It's thinking about the origins of Ellie's interest in space hours.

Just imagining a little girl, trapped in a military occupied city, surrounded by so much pain and deterioration, and, frankly, filth. There are walls on all sides, beyond which she's never even glimpsed. But sitting on some hidden away roof, with her best friend, there is one thing of beauty within her grasp; the Sky. No one is taking the stars away from her. The stars are vast and so far removed from the destruction of this world.

An astronaut can go where ever they want, and see such amazing things. What else could a girl desperately craving freedom want?
