Happy Snicket Sunday!
Here's one I think a lot of you will be excited about. Who is your favorite snicketverse character (and yes, I am including ATWQ here if you like), and why? You get to sing the praises of your blorbo and convince us that they are the true best. Go!

REASONS WHY FIONA IS THE BEST CHARACTER
1. Cool glasses. Idk why triangle glasses aren’t a big thing yet, and why I can’t buy them at the optometrist. She even wore them as a baby??? Iconic.
2. Mycology!! She was into mushrooms BEFORE it was cool, and I think that’s great. As a kid I didn’t get it, but now i totally do. Fungi is awesome.
3. In ASOUE, I think most of the child characters are either one dimensionally good, or one dimensionally nasty. Even the Baudelaires’ morally grey moments are pretty tame, since most of the time they are either entirely excusable, or have no other choice. But Fiona is genuinely morally grey and interesting. She’s very sympathetic and understandable, as a scared kid raised in what’s essentially a cult and trying to hold on to as much of her family as possible, but she also gave Olaf access to a deadly biological weapon which ended up indirectly and directly killing a lot of people. So yeah, super compelling!!
4. Her relationship with Fernald retroactively adds a bunch of depth to HIS character too, which is great.
5. Cool glasses again
just finished rereading the grim grotto... i forgot how much i loved fiona
When you think of me, think of a food you love very much.
In a different life where Fiona Widdershins and Klaus Baudelaire meet each other again by chance, they spend the day together to discuss the pain and joy of their past, parting ways one more without heartbreak, and hope for each other's their eventual 'better off' ending.
Okay, so Netflix Klaus Baudelaire is a more woke Klaus, just a little than the books. And I would like to analyze more on that moment when Klaus added “And woman” on what was Violet talking about Uncle Monty’s venom samples.Â
I think IT IS UNDOUBTEDLY INSPIRED BY WHAT FIONA DOES, you know Captain Widdershin’s motto “He who hesitates is lost.”, then Fiona’s adding “Or she.” every-time it is forgotten. And with that, aside from my unlikable ship heart being glad until now, I have a feeling (and I really hope it would happen) that there will be more depth in Fiona’s character and (hehehe) Kliona.Â
(also i am itching for just tinie tiny trailer of season 2 please)
I wonder how this person is doing considering how horrifically Kliona was handled in the adaptation
Unwell, but I still loved their tragic romance. Fan fiction is always there
Have you perchance read The Widdershins Letters...
on the one hand the older i get the less i am able to be invested in teenager ships on the other hand rereading the slippery slope and the grim grotto is really like oh i really do get why early fandom years people paralleled quiglet with beamony and kliona with kitlaf (and later lemony/ellington as well but like, the prev two was before atwq era) and i really can feel the tragedy of it, of them, and to me the time they spent together was pretty short considering the timeline of the books, it's not the kind of, built over long time love, but it is, meeting someone enjoying their company briefly and then abruptly the time comes to a stop, whether by outside forces forcing you two apart or there's betrayal involved, and then you lost contact and possibly never saw each other again and one or both of you possibly died, and if one of you (or both of you lived but never meet again) this memory of having liked this person of having met this person and solved problems alongside them, even just briefly, a kind of happiness amidst your other troubles, a connection with someone that brought comfort to you during a really really hard time in your life escaping from villains and in search of the truth. and then everything was abruptly cut short, like it really just - cut short.
and you may never meet them again, may even not know what happened to them. and you'd always wonder, if things turned out differently, what would today have been like.
and in kliona's case there's also the betrayal involved, of fiona betraying them but also, this is her choosing her family, and the realization of that, for kids like them who do understand choosing family first, because that's what they do. it's not like, a grand love, they've only met a few days, but it still hurt. the chef salad quote also appeared in the grim grotto, along with the story about fernald and gregor and the snicket twins' involvement, and the theme's just, so very chef's kiss. i am a the penultimate peril lover but the slippery slope and the grim grotto are also so interesting reads - the revelation of vfd's full name, all the information about vfd that came through quigley (which in turn came from jacques, directly or not), and the complexities of sides and the schism in the grim grotto and the betrayal and family. i'm just. emotional.
KLIONA LEMINGTON PARALLELS YOU WILL ALWAYS BE FAMOUS TO ME
Could you write a Fiona/Klaus ficlet, please?
i can try! I don’t know how good it is cause i’ve never written this pairing before, but i hope u like it!
