I'm hoping they are able to stick together, at least for a while yet. There's so much more that can be done with them and having them break up so quickly would probably mean that the story wouldn't give them good character work to explain what happened. I could see maybe something happening in Season 3, but hopefully we should be alright for the rest of this one. There's not enough time, imo, to give them what they deserve for a story if Forge and Storm split.
There's also the potential for them to stick it out in this universe. There's been quite a few changes to these characters already that erase/alter some of the mistakes they make in the comics (Scott and Maddie, some things with Charles, putting Roberto and Jubilee together), and so far all the relationships we have seen get together have stuck together. We can hope Forge and Storm get to stick it out too!
I couldn't agree more, and I love your optimism. I think it's just my self-defence mechanism not letting me entertain any hope, haha.
Storm/Forge is, well, everything to me, but I'm so used to seeing it diminished or ignored by both writers and fans that I'm assuming X-Men '97 will do the same.
So even if there is technically too much going on to break them up in season 2, I wouldn't put it past the writers to annihilate the ship real fast, without much regard for what it meant to the characters. It's what happened in the comics after all.
As for them sticking it out in this universe...Oh, may the gods hear you.

I don't think my current mental health will let me post about every episode, but this one touched my sensibilities (ie, loads of Storm/Forge and Forge content), so I wanted to write down my thoughts.
Spoilers, of course.

Ahem. *fans herself* I'm fine, I'm fine. I'll just add that this was a lovely, unexpected spotlight that was very faithful to my boy's history and character. We even see his exceptional marksmanship, which isn't always mentioned explicitly. This show is taking the time to show different aspects of Forge, and I appreciate that. (I'm more or less at peace with the fact that we won't see his mystical side. It's probably for the best when you think of how it could go wrong...)
Effortless Storm/Wolverine team-up. Nice.
Forge and Wolverine do not need to be holding each other like this. There's unnecessary and unprofessional touching going on, much like Forge had unnecessary touching going on with Beast in season 1. This is a polycule and everyone's pansexual.
I hate Forge/Storm/Wolverine as a love triangle, but I'd take them as a throuple. Just saying.

There might just be some sort of foreshadowing to the fact that Logan is here during the Forge/Storm kiss, but for now he just got discarded like an old bandana. Sorry not sorry.

So the conflict in their relationship is his cold scientific brain? It's simplistic but cute, and I'll accept it. It's not like a cartoon can do justice to the complicated mess that is the Storm/Forge romance.
Shoutout to Gil Birmingham for the voiceover work. It's very calm and controlled, with glimpses of emotion and sarcasm in chosen moments, and it's exactly how I imagine Forge talks. Birmingham deserves more credit.
