going to be putting my studying & future ems career to the side for now while i deal with some personal stuff. i may come back to this career in the future, but i know i’d want to be able to give it more of my energy/focus (to be the best provider i could be), and i know I can’t do that right now.

Took me until about halfway through college before I realized “study” means “play with the material in a variety of ways until you understand it” and not just “read the assigned chapters and do the homework” and I think that probably should have been discussed at some point prior to that.

It’s so sad that students are now relying so heavily on AI for writing essays because they’re missing out on the best part of writing an essay which is when you’re a few paragraphs in and you just reach that flow state where your thought process becomes one with the essay and you’re slamming the keys so hard that you’re on the verge of destroying your laptop. I used to get high off of that shit

Today one of the doctors said to the medical students “You need to put yourself in the pants of your patients and see things from their point of view” and I am definitely going to be thinking about that every day for the rest of my life.

study update:

made some medical abbreviation study cards using my emr textbook’s glossary of terms. I’m looking forward to soaking up the info - especially bc abbreviations are so hard to remember lol

working in emergency medicine or as a paramedic is crazy because I could say one dude inserted a 9 inch banana in his anus for jokes and there is probably one documented or undocumented case of that

hell I even saw one video on tiktok where one of the hospitals ER's got flooded with hot liquid poop and it was steaming. In fact so much wild shit happens in the ER I just think that paramedics and er doctors just treat that like a normal tuesday and boy they do

the last time I went to my local hospitals ER,it was so calm aside from that one dude who was saying random jargons loudly
