago and the job search process has been nerve racking. Hear about this helps keep me out of the doom and gloom. Warframe is a game I've clocked 1700 hours in (insane thats still baby numbers) and has gotten me through a lot so far.
