nancy dealing with the grief and guilt of barb's death thinking she's the one who killed her until she sees mike doing the same after el's death and it kills her to see him go through the same thing but at least now she knows that barb's death wasn't her fault because there's absolutely no way that el's death is mike's
People on sttwt have 0 fandom etiquette.
Why are Mike haters in denial about Mike having depression is season 2??
He showed textbook signs of depression, he was irritable and in a low mood the whole season. He was acting out, he plagiarized an essay which implies lack of motivation.
The Duffer brothers confirmed it:
But that isn’t enough. According to them Mike has no reason to be depressed, because he doesn’t have trauma. You’re friend going missing, seeing his ‘death’ body, fighting against a monster, seeing people die, seeing the girl you love disappear isn’t traumatic apparently.
It really pisses me off when people say that El should’ve pulled Max and Dustin into the void because they’ve experienced depression so they would understand her and convince her to stay.
First of all, did you guys forget about season 2? Where Mike was depressed?
Also, it’s unrealistic to expect a 16 year to be able convince their friend not to commit suicide right before they are about do it. That’s why I hate when people judge Mike for the way he was acting in the void. What do you expect him to do? Think logically? His biggest fear was about to become true, he was begging her to stay.
Besides, imagine if El pulled Dustin into the void. “You understand me better then anyone.” After they barley interacted with each other, it would be so random.
i love this duo!!!! <3 (quick 40 min sketch break) S4 AU, hellfire mike! & cheerleader El.
inspired by this story called paladin & the pompoms by @vinceredieem check it here x
part 4 of my doodless
I really wish that we saw El getting a pet or at least interact with animals, she clearly loves them.
Note: I got these pictures from Pinterest, I didn’t make them.
I can’t believe that people are still denying that Ted is a bad parent and husband after his argument with Karen in season 5. Ted is dismissing Karen’s concern for Holly and blames the way Karen feels on alcohol. And Karen says that Ted doesn’t even know how old his daughter is!!!
giving karen all those badass moments only for her to not even divorce ted in the end, one of the most important things for her character, is a clear example of the “girlboss” formula. showing you a strong woman without actually developing her. because she isn’t interesting beyond appearing to be a strong woman, that’s what “independent” means here, not actually letting her be independent from the relationship that’s holding her back.
Some ppl: Mike wasn’t canonically depressed in season 2, him showing signs of depression in season 2 is just him grieving, that’s not real depression!! (Even though the Duffers confirmed that he had depression in season 2)
The same people: Max was canonically depressed in season 4. Her showing signs of depression after her stepbrother died is actual depression, not just grief!!
The same people: W*ll was canonically on antidepressants because there were pill bottles in him room!! (Even though we never saw what pills there were and it had never been confirmed by anyone)
Why can’t you guys just accept that both Max and Mike struggled with depression? Both are a good portrayel of depression. The only problem is that they didn’t really do anything with Mike’s depression after season 2. Mike didn’t really have his own storyline after season 2, his whole characters kinda revolved around El. It would be interesting if in season 4 Mike was depressed again after Will and El moved away, but instead they pretended like Mike’s depression never existed. They kind of did the same to Max’s depression in season 5, after she came out of her coma and her friend died, she was fine. That’s not how depression works.
I also think it’s weird how they accept W*ll having pill bottles in his room is him being canonically on anti depressants, but Mike showing signs of depression and being confirmed by the duffer brothers isn’t Mike being canonically depressed.
ETA:
I noticed that a lot of people who are in denial about Mikes depression are b*/ers. I think that they don’t want to accept how important El was for Mike in season 1, so they dismiss how much he was struggling after she ‘died’.
it also frustrates me when Bylers claim they understand Mike more than Mileven fans but everything they "understand" about him is purely a headcanon. Which like headcanons are fine but saying you understand him cause of his internalized homophobia , means you actually don't understand his character. He was never written in the show to have internalized homophobia, if you want to write that into a fanfic like obvi be my guest but in the show its very clear he is a very anxiously attached guy. Who spent six years trying to hold onto this impossible girl. Too scared to be uneeded that he failed to understand he was wanted.
No literally. Like let’s just run down everything that specifically happens to Mike in the series:
His best friend goes missing
He’s forced to jump off a cliff by his bullies
He watches his best friends dead body be pulled out of a lake
The girl who helped him find his best friend disappears into thin air
his best friend is possessed by the mind flayer
gets threatened by his girlfriend’s dad who kept her away from him for almost a year
almost gets knocked out by flayed billy during the sauna test
does get knocked out by billy at startcourt
watches Billy get murked
his best friend and girlfriend leave the state
living in a house with 2 parents who don’t love each other at all and are always going back and forth
almost gets attacked by monsters multiple times
goes to visit his gf and bff in lenora and has to watch his gf be arrested
goes on a mission to find said girlfriend and finds her amongst a sea of dead scientists
goes back home and his town is split in half
and this is all before season 5. I get that Mike doesn’t have the most trauma of everyone in the show. But he’s definitely traumatized and for good reason. If the only rationalization you can make for Mikes more unsavory behaviors are that it’s because he has “internalized homophobia” then you’re just lazy. and go ahead and ship what you want, you can write, draw, read whatever fic/headcanon/ships you want. but acting like it’s canon because you don’t pay enough attention to the show says more about you than it says about Mike and the show in all actuality.

Happy birthday to my son Michael James Wheeler🎊🥳🎈🎊🪅🎁
The Mike and Dustin friendship will always be special to me because they're both nerds that don't have a single bone of cool in their body
"You're my best friend too" has a chokehold on me and you can't convince me they have hours long conversations over the phone about all kinds of nerdy shit when they're adults
Modern(-ish) Wheelclair Moodboard
your honor, they’re in love.
