we need to give this tweet more credit for im pretty sure coining "die mad about it"
checks out, thank you melanie
i think its fine for straight actors to play gay characters but if they do it they have to actually get into it and give us good convincing kisses. if elliot page can suck passionate face with michael cera in 2007 u can kiss another man like u fucking mean it for 5 seconds
if you’re not embodying heath ledger almost breaking jake gyllenhaal’s nose making out with him against a wall then what are you even doing
you get it
not the biggest fan of how all everyday tasks have to be repeated again and again. girl why am i sisyphus i didn’t even cheat death
White on white violence
don’t even compare trans rights to abortion rights. You’re disgusting
1) all marginalised peoples fight for liberation is interconnected
2) esp on abortion and trans rights, where the issue is body autonomy vs. the christian patriarchal state
3) everyone should be able to get an abortion and a sex change without the state’s permission / criminalisation
4) a separation of womens rights and trans rights represents a fundamental misunderstanding in how the patriarchy as it exists punishes both cis women and people who deviate from mandated sex, sexuality and gender norms in similar and interconnected ways. and how our liberation is ultimately (joyfully and powerfully) connected to each other
Liberation won’t come from distancing yourself from or villainising other marginalised people

This is way better than straight up telling your kid “Santa isn’t real.”
I never thought about it this way, and it makes me really happy
This is literally in the Little House series: “anytime you do something for someone anywhere, without thinking of yourself, that’s Santa Claus.”
I’ve been Jewish for five years now. And let me tell you….I still love being Santa Claus.
actual ad from when Subaru was marketing directly to lesbians in the 90s
#is this real
yes! here’s an article about subaru marketing directly to lesbians
This search for niche groups led Subaru to the 3rd rail of marketing: They discovered that lesbians loved their cars. Lesbians liked their dependability and size, and even the name “Subaru.” They were four times more likely than the average consumer to buy a Subaru. […] Subaru decided to launch an ad campaign focused on lesbian customers. It was such an unusual decision—and such a success—that it pushed gay and lesbian advertising from the fringes to the mainstream.
If you’ve ever wondered why people joke about lesbians driving Subarus, the reason is not just that lesbians like Subarus. It’s that Subaru cultivated its image as a car for lesbians—and did so at a time when few companies would embrace or even acknowledge their gay customers.
I never used to understand what “making connections” looked like but it turns out it’s standing at a party and saying “I’ve been thinking about getting into the film industry” and someone saying “Oh, Sarah works in the film industry” and Sarah yelling from accross the room “Did someone say my name?!?!?!”
You casually mention that you’ve been thinking about such and such and your professor overhears and is like “oh I know someone who works there. Do you want me to email them for you?” And you go “Sure.”
It’s the six layers of separation thing. Everyone is only so many layers away from everyone else. So if you stand in the correct rooms and say the correct things out loud once in a while eventually someone will say “Oh, I know a guy.”
And then eventually you turn into the guy that someone knows. I think. It’s hard to tell.
hate being the generation that remembers no ads on YouTube & the annoyance when we first saw 1 ad every 10 videos, then 1 every 5 videos, then on every video, then multiple ads within a single video, only for YouTube to market paying for Premium™️ to ‘get rid of ads!’ which weren’t even there at the start
I hate being the generation that remembers when I could easily find episodes of anime and whole ass movies on YouTube.
Hate being the generation that remembers when YouTube videos would buffer when you pause them, allowing the entire video to load and let you watch it without interruption even on slow connections.
Hate being of the generation that opts to watch a video on a streaming service with ads instead of paying for it and discovers the service actually takes the effort to place the (multiple) ads where the ads were when the show aired and actually feeling... comfortable....with the ads....when I already paid for the goddamn streaming service
"This reminded me of you" is such a tender sentence. Oh to have impacted someone so much that they find bits of your soul and hold the memory of you in things and places when you're not around.
