What you need in your core closet! Simply your style, must-have fashion and accessories pieces to have in your capsule collection. A capsule
If you’ve been trying to go plastic free for awhile you’ve probably accumulated quite a few jars some way or another. I often buy in jars and will keep them for upcycling, but sometimes I run out of ideas on how to reuse them. These are some good ways to repurpose those jars. In addition to these some zero waste stores will take cleaned jars for people who don’t have containers but are looking for a refill. While some of these are exclusively for glass, some of these ideas work for plastic containers too! Happy upcycling!

If shopping in bulk is not an option
I don’t live anywhere near a grocery store where I can shop in bulk. What I do instead is to be conscious of what I buy.
1. Buy seasonal. I live in Northern Europe, so there are a number of fruits and veggies that don’t grow here during the winter; tomatoes for example. I try to buy fruit and veggies after what season it is and what will naturally grow here during that season.
2. Buy local. Again, because of where I live, I try to avoid buying mango, avocado and other tropical fruits/vegetables, which I know will have to be transported a long distance. I also try to only buy products from my own country, or the ones close to me.
3. Avoid unnecessary shopping. Only buy what you need. Candy, cake, cup noodles … if you cut these things out of your shopping routine, you will not only eat healthier and save money, but will also waste less plastic as products like these almost always are wrapped in plastic.
4. Buy more. What I mean here is, instead of buying 4 bags of 0,5 kg of pasta, buy 1 bag of 2 kgs. It will still create waste, but way less than what would have been created, if you were to buy smaller portions
5. Bring a reusable bag.
6. I’m sure there are more ways to create less, feel free to add :)
No low waste effort is too small. Do what you can where you can.

WE NEED TO DO MORE
I can sit here all day and post little infographics on how best to reduce your waste, but I'm not practicing what I'm preaching if I'm not making serious changes to my diet.

Regrow your green onions:
* Place the white end bit in a glass of water just covering the roots (about 1 inch of water)
* Change the water every 2 to 3 days as needed
* Place them in a window sill. Depending on how warm the room is you should have more onions in a week or so!
🌱 It's that easy! 🌱

PACKAGE FREE 5 MINUTE HEMP MILK
Hemp seeds have a subtle nutty flavor and they happen to be packed with nutrients, hello superfood! One of my favorite things about this recipe is that you don’t need to strain! There will be a slight texture but you’ll get to enjoy all of those bonus essential amino acids and protein. You can increase your blend time a minute or so to make sure you get a smooth milk. (And shake well before every use, separation is natural!)
All you need is:
½ cup hulled hemp seeds
2 - 3 cups water
½ tsp vanilla
¼ tsp salt (we used kosher)
1 pitted date or 1 tbsp maple syrup (optional, but recommended for added sweetness)
Check out https://closedloopcooking.com/package-free-5-minute-hemp-milk/ for the full recipe! (It’s basically just blending!) Super simple and something you’ll want to keep on hand all the time.
You can make it in less than 5 minutes and there are no extra stabilizers or ingredients like conventional store bought milks. That’s seriously low impact folx! You can usually find hemp seeds at your local bulk bin or purchase a large packet that will last you a while.
Have you made hemp milk yet? Let us know how it goes! #closedloopcooking
