My ABO verse rules
Secondary gender usually develops within the window of puberty to college.
Sensitivity Periods (Ruts and Heats) for a healthy individual occurs 1-3 times per year. The typical length ranges from 3-5 days but it is possible to be more or less. Severity can range from being mild symptoms to more extreme.
Male alpha: can father a child like a normal male but are particularly virile during ruts (have knots) can impregnate any female or omega
Female alpha: can mother outside of ruts and father inside of them (vagina puffs out like how birds mate)
Male beta: like a normal man. has pheromones but more subtle or calmer. He can’t utilize them like other genders but is resistant to pheromones of others. can impregnate any woman or omega
Female beta: normal woman. has pheromones but more subtle and calm. more sensitive to others’ pheromones than beta male but able to utilize her pheromones somewhat. can become pregnant by any male or alpha
Male omega: normally can father, in heat can become pregnant. has two passages, one waste the other birth canal. it is very rare for them to become pregnant outside of heat as during that time the passageway is closed and the “female” organs are inactive
Female omegas: highly fertile but especially so during heats. can be impregnated by any male or alpha.
secondary genders are usually for life but there have been situations where someone’s secondary changes (unexpected but not completely unheard of). The one who changes usually keeps aspects of their original secondary gender.
For example a male omega who once was an alpha may keep both their physique and knot.
The change in secondary gender typically occurs in long-term committed couples whose primary and secondary genders are non-compatible.
Note: mating bites are not a thing. Mated pairs are resistant to the pheromones of others due to naturally syncing with their partner, much like a normal committed couple aren’t interested in other people aside from their partner. Mated pairs are not just alpha-omega.
Fated pairs are more like extreme mutual pheromone compatibility. It might be extreme attraction between two parties, or a feeling of calmness and security.
For example, a male alpha businessman experiences peace and stress relief from his female beta secretary’s pheromones, while she experiences a sense of security and trust from his pheromones.
Of course, such situations might be associating the person with the pheromones, but that is a question of “what came first - the chicken or the egg”
I feel like Megatron x Kiloton doesn’t get enough love.
Like a lot of the MegaOp fanfics could have Kilo easily replace Optimus.
For example, keep Optimus as the boyish youth who faced up against the older Megatron and grew to become the supreme leader of the Autobots, at times dignified and heroic and other times the laidback almost father like playful figure that can be approached for both wisdom and fun.
Kiloton, meanwhile, was with Megatron when he first became an athlete in the Gladiator rings. Not only did he help him grow his athletic career, but also developed Megatron’s Decepticon philosophy.
Kiloton originally worked as an assistant maintenance medic (sports focused medic). He was more a scholar type but he greatly admired gladiators, who combined both brawn and intellect in battle, like the warriors of old in war mech stories and histories. The young Megatron, despite his lack of experience, had the potential to be the greatest. Kilo was the first to recognize it and immediately attached to him, only wanting to see this mech reach his full glorious potential.
Love hadn’t been the goal, but it developed between them both. For Megatron, Kilo was the first to believe in him outside of his family unit. And he not only stuck with him through successes and defeats, Kiloton genuinely helped him grow and rise. Kilo also listened to Megatron’s grander ambitions, still ephemeral. He didnt scoff or treat it as fantasies that while good would never see the light of day. Kilo actively helped him bring it to fruition.
And Kilo adored the strong and strategic warrior who had the makings of a true leader. Who had a caring heart for his fellows and was assertive enough to do something about it.
(Side note: Kiloton’s backstory needs more fleshing out, like a real person instead of a mere support prop.
Also, perhaps Kiloton and Megatron were the names they took as part of their Conjuxing. Like a tradition where the couple took similar sounding or names that shared a character or syllable.)
Only Megatron started going down a more brutal path. He became less interested in establishing peace between the different polities and races, and more interested in establishing himself and the Decepticons as the dominant power.
Kiloton was feeling doubts, especially regarding the direction Megatron took the concept of meritocracy. One in which internal competition was allowed to an extreme degree, allowing for not one political group to have domination within the Decepticons besides Megatron’s own standing. One that he himself maintains. Kilo was the only one Megatron could completely trust as even his most loyal subordinates had their own agendas.
Kiloton’s place as Megatron’s most trusted advisor made him a thorn in the eyes for others - and an opportunity for the most crafty.
Indeed, Starscream had crafted a most ingenious plan - one involving Kiloton going to negotiate a surrender from a rival group, only to end up killed. Starscream would then bravely retrieve his body to present to a heartbroken and enraged Megatron, successfully upping his rank within the forces.
What the prince of Vos did not foresee, what his spy around Kiloton reported, was something that Kiloton was trying very hard to hide: Kiloton was carrying.
Starscream was many things, but he had a slight flaw that he was rather unwilling to make public: he had a soft spot for sparklings. And considering the current rapid decrease in offspring due to the civil unrest creating an environment where mecha won’t enter a receptive period necessary for carriage, it is a BIG DEAL.
So Starscream did the only thing he could that would preserve his shot of getting up the ranks: he approached Kiloton. Using the other’s suppressed doubts that he had only voiced to Megatron and a trusted confidante (that Starscream’s spy made sure to overhear and report), Starscream managed to persuade Kiloton to fake his death and go somewhere far from the escalating situation so that he can safely deliver and raise the child in safety and anonymity.
Starscream even threw in a promise of having Megatron’s back (with every intention of breaking this promise should Megatron get in the way of Starscream’s rise to power).
Kiloton agreed. And by combining both of their intelligence, came up with the perfect plan (quite frankly Starscream was a little relieved Kilo was going into “retirement”. Otherwise he would never get the drop on Megatron.)
The plan succeeds, and a young work mech named “Range” fled with others off-planet. Meanwhile, a heartbroken Megatron descended further into darkness and tyranny. (In the years that followed, after Starscream became the official second in command & in closer reach of Megatron’s fists, the Seeker commander would half-wish Kiloton was there to calm that crazy fragger and get that thuggish brute to see reason! The warlord is vastly intelligent, but somehow his IQ goes down the drain when it comes to one-upping his greatest rival, Optimus Prime!)
For some time, under his pseudonym Range, Kiloton would live on a colony planet, deep within seclusion. He had enough medical skills both from his previous profession and taught by his closest friend Glit. One day, after the Cybertronian Civil War had officially started, a vessel crashed into the are around Range’s small farm. It was a small vessel, but what made the carrying mech pause was the insignia on it: the Autobot symbol.
Still, the mech was tired of death and fighting. So he helped the Autobot. Unfortunately, it turned out to be one of the legendary Autobot commanders, second only to The Supreme Commander, Optimus Prime himself. Each one led their own Autobot army and acted with independence from their leader. Each one also wielded an artifact that had only been known by legend for eons, bringing the mystical to reality.
And this particular commander was well-known for wandering around on his own and seemingly always lands exactly where Justice is needed: Star Saber
When the other finally awakens, Kiloton is not met by a stoic and noble warrior similar to the Primes of old.
Instead a bright, optimistic soul cheerfully greets and thanks him and does his utmost to befriend his rescuer. Kiloton finds out the other was actually called Wing Saber. The artifact was called Star Saber but the commander was often called by that due to the fact his artifact was so famous and that it was like he and the legendary sword were one.
Honestly, Saber was refreshing mech who somehow keeps a firm hold on his ideals despite the horrors he faced. “Range” couldn’t help but feel closer to the mech, especially when the two discovered that the other was well-versed in the old legends and histories of their people.
Their friendship grew to the point that Saber actually invited him to join the Autobots.
That opened quite the can of scraplets. Saber was rather sympathetic and reassured Kilo that he wasn’t the only former Decepticon who left due to no longer agreeing with their philosophy. Kiloton was still hesitant.
After a certain incident involving some less than ideal houseguests, Kiloton joined Saber’s Autobots.
Under the identity of Wayfinder, he traveled to different Autobot bases, offering both military consulting and negotiation mediation. While traveling, he’d often find himself in situations where a friendly hand, quick thinking, and sometimes a quicker draw are needed.
Back at base, Kindle was growing well with his friends. The moments with his calm and loving carrier were always special though.
When Kindle took the name Hot Spot, Wayfinder looked so proud.
… But then he found out the Protectobots were needed on Earth aka Area 0, where the Autobots under Optimus Prime keep Megatron occupied and separated from his other forces.
Wayfinder suddenly glitching scared the spark out of everyone present. When he finally rebooted, he, with his fellow parent Drift’s assistance, gave the young Protectobots an intense crash course on each Earth assigned Decepticon - their appearance, fighting styles, habits, quirks, favorite tricks and underhanded moves, main allies, main rivalries, and where they ranked on the “Run the hell away” scale.
The last thing: Wayfinder insisted Hot Spot must NEVER take off face mask. Not even when he is sleeping or eating or thinks he’s alone.
When his son’s kind ruby eyes looked at him with confusion, from a face that seemed a perfect mix of his two parents, Wayfinder could only say that, back in the day, he might have ticked off a few too many Cons that were now high rankers on Earth.
… He did not appreciate Drift’s judgemental look from where he was helping a frustrated Blade memorize Seeker wing flicks.
His son knew his parents separated because his father became part of the Decepticons. What he didn’t know was that Wayfinder did indeed know where he was and just how hale and hearty he was despite the best efforts of Autobots and Decepticons alike.
… Primus alive let Magnus and Prime be right about the Decepticons not bothering with Search and Rescue bots.
(Primus alive don’t let Father and Son hurt each other.)
An Archive of Our Own, a project of the Organization for Transformative Works
This year's hurricane was truly a doozy. First Aid was just glad the human authorities roped the Protectobots into the disaster response as early as they did. The town was precariously situated on the mountain. One big mudslide would completely bury it. Which was why they had to evacuate the townspeople as quickly as possible!
While the human authorities guided those within the town proper to safety, the Protectobots focused on those homes further away from the town proper. Several trees and power lines had already been knocked down. While it was raining too hard for there to be any fires breaking out, the Protectobots were very careful to use their anti- conduit technology so they didn't electrocute their charges.
First Aid had just finished passing up the last of a group sheltering in a cabin in a ravine when the mud flow suddenly picked up. The young medic lost his balance and ended up being carried away. He disappears from view, but not the Protectobots' comm system.
First Aid ended up getting sucked into one of the region's sinkholes and was in the cavern system under the mountain. Knowing that their long-range communications would not hold up with both the storm and distance, Aid told his team he'd find a way out. Or at least a place where they could safely dig him out. After reassuring his Protectobot brothers, the medic made his way through the cave system, guided by his dimmed headlights.
As he made his way through, First Aid started to hear what sounded like... whimpering? It wasn't an animal, and it didn't sound organic... !!! Now alarmed that one of his teammates ended up down here, injured, the medic booked it through the looming darkness.
When he finally entered a cavern... the medic was bodyslammed by something heavy.
Groaning, the slightly stunned First Aid lifted his helm only to see... Vortex?
He... he was crying. And clinging to Aid. Considering how much taller and bulkier the other was compared to the medic, it might have been funny if it wasn't clear how distressed the other transformer was. The heli was mumbling without being able to form words.
Seeing the normally scary, confident soldier look like a scared child...
First Aid got right to work. While using his medic scans on his new patient, the young Protectobot slowly raised his servos, while softly speaking to the terrified mech.
"It's alright. It will be alright. I am going to scan you for injuries now."
His servos gently landed on the other's frame. The other gave a big flinch that stilled Aid... and then relaxed as if a needle poked an inflated balloon. An undercurrent of tenseness remained, however, and the other was still making sounds.
Slowly, First Aid moved his servos, both to soothe and check the patient's frame in greater detail than his personal scanners would have picked up. Near the edge of his rotor, Aid felt some damage, with Vortex barely flinching.
"Alright, your nociceptors are still functioning. Would you like me to turn them off so I ..." Vortex immediately tensed up, his servos that were clutching the other mech denting the kibble, "... ok then, I won't. May I still treat the injury?" At the infinitesimal relaxation, Aid got to work.
Noticing that the volume of Vortex's muttering lowered when he was speaking, Aid immediately started narrating what he was doing. When he was done with the patchwork, Aid asked if he could continue treating the other.
At the nonverbal cues, First Aid continued his work. When he requested the other sit up so that he may assess his lower limbs, Vortex slowly sat up, still hugging Aid.
With some gentle encouragement and a promise to keep touching and talking to the other, Vortex released the smaller mech from the bear hug he had him in since the beginning.
And so it continued. Aid gently narrated what he was doing, damaged headlights barely giving enough light to illuminate what he was doing with his servos. Vortex, now quiet, seemed to watch the other like a hawk.
At one twisted ankle, First Aid offered anasthesia. Vortex frame immediately started shaking, his helm like a rapid swivel. It was only after the medic gently promised he would not administer any anesthesia or turn off Vortex's senses that the shaken mech was somewhat soothed.
When he was done, First Aid looked up and asked the quiet Vortex what he would like to do now.
Vortex quickly rearranged their positions. Now, instead of the con leaning on the cavern wall, Aid was there. With Vortex cuddled up against him, aurials firmly over Aid's spark.
First Aid gently rested his servos on the silent mech. Softly stroking the other's helm, Aid just started talking. He explained that here was a good place to wait for rescue as they were rather close to the outside of the mountain, according to his scanners.
He talked about the town, how hiking along the trails was very popular during the safer months of the year. There were also numerous beautiful birds, with all sorts of colors. Which reminded him of a time when the Protectobots were on a mission in the tropics. There had been so many lifeforms in all sorts of colors!
When First Aid ran out of things to say in the moment, he started to hum and sing a few lines to keep the silence from encroaching on the artificial haven they created.
After a long time, First Aid's comms started picking up his brothers' chatter. Quickly informing Vortex, Aid immediately got into contact with his fellow Protectobots. When Heatwave instructed him to move a little away from the sealed entrance they were close to, First Aid quickly tapped Vortex, informing him.
The two managed to get up, frames still touching. When the stones started coming down, First Aid carefully watched his patient... and seemed to see Vortex coming back to life. His shakiness, fear, and timidness seemed to melt at the sunlight and falling rocks. By the time the way was cleared and the Protectobots warily stepped away from the opening after seeing both figures apparently unharmed (and one not being held hostage by the other), Vortex the Combaticon was stepping out with confidence, albeit quieter than usual. No smugness or malicious mischief. Just calm, confident, almost stoic.
After leaving the cave, Vortex stared up into the sky for a moment, as if taking in the life around him. He turned his helm back, his backwards glance meeting First Aid's gaze. Turning on his heel, the Decepticon gave a salute with two of his fingers before turning again. Vortex immediately took off at a sprint, transforming and rising up.
Watching the other go, First Aid wondered what effect, if any, that their moment of genuine peace would bring.
Soon after, the Autobots would start receiving concerning reports. Little did they know those reports would bring not one but three intense wars for the sake of their species.
The Triple Wars were perhaps both the most harrowing and rewarding of times for First Aid.
Being separated from his fellow Protectobots was difficult. They were brothers in all but code, having practically been raised together and then trained together.
Learning under Pharma and Ambulon had been a valuable experience, and he deeply treasured the relationships he developed at Delphi (The memories became rather haunted after finding out what Pharma did in the name of the facility's survival, but the good should still be treasured!).
After finishing his training under Pharma, First Aid was assigned to head his own medical facility. At a cross-faction station where the Combaticons were assigned.
When Vortex first popped into the medbay while First Aid was working with his subordinates to organize before the next rush of patients (Sometimes he really missed just being on the ground helping others. But as the chief medical officer of this station, he had to be responsible for all the patients, not just his own.)
After asking if Vortex needed something, the other shrugged and sat on a stool nearby. Just watching Aid. After a moment, First Aid returned to his work. After a while, the soldier started sharpening his blade. Sighing, Aid turned to him, saying that the debris would have to be cleaned to minimize airborne debris from the medbay.
Vortex sighed... and put away the sword. Then he started asking First Aid what he'd been up to. From there, the two exchanged stories as First Aid worked, while the other medical personnel gave a wide berth of the well-known for being crazy Con.
When Vortex next came in, it was for an injury he acquired during a quick skirmish behind enemy lines. He requested First Aid. After reassuring some of the concerned that he was happy to do it, the medical personnel were more than happy to hand off the difficult patient to their CMO.
When Aid went out on the field, Tex was never far away. He'd become somewhat of an unofficial bodyguard.
Surprisingly, Aid enjoyed the other's company. On the field, he was a watchful presence that made Aid feel secure while focusing on saving lives. In the medbay, on the table or not, Vortex's sly comments, raw honesty, and colorful anecdotes of all the adventures and places he's been to across his long life as a mercenary and then a Decepticon colored the medbay.
First Aid didn't really understand why the other was so attached to him. Perhaps it was because of that incident? But any medic that First Aid knew would have done the same thing!... ok, maybe not the usual Decepticon medic.
But still!
Maybe it was because First Aid never mentioned the exact details of Vortex's mental state in his post-op report? But it's not like Vortex would know what was in it.
It was very confusing for the young medic, but he didn't want to ask Vortex about it, for fear their strange friendship would become strained and stop.
Aid liked having Vortex around. For all his crudeness and sometimes callous remarks, the other mech was just so full of... life! The amount of detail he went into his stories, the taste on his tongue, the feel across his sensors, the color across his optics, the thrill of testing his limits in a flight.
Vortex noticed everything and reveled in it. He seemed to recall his memories as if he was experiencing them in the here and now.
It gave First Aid comfort, especially after losing patients and friends in this lengthy war.
Maybe... maybe after this one, everyone would be done fighting. Maybe they could start building permanent homes and not just migrate to different bases. Maybe he and Vortex could visit that one planet that had that specialty vintage oil that the heli raved about.
The next time Vortex came in after a lengthy mission, he brought back candy that was a colony's local specialty. Looking first at the candy that contained chrome (Aid had mentioned off-handedly to Tex that he preferred chrome over silver), First Aid then looked up at the heli munching on his own between talking about the colony's cuisine, its culture, and the skirmish that occurred with the enemy.
That's when First Aid knew. He was in love with Vortex.
Reconstruction brought a lot of changes. Some of it good, and some of it bad.
Leaning against the doorway inside their home, First Aid couldn't help but feel very fortunate. On the balcony of their lighthouse, Vortex was pointing out some of the constellations to the previously fussy bitlet in his arms.
Only a few days old, and Vespera had her sire completely wrapped around her tiny little finger. Vortex practically lept out of bed when the little one started fussing after waking up with a bubbly tank. Didn't matter if it was "slag Unicron" in the morning.
Vespera needed help, and Sire was gonna give it. Even when First Aid pointed out that Tex had a consultation later that day and Aid was still on medical leave, Tex insisted new carriers needed rest.
Personally, Aid just thought Vortex was reveling in finally getting to interact with their daughter. Smiling face not hidden by his usual visor and face mask (both resting next to his Junx's own on the berthside table), the new carrier went to the kitchen to make their cafs.
One sweet, one spicy.
What do people think about Skyfire x Wheeljack?
🤔 Never thought about it before
🤷 If Starscream isn’t there…
😅 I’d ship them with other people…
🤩 Ho-Ly crap that actually WORKS!!!
So my thought process is:
- Starscream & Skyfire had a close friendship and partnership tinged with “will they- won’t they”
- Skyfire goes missing, Scientist Starscream takes a new direction in life, yadda-yadda “BETRAYAL” because Skyfire is a good person
- in a previous post, I paired Metalhawk and Starscream for a political marriage turned happy ending because while I LOVE SkyStar, I can’t think of anything aside from a rekindled friendship but a “missed chance, but happier times can still be had”
- so who would our lovely pacifistic calm gentle giant be into?
- another chaotic mess of a scientist with high energy and big ideas that Skyfire can’t help but care for
- hence Wheeljack

Search & Love
Ch. 1 Hot Spot
As his young team came into their own, Hot Spot was honored to receive their own headquarters from Autobot command.
Scratch that.
Hot Spot was ecstatic!!!
The Protectobots would have more independence; this meant the much older bots were trusting in their abilities and maturity. Considering how a great many of them acted as caretakers for the creche that Hot Spot and his team grew up in, that was huge.
And that's not all. The Protectobots were getting a new teammate!!!!!
Blaster had assigned them their very own Dispatch officer!!!! She was a newbie who had only been on the support side of the Autobots. But Blades said she would be the perfect fit for their team.
Honestly, the search and rescue team really needed a dispatch officer. Hot Spot did his best, but sometimes his team can get turned around during particularly tumultuous missions.
Hot Spot remembered when Groove and Streetwise got stuck in a major traffic jam on their way to stop Swindle from smuggling dangerous chemicals to a human criminal group. Thank Primus, Skyfire managed to pick them up and take them to the site before Blades got hurt.
The heli had dive-bombed the group and ended up getting into a tussle with Brawl, Swindle's "muscle of the day".
There was also another time. One that was not to be spoken of unless the speaker wanted a knuckle-sandwich from an irate heli.
Long story short, it involved geese.
...Poor geese.
Yes, a dispatch officer that could be their "eyes in the sky" would be a boon!!!
Hot Spot couldn't wait to meet her!!!!
Vera was all that and more.
Her calm, authoritative voice was like a cool breeze in a sweltering desert. She calmly guided the Protectobots to where they needed to go using the best route possible.
When she re-directed the mission when parameters changed, Hot Spot and the others couldn't help but listen to their guiding voice.
And once they came home, Vera cared for her team. Everyone was directed to the ready showers, a hot meal, or a debrief meeting according to the needs of her team.
She was the quintessential den mother. The Protectobot headquarters was perfectly in order. Everything was stocked appropriately, and messes were soon gone.
One look at Blades, and he quickly cleaned up the crumbs he was making on the couch and then ate over his bowl.
She ran the headquarters and the team with efficiency. Yet she wasn't domineering. Her authority was soft and gentle.
And when she was needed, Vera was quick to transform into her altmode, an emergency response motorbike. She would get there quickly, directing them all the while and have them maintain their updates.
It didn't matter if she was directing traffic away from the disaster site or diving into the thick of things to back up her boys.
Hot Spot could not help but fall in love.
When the truce was first announced, Hot Spot was genuinely worried about the new threat and what was to come. From what he heard, he and his team might be needed off Earth. They may even be separated.
Hot Spot felt it may be his last chance. And so, he went with his instincts
Looking up into the sincere red eyes of her leader, Vera only had one response.
"Yes."
After all, how could she not fall in love with this pure-sparked mech. He was everything and more that she could ever want in a romantic partner.
His steadfastness in the face of unimaginable danger was only matched by his joyful energy.
Yes, Vera could see herself spending whatever time they had left mutually belonging to each other.
Reconstruction brought many changes. Hot Spot was grateful for all of them.
He and his team survived the Triple Wars, having come out of it stronger both as individuals and as a team.
He and Vera were still going strong.
Hot Spot literally couldn't see how his personal life could get any better.
Sometime later, Hot Spot came back to the Rescue Bots Iaconian headquarters.
His optics immediately softened seeing Vera at her station, calmly directing a search and rescue team in the mountains. A group of hikers apparently hit a natural oil spill, fell off the trail, and dropped into the canyon. Luckily, no one was severely injured, but the rescue team that was sent was made up of cadets. They need a calm, trusted voice guiding them. Trusting the young rescuers to do what they trained for.
A happy squeak rang out.
Hot Spot kneeled down with arms wide open as a very small sparkling raced to him, abandoning his toys strewn around the play mat at his carrier's pedes. His twin brother quickly followed.
Arms now full of beeping and squeaking sparklings, Hot Spot shared a soft loving look with Vera before she quickly turned back.
The sire then made his way to the kitchens, where he could give Sparky and Bumper their snacks.
And himself a much-needed caf.

What parent combos might there be?
Hot Spot_ the leader of the Protectobots is a firm believer in leading by example. He is a high-energy warrior who prefers getting into the thick of things. His alt mode is a firetruck.
He is the son of Optimus Prime, and the only hint of his sire is his red eyes. Elita-1 loves him as her own, and Roller loves it when his big brother comes for family game night at Optimus’s private quarters.
Streetwise_ the savvy interceptor who can bust a rhyme and rhythm while staying in pursuit of his targets. His alt mode is a cop car.
Streetwise is very much a, in their words, perfect mix of his parents, Prowl and Jazz. Chase, while still a newspark, very much likes his big brother.
First Aid_ the highly empathetic medic, he is cautious, soft-spoken, and is very pacifistic. He will only ever do violence against another if it is to defend his own life or that of another. His alt mode is an ambulance.
Ratchet and Drift were very surprised when they conceived their first year as Endurae. However, they saw it as something to bring hope. And First Aid continued to do so.
Medix greatly admires his much older brother.
(Of course, then Vortex started flirting with Aid. Sincerely. Ratchet almost had a fuel pump failure. Drift very nearly went full-Deadlock.)
Groove_ pacifistic to the extreme, this scout is not a big fan of war. His wants in life are simple: a full fuel tank while he cruises down the open road, taking in the beauty, whether on a sunny or a rainy day. He enjoys his solitary time; he loves his fellow Autobots, but peace is rare to find in such a populated place. His alt mode is a police motorcycle.
Hotwire and Joyride are the Cycle Sisters of the Powermasters team, a specialized force that can go for a long time without Energon. When Joyride kindled with her hubby, Downshift from the specialized “Aggressive Scouting” team Omnibots, they knew Baby had to go somewhere more stable.
Both parents (& the very worried group of Aunts and Uncles) were relieved to find out the Ark already had a creche going. Little Groove loved his creche and caretakers, but he does miss his parents and clan.
Thankfully, when his parents can visit, they take little Groove on long stretches of travel. His loving, yet absent because of duty, parents probably affected his philosophy in life.
Blades_ Air Support Search & Rescue by function, deadly street brawler at spark. The only reason he hasn’t transferred to the front lines is that someone has to back up his brothers when Cons come sniffing around! His alt mode is a rescue helicopter.
Blades, unfortunately, was a war orphan. When he was found by an Autobot squad, the poor guy was weak… but that didn’t stop the feral little guy from trying to take a chunk out of his rescuers.
In the creche, the caretakers were able to see another side of the little hellion: strong, protective instincts. Poor Ratchet almost lost a hand to the bugger when he was attempting to give vaccines to the little ones. Kup would have laughed, but he had his hands full with his own creche (especially Hot Rod).
Ironhide was arguably the first adult Blades trusted. This led him to let other adults into his small circle of trust. But Ironhide was the one he went to when he had more sensitive issues. Ironhide was also the one who taught Blades basic fighting.

Hook_ the second-in-command and surgical engineer of the Constructicons.
He was promoted to a medical officer due to perfecting technical skills that could be applied to patching up other mechs. He is a perfectionist in the sense that he wants his name associated with the most technically perfect work, no matter how long it takes. His over-inflated ego makes him a pain to work with.
The Triple Wars: Constructicons
Part 1
An Archive of Our Own, a project of the Organization for Transformative Works
What if the Autobots and Decepticons were forced to team-up to battle a third threat. After dealing with said thread, another came up. And then it happened again. By the time the Triple Wars (or Long Ceasefire depending on who you ask) finally ended, all the Cybertronians were done with fighting, in part because they’ve formed so many cross-faction bonds.
The Constructicons, despite their rough natures, have always been a (at times grudgingly) close-knit group. It goes without question that they would continue to stick to each other. However, now they could have lives outside of their gestalt.
Scrapper_ The head and chief engineer of the Constructicons who is able to bring together the other members’ more extreme personalities
A modest mech who’d rather he and his team’s work speak for him. His pride is in what he and his team are able to do with limited means. (Megatron highly valued his competent, non-ambitious nature)
He’s always had this admiration for Grapple, head of the Autobots construction crew.
He’d been a fan of the other’s work. Scrapper was delighted when he and his crew worked on Grapple’s design. The architect had been quiet except when he was fussing over the design. But unlike other superiors, he actually listened when the construction workers brought up issues, instead of treating them like they were stupid or had to figure out the impossible.
But having a front row seat and collaborating with him…
The other’s ingenuity and creativity intrigued him. That feeling grew during The Truce. Rather than being annoyed when Grapple spiraled when his artistry was suppressed or his work was destroyed, Scrapper took pride in helping the other out of his funk.
Grapple’s issues were far less annoying than dealing with his gestalt… and more emotionally rewarding.
Quite frankly Scrapper was relieved when he learned Grapple and Hoist’s relationship, while VERY close, was PURELY platonic.
After the Triple Wars pretty much sealed their factions together, Scrapper was quick to propose starting a demolitions/architect/construction company together. Grapple accepted. Later on, the two conjuxed.
Idea:
You know how Skyfire and Jetfire are interchangeable names for the same person?
Yet the person himself has different backstories and seemingly disparate personalities?
What if Skyfire and Jetfire were brothers or spark twins?
Skyfire_ the xenobiologist scientist who went missing on an exploration mission with his partner Starscream (“will they, won’t they”)
After the events depicted in the 80s cartoon, he becomes an Autobot scientist and part-time transport.
He is gentle, kind, honorable and absolutely hates fighting. He adores exploration.
Sky frets when his brother overworks or returns injured.
Jetfire_ the military air commander. He joined the Decepticons after the powers that be didn’t approve a search and rescue for his missing brother. He was respected and feared for his tactical genius, but he defected for the Autobot out of disgust for the brutal, thuggish, dishonorable methods of the war-mongering Cons.
He became a respected Air Commander dubbed the “Air Guardian”. At the request of Optimus Prime, he left his former post (not sure what) and went to Earth to train the inexperienced Aerialbots.
By the time he got there, the events with Skyfire occurred, and the brothers were reunited.
Jetfire can be stern but he’s a good mentor. He is focused and responsible but isn’t the type to lord his authority over others. Respect is earned and must be reciprocal. He is an honorable warrior.
Mess with Sky and get your aft handed to you in an appropriate manner (public dressing down, assignment of punishment duty, wipe the floor with you during a spar)
… You can imagine what happened to Starscream when Jet finally gets the whole story.

I got a brainwave while in the middle of reading this fic:

I decided to post this on here cause this story deserves all the kudos.
I have my own theory regarding Cybertronian Biology:
Before the Quintessons, Cybertronians was a metal based species that reproduced similar to organics. There were stories, however, of a clan dying in a disaster only for a sparkling to arise from their collective grave to continue on.
The first time, the Quintessons were actually in a period of science and goodwill to foreign species. There was mutual benefits between the two species, such as developing armor plating to protect the sensitive proto-matter of early Cybertronians.
Later on, the Quintessons became arrogant and started enslaving the species they once helped. They even had false propaganda that they “created” Cybertronians from advanced AI.
The Cybertronian species was divided into “war” and “servant” class under them.
There are other divisions that were created but the timeline is funky so I’m just going to list them and how/why they might have occurred:
- alt modes: “servant” frames came up with them as a means to fight fairly against warframes who wanted a “might makes right” system of rule
- mech vs femme: it started as a division of jobs: femmes have an easier time with carriage than mechs who usually already have most of their processor in various defense or hard labor coding, femmes were often built with a lighter build so they could serve as scouts, tracking, long distance hunting, or even protection while their mechs are handling physically taxing tasks, femmes were also attracted to the arts (although in some eras it got twisted to entertaining in various ways)
- sizes: there used to be a standard sizing but as needs were found, needs were met. Need someone small to get into hidey places or to reach areas that the normal mech can’t? Minibots
Need to go into the wilds or hunt down extremely dangerous animals? Beastformers
Back to reproduction, there used to be only three ways: kindling (mommy and daddy), budding (a Cybertronian has an over abundance of proto-form that splits off, sometimes it may absorb the CNA of another Cybertronian. They used to be the same as a new spark but with advanced tech can be fully grown), and hot spots (they occur when a massacre or the site of mass death. The energy of life snuffed out + the material of sentio-Metallica can produce new sparks woth the collective CNA of the deceased people.)
Kindling was the most common method woth budding and hot spots being rarer. However, kindling became far less common due to a number of reasons (one such being if the carrier doesn’t get sufficient nourishment from their diet to both nourish the child and build up their frame, the sire has to provide additional transfluid both for CNA and additional material).
Additionally Hot Spots became very numerous due to the level of death and warfare that keeps occurring on Cybertron. Particularly when the religion of the Sky Father became twisted into the Cult of Unicron. Even more so when the Fallen (formerly Megatronus Prime a warrior priest of the Primia religion during the equivalent of Cybertron’s early Middle Ages) figured out how the Dark Energon the cult is centered on was created: massacring whole cities, dilute the blood into natural Energon and let the EMF’s of the suffering poison the Energon into Dark Energon.
(Dark Energon is a treacherous tool: one can gain great power or die terribly. I can detail how it is used by the cult later.)
Hence Hot Spots became the main method.
As for MTOs, it’s basically sparks from a hot spot being put in a formatted shell rather than them growing into their own.

Customer Service Prowl.

———————————————————————
The door behind the tactician hissed shut, isolating him from the outside world.
Prowl had a short walk, 11.2 clicks, to the communications terminal. He took exactly as long as was necessary. Not a click sooner.
Injury warning messages were manually silenced. He’d neglected his own self repair for lower priority tasks before. This was no different.
Shutting Tacnet off from working on the Jazz Mystery was a greater struggle. It’d been so long since Prowl had gotten to work through a puzzle like this, it had him booting up long dormant scripts he hadn’t used since working as a detective. The mental stretching warmed him up. It felt good. But it wasn’t what was currently required of him. He shut off that branch of his processor too.
Tactical estimates only.
For now.
Like packing up his room, Prowl “got into uniform”.
Optic hue shifted to within the parameters of the socially accepted spectrum.
Doorwings lifted high and almost pressed together, neither spread out in intimidation nor lowered in submission.
Helm tiled forward 24 degrees to cast the maximum level of shadow over his features while not obscuring vision.
Prowl reached the terminal like a silent storm.
He nodded the minimum angle required to be interpreted as bowing for the manifestation of War resolving on the screen.
“Lord Megatron.”
He glared from beneath his chevron, pricks of light in a darkened room.
“What are your demands?”
———————————
The course of action Megatron required tactical support for was frankly amateur. The solution incredibly simple.
Sentinel Prime had once more prodded the leader of the revolution into a vengeful fury, so now Megatron wanted to, of course, retaliate violently.
The correct course of action was to not engage.
It was clearly a trap designed to whittle away their limited resources, which would have been idiotic even if the Quintessons were not a factor in the equation. Since they were however, it lowered Prowls opinion of both leaders even further that they’d even considered reigniting the civil war at a time like this.
No, what truly challenged Prowls strategic prowess wasn’t the request itself, but how to tell Megatron “That is an idiotic idea and how dare you expect me to entertain it.”
The trick, after much trial and error, was to not tell him at all.
“There are 24 optimal targets for a retaliatory attack Lord Megatron. 8 of which would yield material gain if taken and 3 of which would yield additional territory.”
All three of the territorial land grabs overlapped with the material gains category. However, when phrased correctly, it both implied even more options for Megatron to pick through and forced him to choose from plans Prowl had decided in advance.
Megatron gave the illusion of consideration.
He selected the land grab options, for the obvious purpose of irking the standing Prime. It took one to know one and megalomaniacs despised having their property made smaller. Stolen goods were numbers on a page. A map was a picture of what was lost.
“Very well. For the most expedient retaliatory strike, the mining depot on ES 9-B33 will be ideal for your conquering.”
Prowl had the mining depot mission lined up for close to a vorn. It was on the edge of Cybertronian territory, minimally guarded and would provide the Decepticons with a cache of ever needed raw materials. And while it was a great boon for their small faction, to the sprawling colonial power of Cybertron, it was hardly worth notice.
Which meant Sentinel and the Functionalist government shouldn’t waste resources on restarting the Civil war (66%).
Megatron, satisfied in his ignorance, ordered Prowl to draw up the assault plans immediately.
Prowl was sorely tempted to tell the deception to “do it himself” and not just to get him out of the picture for a time.
It was a very rare thing for Tacnet to come up with 100% certainty. However, Prowl could say, with terrible absolute certainty, that nothing short of a true Prime, or maybe an exploding star, could take Megatron in a fight.
The mech had forced Prowl to reset his parameters of what a cybertronian could physically survive no less than 13 times. At least 5 of those being assassination attempts from Starscream, whose preferred method of execution was “beyond all reasonable restraint.”
Until further notice, Megatron was an immovable piece of the board that required skillful circumvention.
“The plan will be drafted in 4 breems Lord Megatron.” Prowl dipped his helm and did not break eye contact until the screen went dark.
Prowl connected to the communications system, pinging Soundwave for the most recent updates on ES 9-B33, layering the new information over his original outline.
Once received, it required only a fractional amount of processing power to run through which decepticons were available for action, filter out those not suited for the job and sort the minutiae of coordinating supply ships to reroute to arrive at the depot as the assault team would be wrapping up.
Will softened by boredom, temptation won out and Prowl turned the bulk his processing power to Jazz.
Details laid out plainly, it painted a concerning picture.
Jazz was a highly skilled combatant, he solely exists to kill Quintessons by his own admission.
And he loves music.
Jazz speaks a language neither Prowl nor Bluestreak have ever encountered, Jazz himself having never interacted with Common, let alone standard Cybertronian.
Jazz was exceptionally sociable, even going as far as to try and play card games with hostile organics. Yet even pressed chassis to chassis, not once did Prowl detect an EM field.
And he’s a shameless flirt.
Jazz had many unusual physical attributes, such as abnormal ranges of motion, multi jointed legs, and in spite of all his injuries, Prowl hadn’t seen so much as a drop of energon.
Jazz possessed a disturbingly high pain tolerance, and was at best accustomed to substandard medical treatment, if not outright abuse.
And he’s never felt a kind touch before.
When Bluestreak had asked about him, Prowl had told his brother that Jazz was an alien mechanical lifeform and to not harass him unnecessarily. Between his physical bizarreness and lack of common knowledge among cybertronians, it was a natural conclusion.
But something hadn’t been quite right ever since Prowl had rescued the mech. There was this nagging inconsistency with Jazz’s behavior.
He was very curious about Prowl, yet seemed far more in awe of the other alien life forms and ships they’d been traveling with. There was also the immediate (and somewhat overwhelming) familiarity with which Jazz conducted himself around Prowl.
It was almost as if…
Jazz doesn’t consider Prowl to be alien (88%).
If he thinks Prowl is the same species as him, then would that mean Jazz doesn’t realize he’s the alien?
Unless.
An alternate, unpleasant theory began to weave.
Unless Jazz isn’t an alien at all.
Prowl finished the assault plan and sent it with a harsh hand. Re-opening his comms to the backlog of messages from Bluestreak, he scrolled back to something his brother had said when he’d been repairing Jazz’s visor.
BLUESTREAK: [WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF.]
Too far.
PROWL: [Please do not comment aloud.]
BLUESTREAK: [Is he really fully in recharge? Just like that?]
PROWL: [No. Jazz is still conscious. He’s not completely limp either just… very sedated.]
BLUESTREAK: [Just from holding his face? C’mon Prowl, that’s weird. This is weird. You found a weird, weird mech who definitely has a thing for you.]
PROWL: [He does not have a “thing” for me.]
BLUESTREAK: [Oh yeah? What are you getting from his EM field then?]
PROWL: [Nothing. He doesn’t have an EM field Bluestreak. Jazz is an alien and likely doesn’t have all the same traits as a cybertronian.]
BLUESTREAK: [Are you sure? I mean, the anesthetic worked fine. And he looks pretty cybertronian to me.]
BLUESTREAK: [Maybe he has field atrophy? You had that once. I couldn’t feel you even if I was touching you.]
That was when Prowl had been apart of the decepticon High Command. He’d spent multiple Vorn isolating himself, doing nothing but churning through battle plans and inventory logs and reconnaissance reports with little rest. Then there was the first time he crashed.
A minor setback at first. Almost immediately Prowl went back to work. Over and over again, he’d bypass previous limitations of the decepticon military. With each success, the bar was placed a little higher, with is successive crash, the recovery took a little longer.
There were always improvements to be made. He’d long moved on from the most needed structural changes to continuously finer tuned modifications to how the entire faction operated. He sharpened Megatrons rebellion scrap into keen edged blades.
Prowl did anything for the edge.
Even down to the smallest percent.
Even down to the smallest decimal point of a percent.
At Prowls worse, when he had just started to tip over to spending the majority (51%) of his waking time in recovery from continuous Crashes, he had come up with a strategy that would give the decepticons a 0.04% advantage in the long run against the Quintessons.
Repairing critically damaged ships was not cost effective. If a ship’s structural integrity fell beneath 14%, Prowl had instituted a script to cause the ship to self destruct. Therefore causing maximum damage to surrounding attackers in a final blow.
Prowl stared at his reflection in the black glass.
You couldn’t see the break in his nose anymore, Smokescreen had punched him in the medbay so it was fixed fairly quickly.
0.04%
Bluestreak was stuck in the medbay for a quarter of a Vorn.
Prowl straightened, optics returning to his default blue. The injury warning messages eeked back into his processor, causing his doorwings to shake briefly before Prowl allowed them to drop.
If the Functionalists had someone like him in their employ, then Jazz may not be an alien at all.
———————————————————————
To all the folks who picked up on the clues, good job! There’s no Optimus and there’s no Autobots. Yet.
There’s more to how Prowl got into his current situation later and I’m sure Jazz will be “totally cool” with Prowls past life choices. And current life choices. And general sense of ethics.
Bluestreak knows Prowl’s responsible for blowing him up and uses it to blackmail him constantly once their relationship got better again.
(Cybertronian timescales are weird, but a Vorn is basically a “year” for them, and fifty years for a human. A breem is pretty consistently 8 minutes.)

<- First Next ->
I’m looking forward to Optimus.
I now have the image of Jazz’s mecha program where it’s revealed that the majority of successful pilots are actually the hybrid children of Cybertronians who fled the civil war and hid among humans, taking new identities and human mates.
Like Jazz and his twin Ricochet’s mom got with Meister (a very dangerous mech) over a shared love of music (I have it in my head she was a gospel or soul singer).
Orion Pax is the son of Codexa and her human truck driver husband.
Can you imagine the drama if the Matrix seemingly chose a tiny alien to be the next prime, woth said alien’s mecha called “Convoy” reformatting him into a Cybertronian?
Or perhaps beforehand Orion’s Cybertronian side reformatted him into a smaller yet techno-organic version of the dockworker Orion Pax that we know and love?
Perhaps a certain warlord gets a bit smitten by the charming, eager to learn, noble leader of the tiny hybrids that control giant drones.
(Or maybe it’s love at first sucker punch)
How might First Aid x Vortex happen?
Considering how little screen time the two have together, fanfic writers have a lot of ideas for how it might occur.
Mine involves something perhaps a bit softer:
Everyone knows Vortex is quite the sadist. In the original cartoon, he used a specialized attack with his rotors to make his enemies dizzy.
This has been expanded upon to include “advanced interrogation” skills. His delight in violence has been expanded into a sadomasochistic streak.
But for how terrifying and unhinged Vortex is, he has one weakness.
Vortex is terrified of being stuck in the dark.
Yes this is canon in the Aligned continuity and the Fall of Cybertron video game. It is an extension of his fear of sensory deprivation, perhaps stemming from the time Megatron had the Combaticons removed from their frame and put in spark prison for their attempt to overthrow Megatron.
His fear is so bad he won’t even use anesthetics, which perhaps is why gained the reputation of also being a masochist.
Now imagine the Combaticons getting caught up in a natural disaster of some kind while on duty (or perhaps they inflict said natural disaster). Vortex gets caught in a landslide and is stuck deep underground.
The Protectobots came to the area (perhaps a hurricane is ongoing and they helping to evacuate the human civilians).
First Aid, after getting some humans out, also gets stuck underground. His comms don’t work but he senses a spark signature.
In a really deep place, First Aid gets tackled.
The medic is scared at first only to find a shivering, terrified Vortex curled around him, the heli’s helm tucked close to the medic’s spark.
And so for hours, First Aid gently soothes and speaks to the frightened Decepticon while treating him as best as he could.
When they finally get out thanks to the other Protectobots, Vortex leaves.
He leaves longing for that warm presence in the dark that did not mock him, but whispered words of care and encouragement.
He leaves those touches soft and gentle rather than rough and careless on a body already in dull pain, previously the only sensation tethering the soldier to reality.
He leaves with the image of a light peaking through the earthen ceiling onto First-Aid as the two were finally dug out.
Why aren’t their fanfics of the original Metalhawk with Starscream?
Just imagine
Metalhawk who invented the Pretender shells, metal-organic drones that a Cybertronian can neural link with and blend in with smaller scale organic species.
He and his Pretenders are able to use their shells to gather information, speak with diplomats on their turf so to speak, and use their human identities against the Decepticons.
All at great personal risk to their unconscious true bodies should their shells be damaged or destroyed.
Then there is Starscream who managed to reverse the science of the Pretender shells which allowed for the formation of the Decepticon Pretenders who take on more monstrous and deadly forms.
What if after the war, the Decepticons, Autobots, non-combatants, and Neutrals are all trying to be a unified people again.
In addition to an anonymous pen pal cross-faction program, a courtship program is initialized where a Con or Bot can send a letter to a member of the opposite faction requesting permission to court (court NOT exclusively date).
Starscream, member of the High Council and Winglord of Vos, seizes the political opportunity and asks to court a chief diplomat, scientific genius, and fellow jet, the former commander of the Autobot Pretenders, Metalhawk.
Meanwhile Windblade and Skyfire are judging him.
B.B., Starscream’s personal bodyguard, is just happy to support his boss.
What if:
Orion Pax was the result of a cross faction romance between his father Convoy (an enforcer) and his mother Codexa (an archivist). As a result of their union, the couple were forced to leave their respective positions and join the working class.
Orion loved his parents, who shared what they knew with both of their sons. He desperately wanted more and resented how his parents were forced between love and their careers. He resented how society only allowed for he and his brother to take up such positions as dock workers.
He heard of a movement that had been started in the dangerous city of Kaon. Later on, he would meet Megatron, the reigning champion of Kaon’s gladiator circles.
Orion was smitten by the athlete. While he was capable, handsome, charming, and worldly, it was his intelligence that grabbed his spark. His views on their society, the harm it does to the average citizen, whatever the frame type or polity, was a reflection of the observations and beliefs which the kind-hearted Orion held deep in his spark.
And Megatron felt like he met a kindred in the kind, eager, and intelligent young dock worker.
They clicked.
However, overtime, Orion noticed how the movement started to go down a darker path. Wording became more harsh, peaceful demonstrations turned into angry protests that often dissolved into riots.
When he brought it up with his lover, Megatron reassured him that it was just the growing pains of a rising movement. The inevitable release of anger and resentment that had been suppressed under acceptance and helplessness.
Orion was still uneasy.
One day, Megatron asked him to perform a mission. Unlike other ones where he helped to spread the message or hide protestors from violent enforcers, Orion’s mission was to sneak a package into cargo. When asked, Megatron reassured him it was some copies of his latest work to be distributed.
When he got to the docks, he ran into his brother Dion and their friend Ariel. Ariel, concerned about the rumors going on about the Decepticons, had asked Orion if everything was alright.
Like when she had asked once before in the early days of getting to know Megatron, he reassured her everything was fine. That he trusted the other mech.
After finally getting past the two, he went to the cargo hold of the ship. Ariel and Dion’s words, however, reawakened his own doubts.
After a moment’s hesitation, Orion opened the box.
In it was a bomb.
In that moment, he knew what he had to do. He immediately took the box out of the hold.
Knowing from the countdown he didn’t have a lot of time left, Orion called his only two allies and ordered them to evacuate the docks.
The two did so, only to go after Orion. After placing the bomb in an area of the docks that was further away from the ships and buildings, Orion tried to flee with his brother and their friend.
They didn’t make it.
It was only by the grace of Primus that Alpha Trion happened to be nearby.
Orion, Dion, & Ariel died.
But Optimus Prime, Ultra Magnus, & Elita-1 arose.
Optimus Prime would not forget what Orion Pax went through. He would continue the fight for freedom, but he would not descend into anger and hatred.
But Optimus Prime did not know, that on that day, Megatron tore apart the Con that had accidentally switched the box meant for Pax with one containing a bomb meant for illicitly mining Energon that the movement needed.
Megatron, in the deepest parts of his spark, still grieved for the one being that had treated him with sincere admiration and care since the loss of his one family. Orion had liked and cared for Megatron the person. Not the Undefeated Champion. Not the inspirational visionary. Not the fearless and dominating leader.
And for years, Megatron had no idea that his irritating nemesis that he strives to finally conquer, the sanctimonious Optimus Prime… had indeed been mischievous, sincere, beloved Orion Pax.
