Well. That’s not NOT what’s happening in the first scene of Hamlet.

#one of my classmates was directing the opening scene of Hamlet for directing class #and for whatever reason I decided to say the line ‘stop it marcellus’ when they see the kings ghost #with the same intonation as one might say ‘knock it off’#because it did not occur to a single one of the 4 people working on the scene including the director #that Horatio was giving an instruction to stop the ghost #we all just assumed Marcellus was goofin #only when our professor pointed it out did we all go ohhhh #but I think my interpretation lends itself nicely to this post
