@stormandforge
I'm afraid that X-Men '97 now having Storm and Forge as headmistress and househusband sets the stage for the terrible breakup of 1992. The event that assassinated Forge's character for all the readers who weren't familiar enough with him to realise the writer was producing nonsense.
I don't need another generation (or 2 or 3, really) calling Forge an immature crybaby. He's a lot of things - just not that.
So if it happens in X-Men '97, if Forge has a little tantrum because Ororo isn't paying him enough attention and walks out on her, and you're wondering, what the hell, then hit me up. I'll give you the lowdown on the utter BS that was the original source material.
I'm hoping they are able to stick together, at least for a while yet. There's so much more that can be done with them and having them break up so quickly would probably mean that the story wouldn't give them good character work to explain what happened. I could see maybe something happening in Season 3, but hopefully we should be alright for the rest of this one. There's not enough time, imo, to give them what they deserve for a story if Forge and Storm split.
There's also the potential for them to stick it out in this universe. There's been quite a few changes to these characters already that erase/alter some of the mistakes they make in the comics (Scott and Maddie, some things with Charles, putting Roberto and Jubilee together), and so far all the relationships we have seen get together have stuck together. We can hope Forge and Storm get to stick it out too!
I couldn't agree more, and I love your optimism. I think it's just my self-defence mechanism not letting me entertain any hope, haha.
Storm/Forge is, well, everything to me, but I'm so used to seeing it diminished or ignored by both writers and fans that I'm assuming X-Men '97 will do the same.
So even if there is technically too much going on to break them up in season 2, I wouldn't put it past the writers to annihilate the ship real fast, without much regard for what it meant to the characters. It's what happened in the comics after all.
As for them sticking it out in this universe...Oh, may the gods hear you.

My ship is being brought back to life right before my eyes. It's so heartening to see this kind of content after so many years on my own.

X Men 97 - Kisses
Raw reactions to X-Men 97 S2 episode 1
I don't think my current mental health will let me post about every episode, but this one touched my sensibilities (ie, loads of Storm/Forge and Forge content), so I wanted to write down my thoughts.
Spoilers, of course.

Oh, hello.
This look doesn't belong in a children's cartoon. But I've screenshot it, so you can't escape it now.
*happy sigh* This is all so loving and tender (and slightly horny, because X-Men), I just can't.
I might never stop talking about this. Did you notice how long the kiss lasts? Did you hear Forge's little happy chuckle?
